  • I used to have a blog, to track my daydream journey, but I stopped, I think I just run out of interested stuff to say, there were only do many post you could write on dreaming, and being a tight old git lol..

We managed to buy a smallholding 4 years ago.. But haven't moved out in, due to money to get it sorted non existent , but with hubbys business gone to the wall, and I sold all my stock/ business to tied us over, and to get some more basics done to the place, so we can try and move in sometime in the next few months

So I think it's a bit passed saving now..unless I can fast track posts lol

Bmth, is it self hosted? People need to get used to what your website name is, and you won't be able to monetise with a free blog; you have to have the self hosted. Good luck with it! Keep planning blog posts, think about how to liven it up with pictures, thats my advice.

Think about the marketing too, start up one at a time - pinterest, google plus, twitter, facebook, instagram, whatever you fancy.

I've bought a domain name and hosted Wordpress for a year, going to see how I get on and possibly build my own actual site once I'm more proficient with HTML and CSS :)

Currently drafting blog posts (it's a niche that will allow a lot of content) and I'm not going to post anything or go "live" until I have around 6 months content queued
  • I hate seeing our thread anywhere but the first page, always feel I need to drag it back lol.

Hope you all had a good/productive weekend /valentines day. be back later to update.

I watched a podcast yesterday, via John Tighe's website, from a guy named Mark Dawson - over a million downloads, lots of kindle books on sale (thrillers) - it was fascinating.

    Hello all,
nice to read everyone's on going updates, not much to say myself at the moment.
still on the look out for our next adventure, but nothing coming up yet that grabs us, not feeling frustrated though as we have other things to be getting on with- it will happen when it happens.
    Good luck all!
  • Does anyone have any books on blogging that they would recommend?

Would a book be the best way? I'm just thinking that a book about blogging might be akin to those Internet "Directories" you used to see in bookshops. I'd think going through some of the blogging-related threads on here might be the best way, also there was a series linked to on here that might help: http://www.theguardian.com/money/series/how-to-build-a-profitable-blog
  • I'll take a look, thanks.

    Afternoon guys,

Just wanted to update on progress. Photography website is nearly there - I've got it practically sorted just need to sort out the domain ( as it's https://www.X.wordpress.com instead of just https://www.X.com if that makes sense)

It's not amazing - but it's simple and has my gallery, prices and blog which I am going to try and write a blog everytime I do a couple shoot / wedding with the couples permission of course.

All this blog talk is getting me thinking about my 2 ideas - I really need to set aside time to do it.

I read a very interesting article on habit forming where if you do something stupid like "read a page before bed" and then move on to 2 pages..etc you eventually start doing it without even thinking about it and a habit can take on average around 2-6months to form depending on the person but once it's ingrained - it's ingrained so I want to start saying to myself "1 idea a day" for blog 1 but I need to link it to another habit so I remember (say 1 idea a day after I brush my teeth)...the ideas are really easy thing to do as I have so many options it's writing the blog posts that will be the hard part but given I have got a good understanding in wordpress now the site shouldn't be to far behind..

My other blog idea on photography as much as I would love to do this I think another year just being a photographer will open doors for me but I've already signed up the facebook page and website.

Had my first cancellation for a wedding - she asked for the booking fee back and I said no as it's an August wedding and she was really good about it but once she told me her and her partner had spilt up I asked for her bank details and sent it back...I can't explain it but without asking again she seemed like the money would make a big difference to her and it wasn't a lot in scheme of things.

To be honest if there is one wedding I would of chosen to cancel hers was the perfect date (although it was a nice venue and nice couple :( ) so I won't even try to rebook the date ..it will just make my August easier.

I've been sooo busy. I've moved my desk downstairs ..it's made so much of a difference I feel it's helping already and I'm keeping on top of the house work + I did make a few friends from the school run but bar the one I mentioned before it's not exactly gone well!! Went round one of the womans house and realised pretty quickly we just don't click and ended up twiddling thumbs...honestly I like her as a person but I try so hard to make conversation and unless it's directly related to something that concerns her she just doesn't really reply...the kids get on really nicely though so it's a shame ...I've invited other Mum out this weekend (I don't go out drinking a lot but hey ho) so I'm sort of hoping that either the other 2 don't find out or don't take offence to it..

Anyway - on to my eBay as honestly I have spent my morning playing age of empires (cringe I used to play as a kid and re brought it last week lol) and then I'm going to sort the house out till hubbie gets home....

Fingers crossed I stay focused now!
