I do similar at work if I've not had time to make anything as well. Not thought about suggesting it to hubby but will do. I think they've got a fridge they can use. He will go to Tesco anyway to buy something if he's on nights (and sometimes days) so it's not as if it's a special effort. I think he likes to grab a cooked breakfast from the canteen though which whilst subsidised can still add up over the course of a four or five day week.

HOw about one of those icepacks? I am thinkign of gettign one myslef for the summer months... and I just got a thermos fals for soups and hot meals... eating out in London is just crazy.
I want to add my praise- you are doing really well, so keep goign that way!

Where has she said that she's on benefits, her husband goes out to work.
Hubby does have cans at home but it's more the going out with work mates and socialising that he enjoys. He just can't say no.

as above, your OH has overspent by £80

clothes for the kids, trainfares, takeaways, passports and holidays are all additional expenses that you are racking up, that arent necessary either

until you both stop all frivolous spending, then your situation isnt going to improve

    F

    Ain't that the truth !

Can't be arsed to plan ahead and make lunches so blow money on buying lunch outside. Too lazy to cook so buy take aways. Can't budget because it is too hard and now she's too tired to explain why and her head hurts.

    All excuses.

Rubbish, Michelin and property.advert have you read this thread? Or just picked a couple of comments to slate?

Alleycat, I have read this and totally agree with the posters who say you are doing a grand job. However I feel very sad your husband has done this again. You need to have a chat and find out where the money goes, hopefully not along the lines others are suggesting but just on a few rounds etc, not great but not that bad, and then follow the suggestions (cards at home etc) that others have given.

    Good Luck xxx

Have you ever thought of moving out of London? 120 per week for public transport and lunches is a phenomenal amount of money. You say you don't need a car so must live quite close to the centre. Therefore your rent and hubbies 'couple of pints' plus transport must be costing an absolutely arm and a leg.
Also, you sound exhausted. Don't know what you both do for jobs, but is it not something you could consider a bit further up the Country.
In the City, where people seem to live this cosmopolitan lifestyle of socialising after work (you said at one point that he came in early at 10.30 !!!! ) What kind of life is that for you all. You are in bed and then he gets up at 5am, so you rarely see each other.

I think you need a quieter life in a bit more of a rural area, where you can walk your daughter to school and your other half would not need to go out drinking after work all the time. He should be coming straight home from work and bathing the baby and reading them stories at bedtime. When do the kids get to see him?

Outside London, your rent would be halved. The cost of the 'occasional' pint would be halved - in fact everything would be virtually halved.

Maybe he could work in the week and you could do a part time job at weekends, hence negating the nursery requirements.

When my kids were little I got a job working evenings and weekends which worked well cos no nursery costs.

btw, if he does decide to take sandwiches, get him to make his blinking own. You have enough on your plate. Or spend a Sunday afternoon (both of you), making a week's worth and shove them in the Freezer. Take them out on the morning and they will be ready to eat by lunchtime.

Why don't you take up my suggestion in an earlier post to buy him a train season ticket, then give him a cash allowance. Once its gone its gone. No cards allowed. That would work.
