So in the interest of road safety and removing such behaviour from our roads, if you experience seriously poor driving from commercial vehicle drivers MAKE A COMPLAINT!! and if they don't listen, mention video's and mention Youtube!
With modern technology we can make sure that the days of the classic "white van man" are VERY numbered!![/QUOTE]

Hmmm, I wonder what his reaction to you would have been if you'd just driven past a queue of traffic and tried to pull in front of him, remember that post Strider?. You can't have it both ways chap.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    Strider.
I used to drive like you, but as I got older I sort of grew up.

I realise now that most of the "near miss" situations I got myself into were the result of my own aggresive pacy driving.

Yes SOME other road users are totally useless and incompetent, but if you were to just ease off a little bit you would find you would hardly ever need to use the brakes never mind stomp on them.

These days I try to drive as smoothly as possible to save fuel.
I look ahead trying to spot possible idiots so that I can avoid them without braking (just lift my accelerator foot) and it really does make for a much happier drive.;)

    Chill..:)

But if he drove with suitable consideration for the traffic around him, he'd never catch anything on his camera to complain about.

Always handy to have a camera on board for this reason.

As a rule, I never let vans or taxi's out.
As a rule,i let any vehicle out if it is appropriate to do so and it eases the flow of traffic and/or avoids a greater danger.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    absolutely!

It's so easy to do.....the only downside I have come across is the inability to wear out one's brakes.........

[bought new discs/pads for current O-Ber..last July [on offer at a specialist]......35-40 miles round trip commute, plus loads of long-distance running about.... usual stuff....decide to change brakes when old one's wore out the pads.....got fed up with waiting at Easter so changed them anyway.....broke my heart to bin perfectly usable pads, with discs still just within min.thickness.......tyres take some wearing out too...all chinese ditch-finders as well...cheap-as-chips....]
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Tyres have to actually provide some grip to be wearing at all ;).

If I have a !!!!!!!! behind me who is driving up my chuff, then I will let out as many people as possible from junctions :)

Strider - on your original post on this thread, I agree, my old man is a mechanic at a large garage, that sells new and used, has a large service dept and a parts delivery service. One of the drivers is a bit of a nutter on the road, and because he does it in a van with company name and phone numbers on it, he's had complaints made about him and he has been disciplined due to the garage concerned for their reputation.

On the chat with your videos, I have watched a lot of them and think that in some cases you are just as bad as some of the people who try to block you passing or pull out on you. I had an incident in Leeds on thursday where on the loop road i indicated out and pulled out to overtake on the dual carriageway, and a van driver raced upto my !!!! as i was passed the car and started flashing his lights etc. He got out his van at the traffic lights, and when i saw he was about 5 foot 4, i did something i wouldnt normally do, got my 6"2, 19 stone body (former rugby player) out the car to tell him to get back in his van and leave me alone... he promptly weighed up the situation and got back in his van. Ive seen men much bigger and scarier than me go wild in similar situations and i would encourage you to be careful as i think you may regret how aggressive you can appear should you meet someone like this. Also, if you are going to put these videos on youtube, make sure your driving is impeccable, otherwise you get the justice seekers trying to belittle you

but on your original post, i agree

    2) I have some issues with my gear linkage at the moment, which makes selecting first gear VERY difficult, in fact i've accidentally found reverse a few times. (Im planning to fix this myself this weekend)

If it's you in the videos, I wouldn't have thought first gear was needed for breaking the speed limit or accelerating towards visible hazards on 50 mph dual carriageways, so I can see why it's less important for you to get that fixed.

I can understand where Strider590 is coming from in his iriginal post, but really, there was no need for the agressive accelerating and fowl language. Regardless of the 206 being in the wrong...

I'm not so sure it is that much on the wrong

    freeze frame from that

    2q03xio.gif

What is just stunning about the start of this one is the Strider character is overtaking towards an oncoming vehicle overtaking a parked car and even forces it to shelter behind the next parked vehicle.

Why on earth he and the Peugeot almost end up trying to overtake the dark car three abreast somewhere there simply isn't space, God only knows.

Perhaps the dark car saw this overtaking folly about to happen and tried to be out of the way to allow it to pass as soon as possible, maybe slowed down for some other reason, like wondering is this the road on the left I want, or perhaps it does actually turn there, but Strider apparently doesn't even notice or certainly doesn't remark on that or the oncoming silver one.

And then there is aggressive acceleration solely to converge rapidly on the back of the Peugeot and intimidate it, while it is about to slow down for the roundabout.

For more modest road users, these videos ought to be an education in defensive driving. Meeting one person like this would be bad enough, but if 2 or more of them meet each other and start trying to intimidate and bulldoze each other off the road near you, be careful. In that incident, I want to be the silver or greyish car.
