So why the F*** did I bother to increase my payments from £111 to £476 a month when actually just by getting 3 of my balances up to date (another 3 which aren't still) it turns out they're F***ing charging me F***ing interest - 12.9% on the little one, 19.9% on the huge one, and 21.9% on a medium one.
After my payment this month I thought I would have a balance of £2359.50. Getting the actuals from those three it is £2665.49 in real life.
That's a deficit of £305.99 - most of the extra I have paid this month. And it's actually probably worse than that as I can't get balances on the other three currently.
    Whatever.
    Maybe more later.
If I wasn't going home right now I'd be smoking.
As it happens I haven't done that since about 10pm Monday night.
    Go me.
Like hell it makes a difference when this F***ed up cr*p is going on in the background. CCCS said it's because I'm no longer in financial difficulty. No longer in financial difficulty???!!! So why the H*LL am I on a F***ing DMP THEN! AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Don't know what to do with myself I'm so upset and worked up right now.

Oh LC that's rubbish! Can't you have a word with CCCS? why are they not freezing interest?

Super well done for not smoking honeybunch!

We both have had crappy days *huge huggles*

    Xxx
Life is too short not to love what you do.
  • do you ever go over to the DMP threads? Someone might be able to give advice over there? Do you call your creditors and touch base every now and then to see what is going on? I call all of mine every few months (well only been on dmp since feb...but have pretty much been on phone to all of them at least 2x) I find if you talk to the right dept, they will freeze interest for you if you explain your circumstances. If you explain that you are never going to get out of the debt if they keep piling on the interest they may stop it all again!

Barclays have only just stopped interest on mine today after i plucked up the courage to ring again lol, the o/d was charging 19% and the loan was around the same !

Don't let it get you down, and wel ldone on the no smoking! keep it up :) you can do it!

They're not freezing it any more because I'm now making higher than the minimum payments. That's what CCCS said was the most likely theory. I made a big post on the main DFW forum hoping someone would have some ideas, but unfortunately only got one response. In my head I've worked out a kind of solution actually but it'll take a couple of months to sort out so wasting money in the meantime there, but it's better than nothing. Thanks for your support honey. Why have you had a crappy day? I'll pop over and read later anyway xxx

Hey DFW, yeah i spoke to the three biggest ones yesterday and got up to date balances etc, they've literally started charging me this month as I'm making payments that are now much higher than the minimum payments would have been on the cards themselves. My only hope is the other 3 debts, which are not cards, will not work on this basis as one is a very old mobile bill, one is an old PDL and one is my old overdraft, so they're all fixed amounts whereas the cc's which have strated with the interest are of course rolling amounts due to their very nature.

Basically, I think I'm going to have to continue paying what I am - the overdraft looks like it only needs two more payments anyway, and i'll try and save up money in the background to pay off those three small debts. Then I'll talk to the CC people, get bank details so I can pay them directly, and get rid of the DMP. At that point I'll pay minimum payments on my lower interest ones, and focus on the highest one, and snowball them.

I'm still thinking about it and only had one reply to my post on the DFW thread about it which was annoying.

Anyway, speak later thanks for dropping by honey xxx

  • Hmmm could you not cancel your DMP now and pay the creditors yourself? Like by paying off the smaller ones quickly maybe and then throwing all extra money you have at the cc each month? I don't know what to suggest really...I think this very same thing happened to someone on the dmp thread though (although had a quick flick through and i can't find it now?!)

I am hoping to offer f&f to some of my bigger ones if DH gets a decent payrise soon (enough so i can save for a few months and then offer the money to them) i heard they give good discount if you offer to do that?

Not sure what else to suggest really but don't let it get you down too much (i know, easier said than done :( )

    thanks dfw

I've now worked things out and I've decided that when my payrise kicks in at the end of July, that'll be the first one so I'll save it as planned as don't know what the exact monthly take home will be. So my payment on 1 July and 1 August will be the same to CCCS. Then as of my end of August pay, I'll know the extra, so I will add that straight onto my DMP. Should be about £150 extra. I was planning to put this in the moving fund but debts take priority, however I should still be able to save in the background. I've worked it all out and added even more for contingency and interest, and I should be able to make my last payment in Dec now instead of Nov, and IN THEORY still move out in December. If I've done my budgets right, I've already found a couple of mistakes so I'll be constantly re-assessing as I go along anyway, but I always do!

I don't want to cancel DMP at the mo as two of the smaller debts are nasty ones - one is a DCA for an old phone bill and charges (the DCA is Credit Solutions Ltd which is associated with Cougar...don't want to contact them unless I absolutely have to) and the other one is WDA which is a payday loan. I really don't want to contact either of these until I have to so we'll see how it goes. I've now finally got my balance on the fourth "OK" debt, which is an old Santander overdraft, and whereas CCCS thought the balance was 283, they told me it was 591, however then we worked out that wasn't showing this months payment which seems high for the amount ofdebt, which was 113, so balance is 477.86 - still nearly double what I thought :( however on the plus side they are 0% and are honouring this until it is paid off, so that's one piece of good news.

I'm so bummed about it really, feels like I've just wasted 400 this month, although technically I haven't, I just know about it now!

Hey ho, I feel a bit happier now I've jigged my budgets again.

My mum and dad randomly went away for a couple of nights this morning, so have the house to myself this weekend which is lovely, and I'm being really naughty and having Dr Oetker pizza (half price), Tesco Finest chips (notMSE at all!!) and wine (worth £7 but bought on 3 for £12 offer) for my tea to cheer myself up!!! I shall also watch a film but I don't know which one yet!

    Have a great evening x

    Hello chicken!

This sucks about your interest, I guess you know about it now so won't be as bad as getting to your debt free day and realising you still have a truck load of interest to pay!

The pizza and chips sound awesome, plus you're so like me it's ridic!

Hope you're ok and don't let the b*%#tards get you down!
