In a similar vein to the thread about how wearing ear-rings can affect people's perceptions about you, I think smoking is the same. You don't usually see the CEO of a company lurking by the doors of the office block with a fag hanging out his gob...

Well, having read though this all unfolding,I can only add thank God none of all you non smokers live next to me, Cannot belive your how you all react about someone smoking in their own garden, Im sure Ive got much more important matters to be concerned over. By the way I am an ex smoker and gave up only because of the cost, I enjoyed my disgusting habit, Live and let live I say.

8 pages of this! Crazy. Surely the sensible thing to have done in most of the cases here would be to talk to the neighbours. Most people (not all, but most), I'm sure wouldnt mind if someone came up to them, explained the situation and it would be resolved. Making a point of closing the doors everytime someone has a cigarette, why dont you just talk to them? As for telling people they stink, I think if I did that to someone round here, I would get a punch in the mouth.

Are you sure about that? I've seen it fairly often.

From the people I know it does seem the more successful the more they smoke, I guess its the stress of their jobs. My dad only gave up once he sold all his companies.
