Having looked at some of your videos, here is some constructive criticism of your driving:

It is apparent that you have poor hazard perception, and drive too fast so that when do perceive a hazard ahead you have far less time to react to it and end up having to take emergency action to avoid an accident.

"I was driving along and this idiot did this dangerous thing to me, so I did something twice as dangerous back to teach him a lesson" mentality.

Seems common but what is even worse is people that do something dangerous when you overtake them perfectly safely on a clear road (without entering hatched markings / crossing solid lines / etc)

People do not like being overtaken by a 1.0 Picanto - even if they're doing 40 in a 60. :(

ETA - I can't access that forum at work.

I don't know that forum, I can see they're ganging together, but I wouldn't say they all have weak minds though. I doubt you have by ganging together with them about overtaking. Don't know what the media has to do with it, I guess you read different motoring articles on there to the rest of us.

Not as good as it was in my early 20's, I realise this and put it partly down to age.

Didn't you see the mullet hair in the rear view mirror? In his 50s I reckon. No-one in their 40s or younger would have hair like that.

    Anyhow:
He hasn't got poor hazard perception. He has excellent hazard perception - his actions are obviously deliberate in order to annoy other road users so that he can put them on you tube and rail against them.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

When (not if, but certainly eventually when) you meet someone as stubborn as you on the inside lane as well, there will be an accident as you hit either the other car or road work barriers or cones and perhaps even staff, or oncoming traffic. A few seconds of your life saved and then a whole lot more wasted.

He's already done this. Have a look on YouTube for the "!!!!!! lorry" clip.

Is it necessary for me to overtake?

The necessity to overtake isn't the action in question here.

It is the necessity to utilise the area of hatched road markings to do so , that is the crux of the matter.

And the person who decides on that necessity is solely the driver of the vehicle concerned.

As long as the key proviso in the Highway Code is observed..ie 'and it is safe to do so'... then whether others deem a manoeuvre as 'necessary' or not is irrelevant.

Such a road marking does not convey the meaning 'don't overtake' ...

However, I suggest the driver concerned should be able to demonstrate that necessity..ie the presence of the slower vehicle, etc....or 'the physical limitations of the vehicle being driven....' as examples...

Inaccurate road positioning ...or perhaps, cutting an apex too much, where there is no reason why the driver cannot maintain a position within their own carriageway, may well attract unwanted attention..........
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
