I have just read through this thread and wanted to say well done for the weight loss and for taking steps to turn things around.

I was dx'd with type 2 about 10 years ago. I was over weight, but not by a lot (size 14, 11.5 stone). I managed to control it by diet for years and then for no reason anyone can see, it went out of control last year and I ended up on metformin.

But it gave me a wake up call, and I joined slimming world and a bellydance class. Over the past year I have lost a stone in weight and am now a comfortable size 12. I am aiming to lose another half stone by the end of this year. My Diabetes has stabilised, and though I am staying on the tablets the doseage is at the minimum.

My advice is to stick with the support of a slimming group, and find exercise that you enjoy doing so it isn't a chore. I love dancing - I'm a middle aged clod-hopper but that doesn't matter.

You are doing do well. It is early days, hang in there, and be proud of yourself!

Thanks daisy, not been on this thread for a while as been updating my Blog on the weight watchers website which I joined using the free membership just for the forum and blooging tools.

So far my results have been:
    Week 1 loss of 3lbs
Week 2 loss of 1/2 lbs
    Week 3 loss of 1 1/2 llbs
    Week 4 stayed the same
    Week 5 loss of 4lbs

So total of 9lbs and only need to lose 2lbs this week to hit my 5% goal...
