Well they've had an email from me demanding my money back that I paid for an empty box and wanting to address the issue around the rest of the order.0
-
That is really out of order that they made you pay postage on an empty box!0

I too have had the same stock response to my complaint - I have replied thus
Dear Ms Campbell
You are mistaken I did purchase 2 bubble bath from you but due to your error you charged me £0 for them. You confirmed my order and I am waiting for my order to arrive.
As I stated in my previous e-mail I have contacted trading standards regarding this issue and await their response. I entered into a contract with you to purchase items from you - if you fail to charge me the correct price and confirm this incorrect price in an e-mail then as far as I am concerned you have also entered into this contract and should fulfil the contract. I believe you are breaking our contract by cancelling the sale after confirming it simply to try and get out of a huge error you made.
I also don't appreciate a stock response to my e-mail, do you have no customer service assistants that can write back to a customer? I have been shopping with Avon on and off line for years ( I have also been a representative) and never have I been treated so casually as this. I look forward to a non stock response.
Regards,
Annie Williams

This was in the Telegraph yesterday (main section, p7) about a Sainsbury's code offer that was 'misused', but I would say that you could substitute the name 'Sainsbury's' with 'Avon' and the same conclusion would be true:
"Robert Dirkovski, the head of interactive media at the Direct Marketing Agency, said: 'In one way it shows the ingenuity of people to use the internet to save money. Each time something like this happens, big business learn something about consumer power. He added that if customers had received confirmation of their order then Sainsbury's (read Avon) would have been legally obliged to deliver "
However, I am not quite sure how one could persuade Avon of this responsibility without going to lengths that may not be justified for a couple of bottles of bubble bath. This may be what they are counting on.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
could someone put the trading standards email, avon, email and phone number on the first page.
I have spend thirty mins looking for this with no look. The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -
This is the email I sent, no reply as of yet.
Re: Recent Order - ID: 4591**
To whom it may concern,
I recently received this order via Lynx next day delivery. Unfortunately I was shocked and disappointed to find that the contents of my order were infact missing from the box, only to be replaced by an Avon catalogue and a note to explain that my order would not be arriving due to a technical error on your website.
Whilst I am perfectly aware that sometimes these errors do occur, there is a system in place for dealing with this happening and Avon have clearly chosen to ignore this protocol on this occasion.
Firstly I do not expect to be charged for the delivery of a box containing your promotional material. The value of £5.50 that was taken from my Debit Card ending in 6328 should be returned immediately and on the same working day this email is received.
Secondly, as I am sure you are aware, Avon Cosmetics Ltd have offered me goods at a certain price, ie. an offer to trade. When choosing to accept this offer I provided my payment details in return. It is at this point that Avon Cosmetics Ltd made the decision to debit money from my bank account and thus entered into a legally binding contract to provide the goods involved in the trade. I would once again like to point out that Avon Cosmetics Ltd have accepted my order in full and are therefore liable to deliver all of the traded goods, without fault. I have a strong understanding of current consumer law and would be happy to explain this legislation to whomsoever should require such education.
I demand that this situation should be resolved in the following manner:
1. The £5.50 debited from my bank account for the delivery of promotional material shall be returned immediately.
AND
2. Either:
a) Avon Cosmetics Ltd choose to supply my order in full as detailed in the order confirmation and delivery note.
OR
b) Avon Cosmetics Ltd choose not to deliver my order in full but apologise for the manner in which this delicate matter has been handled and donate a figure of £20.00 to a charity of my choosing in way of an apology.
I expect that Avon Cosmetics Ltd will respond to this correspondance within 7 working days of receipt.
Should Avon Cosmetics Ltd make the choice not to enter into a conversation regarding this matter and ignore my correspondence, or choose to reply with standard replies, then I shall be left with no choice than to take this matter further. I propose that this shall take the form of contact with Trading Standards and my local Sheriff Court (Scottish Law).
Yours Sincerely,
Alan Shave0 -
