Good morning fellow millionaires in waiting.....

Hope you are all well, happy and making lots of money.:D

Right had to rejiggle some money around and am still, awaiting some money to come in for last month so I am only going to declare £488 savings for this month. This brings my total this year to £4117, leaving just £883 to go to my target of £5k by 1st April.

The good news is I have received a nice cheque yesterday from HRMC in respect of an overpayment but have not yet banked this so not counted. That will go into this months figures and will ensure that I meet my target with room to spare, despite having a mahoosive credit card bill this month.

Yes a bit of a cheat but a very nice little bonus.

Have soent the last few days helping dad to move. Phew what a marathon. He's such a hoarder - I was packing boxes and boxes of what is essentially rubbish. :rotfl: it has made me more determined than ever to finish my decluttering asap so I can live a simple minimalist lifestyle free from unnecessary clutter and the emotional baggage that goes with having too many possessions.

In the words of William Morris I shall keep only what I know to be useful and believe to be beautiful. I shall only keep items which "bring me joy".

I have to go through dads paperwork and finances again but this should be the last time because now that he has moved in with my sister he won't have to worry about paying household bills etc - it will just be about managing his personal spending so it should all be straightforward enough.

So finally I shall have more time to pay attention to my own affairs at last.;)

So this month I think the plan is one last push on the decluttering, sell donate or recycle and get it cleared once and for all and then crack on with the property search. Have got a viewing booked for Saturday.

I was offered a part time job, was very tempted but decided that my time is too precious, especially as summer is just round the corner.:rotfl:

Hope you are all busy and happy.

Have a great money making March.

Kaya. Hope you are feeling better.

Does anyone else hate the new forum layout? Once I log in it goes away but can't stand it. It looks better but there is to much going on and I find it just to much.

Anyway busy week purchased my dream Apple laptop & the 70-200mm lens I've been hankering after - took a 2k loan out with paypal to cover the laptop as after speaking with a few friends whilst I have some things that are more important to buy (like the 70-200mm) if I can save time by buying the laptop now rather then later it will work in my best interest.

As much as I love it and over the moon with it - it's such a big adjustment as I have been using windows my whole life so shortcuts etc ...I'll get there. It's SO quick though uploaded a wedding to Lightroom in a matter of minutes compared to 1-2 hours on my old laptop.

Also sold a £450 lens which I think is getting returned he "thinks" it's faulty as it's not sharp as another lens...it's fine. I think he has purchased it and decided it's not for him so just need to get it back and I'll re sell it on.

I've changed our finances around - we have £700 excess spare a month (with me taking £250 from the business as wages) but somehow we still have no money left at the end of the month. I've decided £40 a week each is far to much and reduced it to £25 for us both...I can see me and my OH having arguments about this as whilst he is on board I told him he could have his £40/week till payday and somehow he has managed to spend £60 this week already...(bare in mind we take the money out every Friday and he took it out a day early on Thursday... ) but it's stupid to be wasting this sort of money on booze (him not me) and takeaways (ok maybe me a little)

I want to get fitter and healthier which I know I've been saying for a while but if I keep myself to just £25 a week - take the kids out more which costs money and keeps me fitter I won't have the money to spend on takeaways (and he def won't lol)

Hope everyone is ok - health wise I had a few pains last night but overall it's no where near as bad I think keeping a decent diet is helping *whatever* it is.

    Hello Fellow Millionaires in Waiting

Hope everyone is well and happy and making lots of money.

Kaya - hope you are feeling better, watch those stress levels.

I don't allow myself a proper "spending budget" as such. I just have a little splurge every so often. TBH now that I'm working towards simplicity and minimalism I find I not interested in spending at the moment.

I used to be able to spend for England, I could have single handedly spent the UK out of a recession.........:rotfl: now I'm not bothered. Yesterday I put a picture that was a bargain in my trolley and then 5 minutes later put it back on the shelf. Unheard of for me!!!

Instead I took two black bin liners of clothes, a box of nick-knacks, ornaments and books and a box of unwanted Christmas decorations to the chazza. It felt great. I'm just finding this decluttering malarkey so liberating and of course I'm not spending any money:T:T in fact I'm making it.......sold some treasures on eBay for £50.

So this month is looking really good, £1827 tax rebate, eBay £50 and then this morning £75 premium bond wins. So I've smashed that £6k target with ease......can I make it £7k. Well I can give it a try, there are still another 3 weeks to go.

Having said that I've got £700 on this months credit card bill to pay and having a new shower fitted today, so that's a total of around £1k to find so I doubt that £7k is realistic. Still no,harm in trying.

At some point I think I need to invest in some new tech too. My lap top died a couple of years ago and I never replaced it, my iPad is getting tempremental and DS2s desk top is very sluggish these days, but as he's had it for 12 years it doesn't owe us anything.

So at some point we will need to upgrade but we will probably just keep things ticking over for now until they die and we have no choice. Our machines and gadgets serve us well enough at the moment.

I still drool over nice cars but I am being very good and resisting temptation. :rotfl: I'm even showing restraint about holidays.

Time to polish my halo whilst I make a banana cake with the overripe bananas rather than chuck them away and rustle up a cheap and cheerful home made curry for supper.

The freezer is full to bursting. My son works in a garden centre where there is a very posh and expensive deli that sells all manner of organic this and delicious home made that.

Last night he bought home a bag full of goodies they were giving away. I shan't need to shop for the rest of the month. We shall be eating like royalty and all for free. What's not to like.:D

We have to have a spending budget otherwise the bank account would be depleted by hubby. He has no control.

Glad things seem to be going well for you LL, you deserve the wins.

Saw the child doctor today (Sorry can't spell the proper word ...) and they are pushing the Autism route for my eldest, going to get him seen by a speech therapist and visit him at school along with getting us to fill out some lengthy questionnaires - then they will see him again once it's all come together in 3-6 months. If he does have it, it will only be a mild case and nothing will change.

Is it bad that I don't want family to know? It's not out of embarrassment or anything but I don't want people to view him as the Autistic kid. I told my best friend as she came round today but I sort of regret doing that now. It's hard as I could use someone to talk to about it but I'm not ready to really tell people yet...saying that he *could* still not have it but the doctor basically said it without saying it officially and that it takes time to get a offical diagnose of the issue she said it was clear he didn't have natural social skills and he is needing to learn them where as most children it would just come naturally to them (she said it better worded then that)

I was really hoping they would turn round and tell us to stop being silly and they didn't need to see us again, they took us so seriously and are taking all the steps needed and not just dragging it out like I thought I would...it's scary but it's nice that they are taking us seriously.

I mentioned about him not having any road safety and she said when we see her again she'll work on that with him...I guess he'll get the help he needs which is what counts.

  • Not bad at all, Kaya - it's something you need time to process and think through yourself before you start getting bombarded with other people's opinions on it. Very good that he's going to get appropriate help though, sounds like you've struck gold with the team there.

I am popping in to say that if all goes as planned, I should finally get the keys to my croft house tomorrow - just waiting to find out when and where I'm meeting the seller for her to give them to me!

Kaya, it's sounds like maybe you suspected it. but haven't fully accepted it yourself? Maybe overwhelmed? Once you get to grips with it and have a solid diagnosis. then as you said tell who you want.

Some cases are severe, so if he's mild probably easier to manage.

Ll yes you deserve the wins.

Wonder how tink is, is she already on my dream holiday?

Just lurking, not huge amount to update at the moment.

Although my spending budget has gone south. I'm going to give it one more month to see if there is one week where I can actually stick to it.

I haven't posted in a while but I have been reading and keeping up to date with how everyone is getting on.

I have now been in my new job 3 weeks and so far all is going well. There is going to be a lot to learn but I think I am going to enjoy it. I am earning a bit more money and have fewer miles to travel saving on petrol as well as time sat in the car. Plus I have a new car which is more fuel efficient, I haven't managed to sell my old one yet but when I do it means that I will have cleared the money I borrowed off my folks, leaving just the interest to pay.

I found out in the last couple of days that my house is worth around 20k more than I had that according to the letting agent. This means that my NAV is now just above £120k.

So I have be wrestling with the idea of buying another property, and have been going back and forth, almost on a weekly basis. However speaking with my dad he has suggested that as a family we buy 2 flats that use to belong to his late aunt. He is looking into it so we will see what develops from here. So I guess it is watch this space!

My tenants moved out last Friday so I have had a bit to spend on the house before the new tenant moves in on Monday. On that front the letting agent have been really good at finding new tenants, both times they have had someone in within a week of the previous ones moving out.

So that is me up to date, sounds like everyone is ticking along nicely as well.

Kaya - I hope you find out soon about the diagnosis so that you can work out how best to manage it moving forward.

I agree, Kaya, take your time - is there a specialist parental forum, or is that a step too far? Maybe its enough to come on here :grouphug:

Congratulations! I want *lots* of updates! Let us know on here if you start up a thread of your own, okay?

Congratulations to LL and muhren too - things are going well!

I'm trying to get into the swing of writing regularly, didn't do too badly yesterday, wrote a blog post from scratch, and stopped when I'd done enough (thats important, I often try to go on too long) - which meant I had time to work in the garden and go back and look over the draft of the blog post, that was great.

RL keeps happening though, even for me, even though I live so quietly it all takes time!

  • I have keys :D Okay, not *all* the keys, two of the byres are padlocked and those are with the selling solicitor who is posting them to me, but I have the ones to the house, the oil tank and the field gates, which is a good start. The meter's on a key, so nothing to do there (apart from get it changed out at some point), there's enough oil for a few more weeks, so I can get cracking at the weekend!

Probably won't do a separate thread on here, but I do have a blog if anyone wants more detail than the occasional fly-past update: http://househoarder.com/
