Checked at midnight last night to see what tickets were available so I was prepared this morning. Got up at 5.30am:eek: and logged in at 6am and the price ranges that it said were available last night weren't available this morning!!! Only the expensive ones, typical.
Submitted an application for tickets at 6.35am but no confirmation email yet. has everyone else had their first email yet?0 -

I've got a reference number, my application is showing on my account but I haven't got a confirmation email, so I'm guessing I didn't get tickets....

The Olympic Games Tickets article on the BBC News website says:
Applicants will find out whether they have been successful within 24 to 48 hours of applying. Payment will be taken once the sale closes at 1800 BST on 3 July.

Liz / Blue, if your account on the LOCOG website shows your application is in, then that's all you need. You should get an e-mail from them that confirms the same info, but I wouldn't worry if you don't. The criticla e-mail is in another 24-48 hours when they confirm if you actually got any of the tickets you went for.
My understanding is that because the site was never designed to do first come first served, there are some poor sods supporting this who are manually closing events as the number of applications exceeds the tickets available.
So people who applied for tickets for an event after the event had 'run out' but before the person shut it down manually will not get those tickets.
It looks like most events with limited spaces were sold out in the opening minutes, including all of the cheap tickets. I couldn't actually get on properly at 6am, and when I got an application off at 11am on a second try there was pretty much only volleyball, hockey, handball and a preliminary in women's greco-roman wrestling.
Not sure there's going to be much left for the 3rd wave going on sale next week...0 -
I toyed with getting some this morning but figures what was the point of paying £200 to watch something for a paltry 2 hours, that I did not want to watch. So in the end I decided not to bother and I'll wait for the Paraolympics and then for the ones that go on official resale later in the year.
I nearly bought the road race I was desperate for some then I got a grip and figured I could see that for free.
On another note, the tickets for the paraolympics are very cheap, maybe they could give us priority on those to applicants who got nothing - you pay for sailing for Aug 2012 but for the paraolympics it is free, I think it's quite an insult to disabled people to have tickets up for a medal giving event for £500 for Aug 2012 but for the PO the medal giving event costs £50 for the top tier, free for sailing. I think I am going to have to step up a gear and apply for more of the PO ones, because they are cheaper we can apply for more anyway. (little rant over, sorry)0 -
I managed to get through to the helpline in the end, and they confirmed that my application is complete even though I still haven't got the confirmation email.
So, fingers crossed
