Such markings are usually placed on roads with restricted visibility or other hazards that make overtaking more dangerous than usual - if I were coming the other way or waiting to pull out of a junction I'd be a lot more likely to expect you to overtake a tractor than an old fart in a Focus.

No, because those would have solid lines around the chevrons.

EDIT - I don't see any hatched markings in that picture :p

Hmmm.... I would have thought the reason for this picture was obvious, but evidently i have to explain.

I knew as soon as I made comparison between moped and car that some smart a55 would point out that moped take up much less road space and are easier to overtake. The picture says otherwise (it's from the HWC website).

We must be getting old, and not wanting to die early.

I must admit, when I'm on a road like that, traffice in front of me for as far as I can see, with something at the front slowing it down, then traffic coming in two's and three's round every bend a few hundred feet apart, I can't see the point in hopping past a few cars here and there. They all catch up at the next island or lights anyway.

I'm on the wrong side of 50 but still find there is something quite satisfying in "hedge hopping" especially if you manage to clear the vehicle causing the slow traffic

and even more so on a decent bike

I'd expect you to do that on a bike tbh, but would probably have moved in to the left enough that you didn't need to drive on the hatched markings

Another thing I don't understand which is so very very British..... We don't get upset if bikers overtake, but if a car does it, we start swerving all over the road and throwing insults about.

Over taking on chevrons? You still haven't told us why it was necessary.

Mixing it with 44 tonnes trucks for not reason.

Using the horn without good reason.

Ffing and blinding at other drivers.

    Exceeding the speed limit.

    Need I say more?

Interesting, are you able to see cars behind me or overtaking me? I thought my camera was forward facing.

But yeah, clearly I swerve all over the road when someone overtakes me.... so.... in which video was I being overtaken?
Oh hmmm..... I was overtaken on the inside by a truck, clearly he was exempt from the law, therefore making it my fault :rotfl:

Tell us what did the truck do wrong?

He remained in lane 1 throughout, what is wrong with accelorating up to the speed limit? You were going for a closing cap which ever way you look at it.
