Yay cheery what a productive, delicious (?!?!) day and lovely you made it to the end of a meeting, sounds like you've had too long meetings today anyway xxxx
Ruby go with your gut feeling, they are generally right xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -
Ah, but this one was in a polytunnel in the community garden round the corner - not *quite* the same, and definitely worth going to
:T :T :T
Busy day today - have changed sheets, had shower and breakfast, cleaned bathroom and put washing away. Going to wash up while kettle boils, then set to with work, before going to the dentist.
FINGERS CROSSED for car in garage - I want to go to the dales tonight, and if we can't drive the car, we're going to struggle!  Will have to start ringing round to see if we can get a lift, but suspect other people aren't going from same town, or are going in vans with only 2 seats.... blithering awkward friends!(should point out that we only have 2 seats too :rotfl:)
Ah well, if we can't go, we can't go - plenty to do here! :T Let's see first though shall we??
:coffee:0 -
Definitely, fingers crossed for the car. I really hope you get to the Dales! And you really are all set to go, thats the attitude
The loveliness of meetings in polytunnels .... wonderful. There's a transitions meeting here in September, which is definitely in the diary. It sort of died a death, apparently, but they're looking at starting up again, which would be a wonderful way to meet local people.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ours has mosly been kept going by one older woman tending the garden - the rest of us drop in and out as the mood/work/life takes us... We got some funding to make a community garden behind a pub, but at the last minute the brewery decided they didn't want it  Things kind of fizzled a bit after that! But I'm ready and raing to go back, and we'll see!
There's plenty goin on in other groups around the city here - one group is setting up a CSA scheme!
Right - must work!0 -
Right, been to dentist - got to have filling out and replaced. Good - this is the 3rd time I've been back and he's told me it's got 'leaky margins' and patched it up and it hurts again - hopefully this'll sort it out for good! :T
Mr Daffs took car to garage, but he's not back, and his phone's here so I can't ring, so I have NO idea what's going on with the car (should have been back by now though, he wasn't planning on waiting for it!). Ah well, will have to be patient
Oh, and I've made myself a collapsable hula hoopBemused the blokes in the plumbing shop, who were very good sports and even tried to demonstrate
Two fellas in the hardware shop are used to my bizarre requests for random things, and very helpful
So, for the grand total of £6, I have a large grey waste pipe hoop, with two easy-to-undo connectors :j :j :j And for £2, I have some fabulous orange and black tape to make it nice and stripy like a bumble bee:j :j :j :j
TRYING to be patient and wait to do the stripes til I'm on holiday this evening :rotfl: (or alternatively til I'm sitting at home sulking because I'm NOT on holiday :rotfl:) Work doesn't seem very interesting right now sadly! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
(I should point out I already DO have a hula hoop, a very nice sparkly one, but it's very small, and I can't do it. My friend has an enormous and quite heavy one, very easy and lovely to twirl in, and I wanted one, but it would have been a pain to carry in the car. This one splits in to two straight lengths of pipe, so can just go down the back of the seats :j :j :j :j :j VERY pleased! :j :j :j :j0 -
Ok.... have just had my quotes from the builders....
Sorting out the roof tiles - £362 plus VAT (this will HAVE to be done at some point anyway)
Finishing off my fiasco in the garden... £495 plus VAT   Hmm - might have a rethink on this one! Sadly they haven't broken the quote down so I can't see how much it'd cost to sort out just part of it. Might have a word with door-fitting man and see if he can suggest anyone else.
Oh, and plastering bedroom ceiling - £970 plus vat  :eek  Will stare at bare plasterboards for a while longer I think!
(aha - that sounds like my car arriving back! :T :T Which hopefully means we can go on holiday! :T :T :T Best put kettle on)

Fab idea re collapsible hula hoop!
Plastering, while difficult, is DIY-able isn't it? A colleague did it himself but not sure how much help he had etc.Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
Er, nope it doesn't
Car is home - but isn't allowed to go very far in case it overheats and rots through the wheelbearings, or something (those may not have been the exact words used by the mechanic :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:) Anyway, we can go about town, and it won't fall apart immediately, but the mechanic himself wouldn't drive to the dales, so we won't be doing either. Booked in for next Friday.
So - have got a couple of numbers for other people going camping who may have space in car. One of them I don't know very well, and the other I don't know at allMust say I'm tempted to stay here and have a weekend in
although I think we should at least make a tiny bit of an effort to find out, it'll be a shame to miss it! Will wait til Mr Daffs gets back up again and then see...

It sounds like an adventure to me!!
Sorry about pesky car thoughWeight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
Ooh, didn't see you there VL!
Plastering may well indeed be DIY-able in general, but this is a kind of apex roof type thing - the floor/ceiling has been knocked out leaving a mezzanine thing on half of the room, and this really high up apex ceiling on the other half. I have absolutely NO idea how to go about plastering something that is at nose height, never mind 20 feet above my head! And I also have very little desire to learnSee all my posts about trying to do the garden myself and eventually realising it would be easier to get someone else to do it :rotfl:
However, given the extortionate charge, we're going to ignore the ceiling for now, and I'm going to have another think about the gardenSO frustrating, I just want the damn thing done, and I'm really struggling to get someone to do it! I'm not entirely sure how they can justify charging nearly £600 for something that will take probably less than a day?? (mind you, it's taken me months so far! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:)
