What does anyone think of cutting down (not cutting out) on carbs and replacing these with more fruit and veg?

This is effectively what I have done. I limit myself to 2 slices of wholemeal bread a day and have loads of salads and lots of vegetables. However, I couldn't cut our carbs completely. I will often have a handful of cooked wholemeal pasta with my salad, adds bulk and keeps me feeling fuller for longer.

Well done on cutting out the crap - best thing any dieter can do!

I've only slightly reduced carbs, in line with portion reduction etc (i.e 2 roast spuds, rather than 3) so its not something thats hugely noticable for me. I've pretty much cut out the sweets, chocolates, puddings and snacking at work and that seems to be the cornerstone of my weight loss. I've reduced alcohol consumption which has undoubtedly helped, but thats not so much a diet thing.

My whole ethos has been to get into good habits, that way I'm less likely to baloon again once I stop "dieting"

Its so difficult, this afternoon I had 'thoughts' :p of chocolate. No, can't do it, even though I have to walk past the vending machine to get to my desk. I've had a piece of fruit instead and i keep thinking of the weight I'll lose but its not easy.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

No, its not easy but will be so worth it :D I LOVE Graze nibble boxes, they give me a real boost; I'll have one 'portion' every other day or so as a snack at work; they vary in calories from 150 - 220 and are often 'healthy' calories like nuts.

I also allow myself a cheat meal once a week which keeps me sane. For me, this is a Friday as this is my weigh in day (I cheat after I have weighed in!). Today I am having homemade fish and chips, followed by a pud and washed down with a glass or two of wine :D I do balance this out by being really 'good' the rest of the week.

    Hi all,

I am back after going awol for a few weeks. Sadly my Father passed away after a two year battle with cancer.

So I have fallen off the wagon a bit, not surprisingly. But hard as it may be to get on with life, I know Dad would have wanted us to. He was a workaholic or as much as he could be when he was ill and always stayed positive. His 'cup was always half full, not half empty' and I believe he would want us to get on with normality sooner rather than later, no matter how hard it is.

It would be his birthday today, so I think it appropriate that this is the time to start taking little steps back to my usual routine. I am not promising huge weight loss, I struggled with that previously, so I'm not expecting miracles, but not to put huge amounts on would be pleasing, as I am one of those people who could over indulge on the snacks and not even register what I had done, when times are bad.

The Dragon, Could you please add me to the name list again please, I haven't had chance to keep up with everyone's progress, but hope to get back on track from today. Hopefully the coming month will be better than the last, it is my son's first birthday soon, and I am due to return to work after my maternity leave in 3 weeks time, so that will be a shock to the system, but something I will probably enjoy once I have got settled back in.

I am going to supermarket now to get in some supplies, as we seem to have been just living on ready meals and tat recently, that was when I wasn't stuffing my face with chocolate. Will also try and catch up on the thread.

WW tip/cheat - have mash cauliflower where you would normally have potato or rice - so tonight I'm having that mashed instead of mash (:p), and also some roasted (flora spray oil) butternut squash, veg & quorn sausages.

I do find however if I have 60g branflakes in the morning with a banana that sees me through the day & I only need a small lunch & fruit for snacks ;)

am gutted 3lb+ at this week's weigh in. That dastardly bank holiday foiled me yet again....
