Ruby I just wanted to say we've been similar ways costly emergency after costly emergency sorry you're not going on higher pay scale. I'm certain only that with the friendship on here we'll both get there.
I hope u work it out xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -
You will indeed both get there :T :T :T Ruby, when thinking about how many days - does your travel cost you? If it does, you're much better doing 3 days than 5. What about childcare or whatever? What kinds of things will you be doing on the other days? Will you have more fun in 2 whole days? More opportunity to get out?
Also think about the job - if you're there for a morning, will there be a chance you'll be asked to stay on into the afternoon, or be tempted to if someone else is off sick, for example? Much less likely to happen if you're not there at all that dayIf you work afternoons, will you actually get up and do something for yourself in the morning, or will it get frittered away?
I personally would be tempted to work 3 full days and have the other two wholly away from work to concentrate on other things (also easier to take on extra somewhere else if necessary if you've got full days available?)
Just some thoughts, hope they help! xx What's your business?
I most certainly am NOT growing turnips Tricia - I decided I wasn't growing veg any more
I have had a LOVELY evening :j :j :j :j :j :j Been out orchard surveying, with a friend (ex-ex-mr-daffs actually). First two were at a place he knows, so his friend was there, so we did a bit of polytunnel watering (thought of you pippi, it was gorgeous there!), and he gave us some courgettes and a chilli plant :T :T Then we ambled round their orchard ticking boxes and poking into holes looking for beetle poo :rotfl: :rotfl:
Gorgeous evening, sunset beautiful :T Then we went next door and had a chat with a farmer - entirely pointless as his orchard had been destroyed in a great storm - in 1961 :rotfl: Goodness knows why it was on my list! :rotfl:
Then came back here for some snapLovely evening :T :T
Yep cheri, the door arrived, and I'm very excited :T :T Just waiting for the quote to come in the post now and then will crack on with it. We're going on holiday with the bloke who's going to fit the door at the weekend, so I'll pin him down to a date then : T:T :T Getting there!
Tomorrow I'm in York, and we've got a meeting all morning which will be quite cheery i think (although suspect boss will be a little stressed...). Free lunch thoughAlthough have to do rather a lot of cake avoidance - pah.
Anyway, will quit waffling now :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Orchard surveys! How wonderful.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
-
How many fruit bearing trees does it take to constitute an orchard?Trying to shift that debt!0
-
Is that the start of a joke Skint?? :rotfl: :rotfl: Some of these were just in gardens, there's a box for 1-10 old trees, 1-10 new trees, so not many it seems!
<yawn> Didn't sleep well last night, never do when mr Daffs not there and I end up falling asleep on the sofa in front of the tvHad our advisory group this morning, so meeting from 10-1, and lots of fried nonsense for lunch (buffet, and only 6 of us, so couldn't very well not eat it, pah!). Managed a piece of carrot cake too though - oh dear!
Now I've got 3 hours left in the office, and plenty to do, so best crack on! :T Going away for the weekend tomorrow night, so that'll need sorting out when I get home - although don't want to do too much sorting of the car in case we can't take it cos it's broke!
(but not going to think about that now...)0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Thats the best - if weirdest
- excuse I've ever heard for not cleaning the car :j
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I don't need an excuse for not cleaning the car
However, I don't want to mess about putting the bed in the back if the garage won't let us drive it! (I think the tracking is gone - or something...)
Home now - just - and bleeding exhausted!0 -
Well, now I just had to pop in and share how proud of myself I am this evening :j :j Several reasons:
(1) I haven't spent anything today - other than two budgeted-for 50p bus fares :T :T And I actually saved £1 on another bus fare that was budgeted for :T :T
(2) I was so tired when I got in this evening, and so hungry, and just wanted to stuff myself with weetabixHowever, I remembered the vile buffet I'd had for lunch (which I ate an absolutely minimal amount of, given I'm still doing slimming world stuff - and actually ate my own lunch when I got out :T) - anyway, remembering buffet, I figured I could do with a 'free food' tea... rummaged through the cupboards, and landed up with chick peas, part of a giant free courgette I got given yesterday, 2 scrambled eggs - topped with Smash :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Don't think I'm going to win Masterchef :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: But it was just as satisfying as weetabix, and is 'free' which means I'm pretty much on even keel with slimming world today, despite the cake :T :T
(3) There was a meeting of the local transitions group this evening - I used to hang out with them a lot, and it all got abandoned in the run up to phd endingREALLY wanted to go, but SO tired I just HAD to go home. After I'd eaten though, I decided I'd kick myself if I didn't go, and it was only a short walk away, so dragged my shoes on and booted myself out of the door. In fact, they were just leaving :rotfl: :rotfl: but it was nice to see them again, I got a free bag of home grown lettuce :T and am going out with them again in a few weeks :T :T :T
And NOW, after all my efforts with food and sociability, I am going to curl up on the sofa and slob out :T (actually, I REALLY wanted to do some of my pilates video, but I think I may just have to be excused that one since if I lie down to start the warm up I think I'll just fall straight asleep! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Plans for tomorrow? Working at home - got notes of today's l---o---n---g meeting to write up, dentist at 10.20, some scary phone calls, then head down and crack on with another piece of work. Mr Daffs is taking the car to the garage first thing, so fingers crossed it's nowt serious and easily fixed.... Meant to be heading up to the dales - if the car's bust I'll have to find us a lift, and dig out the tent etc, bleurgh! so let's hope it's not!
Right - snoooooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze0 -
My gut feeling is for 3 days as well. As usual I'm thinking about everyone else first and myself last so seeing you lay it down like that is really helpful
:):):) I work in a school so childcare kind of comes with the job
. Transport costs depend on weather and my legs! It's a very short drive or a medium length walk if I'm organised. The walk option is better for sooo many reasons (finance, health, weight, environment).
My business/self employed work is as an antenatal teacher. I have always worked through a charity but I will be going it alone now. Eek! I'm hoping to study for a diploma in massage to. I have a million non-work related things to that could potentially bring in odd pockets of money - refurbishing furniture, sewing, crafting. All things I'd like to get better at.
Lovely bf has made me lovely dinner and now lovely captain jack harkness is back on tv so i'm going to go and drool over him whislt putting an absolutely horrendous day behind me! Welcome back captain jack!Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73
Debt to family and friends £270/540 Total Debt £22604.95/22874.95 :embarasse0 -
I'd go with your gut feeling then Ruby! :T If it's spread over 5 days, I can just see it spreading out to FILL those 5 days before you know it...
Well, so much for my going to bed! :rotfl: Had a bit of a second wind, and headed up to the attic to make a fabric cover for my diary :T :T Started on one, and it wasn't right. Started another - that wasn't right either :rotfl: Ended up cutting an old map and gluing it to the front
Mr Daffs is home now (I can hear the brakes on the car squeaking :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:) so cup of tea and then REALLY I'm going to bed0
