What a total disaster.
When I found that Asda were providing the best price for my iPad 2 I was quite pleased. I was happy to deal with a familiar company rather than some random generic-sounding recycling company.
How wrong I was.
After waiting a week for Asda to call me to arrange a collection date (as described in their confirmation email) for my iPad, I called them. Having waited so long, I had to wait until I was back from our family holidays before having it collected by courier. No problem. Asda were happy to wait until then.
Having collected the iPad, I was then emailed to say they had received it and were checking it over. No problem, I thought, because it had been protected in a case since day one and was flawless. Or so I thought. The next day I was emailed to inform me that I had not sent a 32Gb iPad 2; it was actually a 16Gb iPad 1 with 3G. But, lucky me, they would still recycle it 'for free'. WHAT?!? So they were telling me that rather than receive £100+ for my iPad 2 they were giving me nothing for it!!!
After much emailing and calling, their mistake got sorted out and everything was fine again. Until a couple of days later when I was informed that, because they had received the iPad more than 14 days from the initial date, the valuation was no longer valid and I would only receive £75 for it. Despite the fact that they hadn't been in touch with me, the delay was my fault??
Due to the confusion earlier, they offered an additional £10 but I'd had enough by then and arranged return of the iPad. This cost me £20(!) but I still managed to sell it for almost double what Asda were original offering.
All in all, I was shocked at how bad the entire process was. The call centre agents I spoke to were very helpful, but that doesn't mean much when you feel you are being ripped off by an inept company. Won't go near them again and would never, ever recommend using them. Lesson learned. Avoid avoid avoid!0 -
