Don't await too long in that condition - I recommend tongue-brushing with Listerine for cases like that!0 -
peterbaker wrote:I like the WikiP reminder about saving the hunted fox - personally I don't mind twisting, turning or barking up in any direction if I get what I am after in the end!
Do bear in mind that I said clearly in the other thread what I was seeking to achieve:
1) To embarrass Argos so that they would think very carefully about breaking promises like this again.
2) To persuade them that they couldn't disappoint Philip of all people because he just wouldn't understand how they could be so heartless as to break the promise they gave him in person in return for his savings. I.e. to re-secure Philips order so he at least would still receive it on time.
(I hope I've remembered this more or less accurately - unfortunately I can't go back and check because the thread disappeared completely on Friday lunchtime, didn't it?)
I now have a high level of confidence that I will receive the Wii on Wednesday. I could not have got that level of confidence any other way, could I?0 -

Peterbaker - I sincerely hope that your posts are some sort of attention seeking jokes, otherwise I think you may have theraputical needs which cannot be met by posting on MSE.
Personally I think that Argos are sick and tired of hearing from you, you got let down like many other people. Get a life it is a games console!0 -
...and you think that I might heed what you say FloFlo? Don't flatter yourself.
I am sure Argos are fed up with me. Attention-seeking? Yes, attention to what Argos have done, not attention for me. I fully intended it after their courtesy call (sic) ended last Wednesday. Read the headline. It is imprinted on your brain, like it or not. You saw it here. You clicked on it. It is amazing what people have remembered from the first thread. It means they read it all.
So, quite unlike the many other people who got similarly let down, I might actually be one person who really has made Argos regret stuffing me!
It's just a games console, you say. You sound like the eBay Seller who lied several times to me and said my £10 purchase was in the post - when challenged to come clean about why she'd suddenly acquired several negative feedbacks all from complainants like mine finally said "well so what - it's none of your business - why are you making a fuss about ten measly quid?"
Edit: (Prompted by Aluminium's observations) ... To make it clear that I do not think FloFlo is a liar or a cheat like the eBay Seller I was describing, but merely that her final sentiments on the matter were dangerously similar.0 -

 That's something we can finally ALL agree on.peterbaker wrote:Read the headline. It is imprinted on your brain, like it or not. You saw it here. You clicked on it.
Doesn't change a thing. If I read "drinking beer on a friday night at about 9 o clock makes hair sprout from your eyes" written on the MSE forum I don't think "blimey, better stop drinking beer on friday nights" I think "What UTTER TOSS IS THIS?" then I might go read the thread. I'd probably leave thinking "WHAT UTTER TOSS".peterbaker wrote:It is amazing what people have remembered from the first thread. It means they read it all.
It was compelling, definitely. I can remember loads of things that've made me laugh though, particular scenes in films, nights out with friends, clips from the radio. If something REALLY makes you laugh often it's imprinted on your memory, that's why people remember the details, I'm suire. This thread's rubbish by comparisson. COME ON! Why's Phillip more deserving? What's wrong with your kids in comparisson? Where does Phillip live? What's he doing now? Does he play board games regularly? What does he get up to with his friends?
THESE are the things people want to read about. Get with the program. :mad:peterbaker wrote:So, quite unlike the many other people who got similarly let down, I might actually be one person who really has made Argos regret stuffing me!
I don't think they wanted to "stuff" you at any point. Unfortunately suplly has been outstripped by demand and they couldn't do anything about it.peterbaker wrote:It's just a games console, you say. That's not AT ALL what FloFlo sounds like. There's no paralell to be drawn. Unless the ebay seller said you had "therapeutical needs" in that instance I will agree that FloFlo does sound like that ebay seller who lied several times to you and said your £10 purchase was in the post.
Incidentally, what happened there? You ordered, paid and then waited and complained? Then what happened? The suspense is killing me, we know that you're someone who "gets things done", after all.
How do you add a signature to posts? I'd like mine to say YOU'VE SEEN IT. YOU CAN'T UN-SEE IT.0 -

I complained to eBay and then gave up because they aren't interested in policing petty criminals who steal a tenner at a time.YOU'VE SEEN IT. YOU CAN'T UN-SEE IT.0 -
peterbaker wrote:Course they did. The moment they selected me for their list of "dear John" phonecalls they wanted to stuff me alongwith 2,500 others. They especially wanted to stuff me in particular by the end of their courtesy call(sic). Remember they had already labelled me as awkward by then. But nevertheless as of lunchtime today, they have found a way to manipulate it, right?Incidentally, what happened there? You ordered, paid and then waited and complained? Then what happened?

Exactly ... and you saw it here - and I am so pleased you keep coming back for more!
What happened at lunchtime today? Have you got a Wii? If not when will? I'd imagine you'll be screaming "victory!11!!" at about the time Nintendo release a second shipment.
RE: Ebay, so you don't get stuff done?
Poor Phillip.0 -

As for my £10 lost on that eBay transaction. It was my ten quid, so no-one else is poor as a result. Now if you can tell me how I can get it back economically without risking arrest for harrassment then you are a better man than I GD.0 -
All said and done ...has anyone back here on planet earth been contacted by Argos concerning the 2nd batch of deliveries? Is it def. wednesday for the 2nd batch? ...just starting to get edgy again now......I would love some decent telly on a Saturday night0
