    This thread's a farce.

By the example set we should boast about receiving any kind of service from any company because no-one here has got any kind of preferential treatment despite claims opposing this fact.
as i said you have achieved nothing that you wouldn't have got anyway without all the moaning.

Not as dumb as you....imagine the loss of face! If they were serious, they'd have given you a package tracking number by now.
You don't recognise a setup when you see it do you nonemore?:D Straight in, both feet!

But good thinking about the tracking number. I'll see if I can get one ...

Edit for Update 2: Philip received a written apology yesterday soon after the delivery was confirmed - he hadn't checked his mail for 24 hours. I also have received a written apology assuring me that the delivery is being overseen and that because it isn't a normal courier arrangement but will be a special pickup and delivery tomorrow, no tracking number will be available. I am happy with that!

Edit for Update1: Well the hotline can see I am to receive it pm tomorrow from a special courier company, but as they 'never' use special couriers in normal course and the hotline don't actually know this one, we've agreed I will drop Andrew a quick email to ask if he can get me a tracking number when he has a moment.

For those of you still waiting for yours from Argos and a little uncertain when it might arrive, then I am advised that they really are doing their best and they haven't relaxed yet but at least they have now found the time to be nice on the phone. The general case is that not all the outstanding ones will have arrived by Wednesday, but the bulk of the Argos backlog is hoped to be fully sorted by Thursday.

    Yes.

    Hmm. Ten Character limit.

EDIT: Does Phillip understand apologies? If he doesn't get the concept of being let down how does he cope with the idea of someone apologising for letting him down?

    You still here Aluminium?

Philip only saw the mail a couple of hours ago after I contacted his family to ask - apparently he said "Well at least that's something". He understands sincere words, you see. The apology to him quite thoughtfully did not include further delivery promises. As we know, even the best laid plans (and my judgement of Andrew's efforts is that this is now one of them) can still go wrong. If Philip had been given tomorrow's date and it had gone wrong again, then that would have been a stupid risk to expose him to, since both he and we know Argos are so unreliable.

So all he knows is that we are all working hard to try to make sure that it will still get delivered in time for him to actually have it in his hands when he originally expected to.

I understand that he is of the opinion that the chances of that happening are remote.

He will be told the good news the moment I get my hands on it tomorrow afternoon.

Is that all ok by you, me old metal mucker?:D

    I think it's an outrage.

Why couldn't Phillip understand a contract being BUSTED if the person that told him was sincere?

Sincerity is in the eye of the beholder, oh shiney grey one!

To sincerely communicate the wholly unreasonable busting of a contract by your employer is quite a feat, but whether achieved or not, doesn't exactly communicate any logic, nor any care in the head of the person who attempts it. Unless that person somehow manages to sincerely apologise on behalf of their company AND simultaneously show that someone really cares enough to put things right by pulling out all the stops, the exercise is bound to fail and no right-thinking person should agree to attempt it.

To sincerely communicate a full apology is quite another matter. Real caring has to be demonstrated through actions as well as well spoken or written words. Some people are better than others, and I decided early on that Andrew was one such. My faith was wobbled a bit for a while after it seemed he may have been criticised by his employer, but ultimately he made a strong decision to do what was necessary to follow through.

Not many people are so true to their word in the face of ridicule by their peers, and other adverse criticisms and difficulties. It's all about promises when all is said and done, and what saw this through in the end was actually based on promises Andrew made to himself long ago, no-one else. His take on right and wrong if you like (different to yours perhaps).

And so it came to pass that a man came from the North, whose sole purpose was to bring forth gifts to the worthy and to marvel at the machinations of those that sent him. And the man said unto the believer "Verily, did you but know, the sacrifice made in order to bring these gifts before you this day exceeds even the price you paid for them at Argos" and he smiled and was gone; gone to rejoin the winding road made known to him by his masters and one that could only be marvelled at in its meanderings to protect the worthy.

And a throng ten thousand fold knew it was so.

    Here endeth the lesson.

    a load of tripe AGAIN.

You know when you keep saying something really funny and you and your friends all laugh about it? My mate Simon found this joke about Tarzan really funny when we were kids, like, couldn't walk because he laughed so hard when you told him the punchline. That was pretty funny for us so we used to say it to him every now and again and it'd make us laugh because he laughed so hard.
Anyway, the point is that jokes wear out and this thread has been pushed to the limit I think. It's threadbare if you like.

    Bye.
