  • You can always ring and ask, some banks are quicker than others.
  • Just received my statements from RBoS, and the letter contained this cryptic line "unfortunatley our archives do not contain records from January 2001 to May 2001 for your account"

What the bloody hell does that mean? Surely all my account details cannot have gone awol for 5 months.

Any advice on what my rights are?

Second, there is a spiel about manual intervention and how this is done in accordance with T&C blah blah blah. But no details of my account....

Thirdly, the statements arrived in a ripped envelope, which is totally unnaceptable.

What's my best course of action?
  • Asked for them on the 9th Jan complete with cheque and Data protection request to have info with 40 days. Received a letter saying that they would be with us in 10 working days on 29th Jan. Phoned today after trying the number on the letter (which incidently didn`t work) after about 1 hr onto the 0845 number found out my statements havn`t been ordered yet, claim there must have been a fault. Said they have now reordered them and guess what, they should be with us in 10 days. The 40 days is up next tuesday. Do I give them until next friday or contact the information comissioner if the statements are not received by next tuesday? As you can imagine really peeved off with the halifax.

Good luck with the Halifax. My friend had to ask 3 times before they sent what he had asked for. Twice they sent statements for the past 2 years.

Persevere it will be worth it in the end.

I am in the same situation, but they never cleared the cheque (Been overdrawn for 2 weeks), would anyone advise that I send them the next letter with the amount in a postal order? Or carry on regardless....

I am with Lloyds and still havent heard anything. The 40 days are up tomorrow, so Im going to read up on this site tonight and carry on anyway. (They havent even taken the £10 and I am over my overdraft). I am also pooping it, but once started its worth carrying on....
  • As the company have said that they are unable to provide me with a list of charges.

Has anyone else gone down this route and how did you get on?
  • Hi everyone,

I posted my initial letter to HSBC asking for a summary of charges for the previous 6 years. Copied the standard letter off this site and included a cheque for £10.00.

I posted the letter to HSBC on 6th February (today is 15th) and the cheque has not been taken from my account yet. How long does it take for them to do this or do you think they are just ignoring me?

    Thanks

    Alex
