I'm in the middle of drafting a third post to be published today for my new blog. I'm also looking into building or paying for a website and eventually moving the blog into a subdomain of that website, so that I can fully expand on my ideas / plan for the website.

But at the moment, it's looking good. I've connected to Google Analytics and had 7 visitors (across 28 sessions) since I set it up a week ago; it's a start! :)

In other news, I didn't get the job I went for. Annoyingly I actually sort of DID get it - but due to budget concerns they dissolved the role so it no longer exists .. Annoying. :(

Sounds good, Bmth - and as for the job, sorry you didn't get it - but at least you know you're absolutely applying at the right level. You could even experiment with aiming a little higher?

  • Sorry about the job not working out.

I received a 'double your money' (up to £30) email from ebay today, and it wasn't a scam! So, motivated to get rid of some stuff I've been meaning to sell but hadn't got round to.

I've also been doing lots of reading - indie author stuff. It seems to be paying off as suddenly (at 1.45 in the morning!) I was able to sketch out the basic plot for a novel I have had in the back of my mind for years, but never progressed with. Lots of other ideas too - just need to focus though and run with this one!

Oh, and I finally managed to get a Clydesdale account to switch to for £150. Every little helps :)

    Hello everyone.

Just having a little break from clearing out my kitchen cupboards.....I have enough food for the siege of Leningrad........:rotfl: so next month I will work my way through the food mountain and save some money.:D

Well I think I'm about on track to save my target of £1k this month. However, I have had a very spendy month, melting the plastic, so next month I will have to settle the credit card bill so might not be able to save much.

I think I will still just about hit my target of £5k by 1st April..

The good news is most of my spending went on my summer wardrobe, including all the wedding clothes I will need for both Barcelona and the U.K. Ceremonies. I hadn't anticipated buying those until April but I managed to find everything I wanted in the sales so it made sense to snaffle them up now. I guess I'm actually ahead of myself.

The flights and accommodation for Barcelona are already booked and paid for so I am hoping I'm done spending for a while. We do need a new shower though but that shouldn't be too bad.

Re the flat.........I have decided to back out. I looked at the lease and wasn't happy so It's back to the drawing board ......luckily my solicitor didn't charge me any abortive costs so nothing lost.

Other than that nothing much happening this end. Just quietly plodding along. We will be moving dad to my sisters house within the next couple of weeks. That will be fun and games.........he is such a hoarder and refuses to declutter before he moves.......says he will do it afterwards. So yes we have to move a lot of junk and carp.......I will be glad when it's all over and then hopefully I can get on with my own life.;)

Bmth - sorry to hear about your job disappearing, but at least it shows you are doing all the right things. Hopefully the right thing will come along soon.

I'm currently reading a biography about Steve Jobs (cofounder of Apple). Not an easy man apparently, and not always likeable. I guess you might say he was something of a flawed genius, but he certainly knew how to build "Insanely good products" .......his words.:rotfl:

All this blog talk is very interesting - maybe I should have a go. It might be fun.

I don't think I could write a novel though, so Prudence I take my hat off to you.

I am supposed to be writing my memoirs. I made a start whilst on the cruise and have got as far as 1980 but I haven't touched it for a couple of months.

Maybe I need another nice long cruise to get get it finished......

Well it's as good an excuse as any for a holiday.;)

    I could go for a cruise :)

There was an article on the BBC website about high achievers http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-34952681 the title is naff, but the interviews are interesting. Focus! Use the time! I'll never forget seeing my BiL when they'd just bought a holiday home, and there was 10 minutes till lunch - he didn't tidy, or wash his hands and lay the table, he got a screwdriver out and started putting a flatpack chest of drawers together. Use the time you've got! I like that.

One way I'm sabotaging myself is checking on email or the weather or whatever too frequently, rather than getting stuck in or even just resting and recharging my batteries, that would be better. So that's what I'm going to do.

  • Thanks for the link Karmacat.

I think your problem, like mine, is that we have both had some health issues and therefore we have been unable to operate or function as we used to. This takes a bit of getting used to. I'm not used to life in the slow lane and I do find it a bit frustrating that I can't work flat out like I used to.

I know that one of my issues has been lack of energy due to my adrenal system being compromised. What might be best described as "burn out". I think it can easily take a couple of years to get the adrenal glands fully working again. My neck glands are swollen again today, a sure sign I need to back peddle for a couple of days.

I have known a number of people who have suffered from burn out - the good news is they all made good recoveries eventually. I know I'm gradually getting better and stronger.

Just not quickly enough for my liking. :rotfl:

Of course I will never be 20 again and I will never have that kind of energy again - I used to burn the candle at both ends and in the middle. Alas those days are over.

Hopefully what I've lost in energy I make up for in wisdom and life skills.... Well that's the theory.:rotfl:

One thing I am finding - and I know this sounds bonkers - but I believe it to be true - is that as I continue my journey to simplicity and minimalism I do feel better both physically and mentally.

Getting rid of the physical clutter also seems to be helping me get rid of the mental clutter and is helping me to focus on what I really want to achieve. With each car load that leaves the house I feel that a weight is being lifted off my shoulders. I can find things, keeping the house neat and tidy is much easier, I am more organised and I seem to have more time.

Hopefully I'm just about finished, just one final push. I want it all done in time for summer so I can make the most of all that lovely sunshine.

My advice.....just pace yourself, rest when you need to and focus on one thing at a time. Forget multi tasking for a while - it's just too exhausting.;)
  • I've heard so many good reviews about the book of Napoleon Hill and can't wait to have one. I would love to be inspired by the learnings I will learn from the book of Napoleon Hill. I want to be millionaire and get that great mindset when it comes to money and my career.

I think I have that book - it's good but nothing like 4 hour work week or black hole focus (still haven't finished that lol)

    Glad is all going well!

Just to add got a BARGAIN yesterday been following a fellow tog who sells editing courses for about £80 well apparently he is bringing a new course out in a few days so he was having a sale of it down to about £20....then it got reduced to £2...couldn't say no. I think I would of paid full price eventually but I have brought courses I found more important on posing and lighting before buying the editing one (which I am pretty handy with editing anyway)

7 hour video (And other stuff) on editing :D can't wait to crack on but busy busy ATM ..
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • Actually if you google Napoleon Hill quotes you can probably get the gist of the book and then decide whether or not you want to read the whole thing.

Both MSE and time efficient. :rotfl:

I'm feeling energised today:D - my rest yesterday obviously paid off.

Going to finish the kitchen declutter and then have a quick tidy up the cellar.

Got a busy week planned so want to clear the decks today.

Have a good week. Hope you all make lots of money.

You're right! An ex-mse-er has put me into a facebook group, specific recommendations for vitamins D3 and Ksomething :o if it goes well, I'll let you know. But yes, there's a bit of an age slowing down thing. It didn't hit me till I was about 55 - I really was a bit Dorian Grey till then, people remarked on it, but its caught up with me in a big way, and I'm still nowhere near adjusted to it.

Thats what I'm expecting :j and why I won't even think of doing the cat sitting till next year. Good to hear you've seen that happen, though.

I absolutely agree with that, I haven't really been a materialistic person, particularly, but its still happened ... weird. I'm glad to see the back of an awful lot of it!

Thanks! I'm definitely still taking regular rests, I simply can't do anything else, but I'm still going to make the cuts in things that don't feed me like checking email too often and computer games too, actually :o which play havoc with my fingers for no good reason whatsoever :o

    Working in an hour. Laterz!
