Used Asda Tech Trade-In recently as an alternative to selling on eBay and had no problems at all. Used the freepost jiffy bag they sent me (got a proof of posting at the Post Office just in case) and got a good price for my handset. Would use them again.0

Proof of posting s not enough to obtain compensation from RM should the item be lost in transit. It HAS to be sent by SD in order for any payout.0

i've been told by asda tech cs that no compensation from RM for any lost Freepost, so i paid about £2 (recorded) to send my mobile. they received it next day.0 -
Steer clear of ASDA - sent an ipod back for recycling in perfect order, they claim that the audio isn't clear enough after firstly telling there was a fault but don't worry we will recycle it for free. After complaining thet told me what the fault was and said if I wasn't happy I could have it back for a tenner!! I have recycled a fair few gadgets and this is the first time this has happened to me. very angry0

The same has just happened to myself. My contract ended and I took out another contract with another company so i had this old iphone 3gs 16gb.
I seen this article re Asda and thought may as well get some cash for it so they told me it would be 35 pounds. All I was going to do was put it in a drawer anyway so i send it by courier cost me extra 3 pounds.
They signed for it on the tenth and I kept getting we havent got it txt from them so I called them and they said nope we dont have it.
So sensing a scam here i stated you have signed for it as it was tracked and i am looking at the gps signal and its at the postcode of the address.
At this point the lady says she will try and see where it was and give me a call back . She didnt so next day another phone call and yet again sorry we dont have it. So I get all the paperwork from the couier etc.
Asda tech then e-mails me to say the battery is to damaged to recycle and they are offering nothing for it. This is the same phone thats been sending a gps signal for about 6 days now every 12 hours.
These sub contractors for ASDA are scammers dont trust them stick it on ebay or give it to family etc you will be better off doing that. I have made a formal complaint to Asda house as ALL e-mails dont get answered at all also spoke to trading standards re breach of contract which i have also sent.
Its not about the money but the fact i have just been scammed by ASDA TECH TRADE IN dont trust them at all. You have been warned.0 -
I had a first generation 16g Ipod touch, used regularly and in full working order. I looked at several quotes for gadget trade-ins and Asda trade in came in 5 pounds above everyone else so I went ahead and sent the item to them.
Had an email today saying my item wouldn't power on and they would not be offering any money for the ipod. This was baffling as it was fine when I sent it and I never had any problems with it before.
I rang them and they said they would re-assess the item. They said they opened the Ipod up came back to me and said it was water damaged?! I don't know how they can tell this and now the Ipod is probably broken as a result this.
It either got damaged in transit (although I bubble wrapped and boxed it) or the five pounds more they quoted than everyone else was too good to be true. I am gutted, they are ringing me again tomorrow to see if anything can be done. I will have to beg them to send it back (probably for an additional charge) as I can't accept it just happened to break as soon as they got their hands on it. I should have just kept my slightly out of date but fully functioning Ipod and saved this hassle.

I have now received my Ipod touch back after paying £10 for Asda to return it.....it powers on and is in full working order, just as I sent it!
Avoid Asda tech trade in like the plague, if I hadn't paid for it to be returned they would have recycled my item and scammed me out of my money.
Making a formal complaint, this is obviously what they do with loads of the items they charge to be returned. I'm sure most people just take their word for it that their item is busted while they pocket perfectly good gadgets. Furious!0 -
Asda came up with the third highest price when I used the value checker but after reading feedback on the top two and how they usually reduce their offers after receiving the phones, I decided to go with Asda.
Service has been excellent and I have received emails keeping me up to date with progress. I posted the phone last week and received payment this morning for the full amount.
Very easy to deal with and I would certainly recommend them.0 -
I have used Asda Tech Trade and have been happy with them. My only complaint was a few days after I posted my items they sent an email to say they hadn't received them - then 10 minutes later sent another email to say they had received them and were processing my order. Money received quickly and in the amount they said.
I have sent off three more items and received an email at 4.30 this morning (it's a Sunday) to say they haven't arrived so obviously it must be an autoresponse but the first time it happened I was more alarmed. If they could iron out this glitch I would give them 10/10.0
