Hi, they are saying this weather will last to the end of the month, lets hope the country does not run out of gas, because I might be able to survive with the food stocks we have in, but if we have nothing to cook it on then we will have problems.:eek::eek:

I heard that too - makes you wonder why we have to pay so much for services we don't get.
We haven't had our bins picked up for 3 weeks so DH had to take loads up the local tip today think I will deduct the cost of the diesel from my council tax
I have dug out the camping stove and bought some extra butane just in case

Oh dear - just realised the store cupboard and the freezer are full but running desperately short of loo rolls. So busy concentrating on keeping the mouth end stocked up that forgot about the inevitable consequences :rotfl:
And the snow is now coming down thick and fast here.

Ive considered this toilet roll dilema on many occasions, my solution would be rags, cotton ones, which could possibly be buried/composted. Not sure if it would work, but I think Id do that because I cant think of anything else. I dont fancy washing the rags really...
I have loads of cut up clothes in a rag bag out in the shed, so, well prepared! :D

Do you not get any newspapers or free newspapers delivered where you live? :D

(Considering the **** they print these days, it's probably a very apt use for them!)

Have a storecupboard of items I have stockpiled over the last year or so. Loads of dried beans, flour, dried milk, various tins, plus fresh veg and eggs bought today. I can make bread in the breadmaker if it runs out. Kids think they will be off school tomorrow (no snow here yet though) so wanted to make sure I dont need to go shopping tomorrow. Not much petrol in the car but thats a good excuse not to go too far anyway.

:rotfl:Well... you know, we dont; we have to go get a free paper from various shops if we want one...and we use them for firelighting and making paper bricks...so rags are the only other thing I can think of!

Im so unorganised I have about 3 slices of bread left and a pint of milk. The fridge is looking pretty bare too apart from strangely, 4 different varieties of cheese:confused:
However I do have enough tins in the cupboard to sink a small ship & a few meals in the freezer that I have previously made and frozen.

I might have to get my wellies on in the morning & venture over to Asda if they haven't completely sold out of bread & milk that it. My auntie sent her daughter over earlier for 10 loaves  - there are only 3 of them!

If we run out then I'll be fine for toiletries. Not so fine for loo roll or anything else though! Think I can manage fruit and veg wise for a week. Meat/ fish well, let's say it may do me good to get snowed in!
I'm at work now and don't know how I'll get home. We've only just got it yesterday. We've had thick frosts for 2 weeks but no snow. We rarely get snow on the south west coast but this is the 2nd year running! Kids said they'll be off school tomorrow if it snows. I'm back in work tomorrow night so I'll be knackered if I have to stay up with them all day then come back to work :(

Mr K works in the gas industry and I absolutely promise you that we will not run out of gas in the next month  all that happens is that as the gas prices rise, the marginal wells that cost more to get the gas out of are brought back on line (flick of a switch - very important job that!).

There are also two interconnecting pipelines bringing gas into the country from Holland and Norway so we can call on their supplies too. As a point of interest we havent been self sufficient in gas since 2001 and we have managed so far :D
