  • We went out this morning and stocked up on fresh milk, long Life milk, bread, eggs and veg; the freezers and cupboards are still full from christmas and the car is full of diesel and we have plenty of de-icer so we are well prepared i estimate we can keep going for at least a month.
If any bills come I have got the cash to pay at the local shop (well I will send DH to pay them) because of my dodgy knees there is no way I will risk the ice and snow.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

We don't have any bread at all. Just a few frozen rolls in the freezer, but not a lot.
About a pint of milk. Loads of tins of soup, packets of pasta, frozen chips, chocolates galore, hot chocolate drinks, fizzy pop, beans and more beans.

I'm in North west too, and couldn't go into work today as my little girls nursery was closed. snow is about 9 inches deep in places! But i think i am stocked up well enough for quite a few days- all thanks to this board tbh! We have flour and eggs and sugar and salt- a cupbard full of tomatoes and herbs etc. And a freezer full of meat!

We have used the time today to make an Orange cake and just cooked up a huge pan full of sausage and veggies in a tomato sauce with some rice thrown in to bulk it out. Even if we had nothing else in, this will last us 3 days!

Hope everyone else is coping well!

North west here too, both DS and DD1 schools shut and OH couldn't get to work. He tried 3 routes in but after nearly 2 hours and seeing many crashes he phoned his boss up to say he couldn't get in (we even rang the bus company who had stopped running to where he works as they stated they "couldn't get through" . His boss was asking to go home himself as he went in early and was worried about going home.

Not seen snow like this for years. So if we havn't got it I won't be buying it lol. We have a full freezer and loads left over from Christmas/New year. Got flour and bread flour so if bread etc runs out can just get baking :T. Will live without milk if it runs out.

  • As I started hoarding food last summer in anticipation/fear of becoming unemployed my food cupboards are groaning with stuff, even though I lost my job in October. If I couldn't buy another morsel of anything I reckon I've got enough stashed away to last until about spring, except for fresh milk and eggs but in a pinch I could do without them, really. Interestingly, when I went to my local Lidl this afternoon they had no fresh eggs at all in stock.
  • ALDI trip this morning...2 bags of baking spuds
    1 bag of carrots
    1 bag of onions
    1 bunch spring onions
    2 packs of cherry tomatoes
    1 tub of red grapes
    1 bag of clementines
2 frozen fish thingies (for tonight, no more room in tiny freezer)
    1 tub cream cheese
    1 packet frikadellen
    1 packet kabanos
    1 packet German ham
    1 doz. eggs
    1 loaf bread
    2 loaves tomato ciabatta
    1 pack wholemeal pitta
    1 pack crumpets
    2 packs mozzarella
    500g mince
    8pts milk
    500ml plain yoghurt
    tin baked beans
    1 pack butter
    2 boxes cat food

Coupled with the tea bags, fish fingers, frozen rolls, LIDL frozen chicken breasts, frozen sausages, cheese, tinned goods and veggies already indoors, I think we could probably stick things out for about 4 months!

Hi, they are saying this weather will last to the end of the month, lets hope the country does not run out of gas, because I might be able to survive with the food stocks we have in, but if we have nothing to cook it on then we will have problems.:eek::eek:
  • IF my shopping gets here tonight I'll be ok for a while. I hate to go without milk so I have dried and uht milk in, I can make bread, theres loads of meat and veg and fruit in freezer. More concerned about if we lose electricity and cant keep warm OR bake anything - like bread for example; or if the pipes freeze and theres no water. Although...there is a well under my garden hmmmm....

Yes, went out on Boxing Day to Argos and stocked up on 20 Terry's chocolate oranges for 12.5p each :)

Been a struggle every day for more than two weeks to get out but it seems to be only making the news now?
