Well, if they end up going in the same direction, the van must have been turning left.

    You mean right.

Usually, if I'm on the main road, and the van would be turning right from the other side, so if he's halfway out, and blocking traffic coming the opposing way, I'll let him out. If I'm the only car, he can follow me. I would love to see the video to see why he got upset, unless he was already turning and you put your foot down.

Then if I bought a set of brand-new posh-name tyres, they ought to last me over 100,000 miles?

Proper positioning when going round corners, good anticipatory slowing, always appropriate speeds, and leaving plenty of space in front mean I don't place any real stress on my tyres....I don't need 'grip' to get about.....neither do I rely on technology..or the actions of others, to drive safely....

it's all so very easy, if only ordinary drivers took the time to find out.

    raspberries all round!

The tyres wear from giving grip ie friction gradually rubbing off the rubber. It was a joke, never mind :p.

Either your reactions are very slow and you don't read the road well or you are a very aggressive driver. I hazard a guess it is the second with a bit of inability to read the road. Unfortunately you are complaining about other aggressive and inconsiderate drivers, when 2 of you get together there will be incidents!

From what you say your car is not road worthy, either. Not a good combination!

Can you really not see that you are one of the drivers others are complaining about?

Go on then, we'll have another one, hopefully one day he'll see what the rest of us are seeing.

the strider overtaking all the queuing traffic, at 0.40 he's past the road narrows sign, passing the arrows on the road, passing the safe huge gap on the left to pull easily into, and as he says, someone actually has to slow to let him in, or else he's left stuck on the chevrons again.
(Strider, if a car in the other lane has to slow to let two cars who have messed up back in, it's not zip merging, it's pity)

I think what's most concerning is that all these clips are ones where the OP thinks he is 100% in the right. I wonder what ended on the editing room floor - probably clips of school children being mowed down and grannies being forced off the road in a ball of flames.

Strider could you post your Registration Number, I'm considering taking your advise and making a formal complaint about the standard of someone's driving. ;)

^^ I refer you to the HWC

You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed.
In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.

I was in the RH lane well before the queue, I did not change lanes early because of the traffic as per the rule, had I been in the LH lane I would not have gone past because it goes against the above rule. Merging in turn seems to be the preferred method and the traffic couldn't have gotten much slower.

Im not going to have some dumba55 argument about highway code versus being "British"..... Yet again, dragging up video's which have sweet FA to do with the topic.

    "do not change lanes unnecessarily"

    For your future reference..

When there is a sign saying your lane is ending, followed by white arrows all over the road, chevrons appearing under your car, grass replacing the tarmac, the crash barrier appearing closer and closer to your offside, it's necessary, so that is one of the times you can change lanes.

    only if safe and appropriate

It's safe to change lanes under the circumstances above when there are several car length gaps on your left, it becomes unsafe to pass them, into solid traffic, and then try to slide between two cars that you now couldn't get a playing card in between, in the vain attempt to gain a few places in the queue.

But you'll never be convinced you can do wrong.
A good driver may do what you do, but will anticipate the lane ending, and pull back in, not drive to the very end and force their way in, carving up anyone in the way.
You don't even realise you've quoted the rule and did the exact opposite to it.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Strider9655#p/u/19/7cuecU3Mqno scares me a little... Flick to 1:13 where Strider overtakes, not only on chevrons, but on the brow of a hill...

And yes, we know that you can overtake on chevrons, but only "when necessary" as per rule 130 of the Highway Code
you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so

So this person drives around with a camera on his dashboard, goes home and posts the videos on youtube? :)
