Well I never,
Someone has deleted all the posts....???0 -
Yep ... looks like it ... too hot to handle.
Not MSE's fault, just some unscrupulous lawyers giving Martin absolute hell I bet.
It was a certainly a hot flyaway type of thread!
Hopefully Argos and E UK got at least part of the message (don't f**K with the customers - they can play hardball too!)
Actually the last post I saw was from someone named andrewk (no relation to the two Andrews at Home Retail Group I have been dealing with I am sure). It was from someone who was trying to use a bit of corporate legal humour with a dash of latin, but interestingly had a postscript:
* By reading this statement, you accept that peterbaker is a troll. All replies to this post must begin with "peterbaker is a troll". Failure to include this statement will incur a penalty of £50, which should be paid to Wollocks Bank account 23985467.
Amazing how a thread like this exercises brains obviously capable of creating things rather than knocking them down. Hey ho! Tell you what I'll give him his oxygen again; here's what he wrote:andrewk wrote:Originally Posted by peterbaker
And what's all the nonsense about "it's always possible to breach a contract" and then it's just a matter of parties or some such?
That's about as useful a comment as saying "It's always possible to murder someone who says things you don't like" and then it's just a matter of running.
Rebuttal by derision then deeply flawed analogy. Well, you could have done worse. I'll indulge you...
It's always possible to, yes: it's a matter of the consequences. You haven't established what Argos said the consequences would be if they failed to deliver. When they failed to deliver, you were left saying "what now?".

You seem to have got caught up in the small print game. You are conditioned to expect it - poor you - how on earth do you read it all?
Ah, the good old non sequitur. I don't know why I'm replying, because you'll conclude something entirely illogical from whatever I say here.
Suffice to say, if I expect something, that does not mean I accept it. At least it means that I'm seldom disappointed and I'm better equipped to deal with it.
Quote:
Thankfully, small print is not English common law. It is all merely designed by unscrupulous lawyers to defeat gullible masses.
...and a good old utterly irrelevant point combined with a flawed assumption to finish.
It's obvious that terms in a contract are not necessarily legal.
Now, back under your bridge!0 -
Can we have a quote from MSE as to why the other thread was closed?
Was it because PB put so much pressure on Argos that the lawyers were all falling over themselves to try and silence him?
Or was it everyone being so mean about his small, foreign, ADHD-suffering, wii-deprived, intelligence lacking, but incredibly intelligent little boy?0 -
Getting rid is a joke, that thread was the most entertaining thing i've read in ages.0

Well yesterday I wrote this and I was wrong..........
''Heres why I,m abit annoyed, no not annoyed (in context its only a computer) but abit disappointed with ARGOS.......
When I put my order in and paid in full, up front they gave me the guarantee it would be here on Dec 8th and I did'nt beleive the Argos employee. So I asked to speak to his manager (who's name I got) and he gave me the same guarantee, so I asked for it in writing, he declined. We even got to the point were we joked saying no one asks for the manager when ordering !!!!
My order was put in late October...........I think its time for a MSE petition against Argos.''
They kept their guarantee and today I have my Wii. When I phoned to ask they apparently just had just forgotten to call me.0 -
