Not a lot to report really other than this is my last week in my current job before I have a week off before starting my new role. My company car should be landing in the country today so should receive it next week and some point. Which will mean I can look to sell mine and put that money towards my remaining debt.

I want to see if anyone had any motivational techniques? I do struggle with motivation and I really want to go into this new role motivated as I want to really hit the ground running.

I love reading this thread :)

I recently finished listening to an audio book about habits. The author discussed many issues, and one that reasonated with me is the difference between a lark and a night owl. For the past week or so I have been embracing my early-morning wakening rather than be frustrated with being awake at 5am :)

Meanwhile, if anyone is considering having a blog, I have put a 25% discount code/link for Hostgator on the referrers board

I've just been discussing starting a blog / vlog / YouTube channel with my daughter. :) She is 17 and knows far more about this stuff than I do! Will have a look at your link.

Managed to dodge the rain and dropped some more stuff off to my eBay lady, including some of the things that the Chazzer refused......she reckons they will sell easily.

Just goes to show - theres always a market for quality stuff. ;)

Need to do a financial shuffle round later. Gotta squeeze every last penny interest where I can......

Chucking down now, so that's me for the day, cosy down, cook a nice dinner, potter about.

I'm reading a biography of Steve Jobs at the moment.

Muhren - How to stay motivated......heres a few things I find useful.

I ve never really had a problem with motivation as such, I've always been a self starter but of course I get tired and fed up sometimes. Everyone does, it's normal.

When it happens I take a step back. I take the opportunity to review what I'm doing, ask myself how I can improve, what do I need to do differently etc.

When I worked in sales complexes on new build developments I always decorated my office like it was my home office. Flowers, plants, a nice paperweight and always a couple of photos of my kids.

So......whenever I had to do some cold calling or chasing up leads and was feeling less than enthusiastic I would just look at the photos and say "boys this ones for you".

So make sure your office or workspace is a nice place to,be. Clean tidy desk, everything organised. As a male you might not want flowers but a nice paperweight or plant would look good. Peace lilies and spider plants placed near to a computer monitor Will improve air quality and help you stay alert. Please no fluffy toys, jokey signs or stickers. You are a grown up, not a student.....

I would always ensure that I "walked the site" every day, partly to check build progress but also to touch base with contractors and subbies, have a chat to the labourers who were always my eyes and ears. Just getting away from my desk and out into the fresh air was usually enough to refresh me and lift my spirits and of course it helped me keep my finger on the pulse and kept me inspired.

Can you do something similar - I cannot overestimate the importance of "staying in the loop", finding out what's going on around you, networking, making good contacts. It keeps up the enthusiasm and energy levels.

If you can always try and have a few minutes break here and there, even if it's just a "water cooler moment". And don't eat your lunch "al Desko".

Perhpaps you could use visualisation techniques......imagining yourself a few years down the line, doing the things that your hard work has paid for.....a holiday, a nice car, whatever. My DS2 keeps a picture of his dream boat as his computer wall paper. So perhaps a picture of something you really want.

I appreciate its often easier to get and stay motivated when you are self employed but some employers can be very supportive and actively encourage and motivate staff to do well, others less so. Let's hope your new employers are the good guys.

If you google motivational sayings or inspirational quotes there are loads, plus some great Inspirational movie clips. Don't forget music.

Start the day with some "banging tunes" to get the adrenaline pumping ......move around, do some exercise to get those endorphins flowing, sing in the shower.

And don't forget to reward yourself now and again. Treats needn't be expensive, they can be free. Allow yourself time out to have some fun. Try and aim for a good work life balance.

All work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy. Working hard all the time can lead to burn out.

Celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes, but always remember to be joyful.

Monitor your progress to how far you've come, reassess every so often, maybe a few tweaks here and there to keep you on track.

Always keep your eye on the prize. And finally......

Never, never, never give up. If you falter, stumble and fall just pick yourself up and try again ........however many times it takes.

That *is* a great post, thanks LL. There was much more there than I'd have been able to write :o

Well, adsense have turned down my cats blog, "not enough content" - rubbish, says I !!! Maybe not enough products? I'm actually quite proud of the content I write for that site, but I think the ad code might be wrong for where it ended up, so I'm going to rejig, look for a bit of help on what they might really mean, and resubmit. Doing a "product" post in the meantime, I saw a stall selling beautiful leather handbags designed as a cat's face, and took a photo of it with the stallholder beaming at me, so that might help too.

    Hi All,

LL,glad you managed to save your unwanted items from going to recycling AND potentially make some money!

I probably mentioned I started out in hospitality so have always wanted a B&B.

Got my first booking, 4nights £93 after commission...I am on the local Ironman Route so those dates got snapped up straight away.

Im a bit gutted I cant make use of my garage as it has been 90% converted to a bungalow to the rear of the property (just needs heating) and has potential to earn money in the summer months because of the location. Problem is im unsure how to find out if it has planning and wouldn't want my neighbours getting upset. Ive tried searching planning applications that have been granted but haven't fund anything

    Fab post LL.

I find that Youtube is my friend when it comes to motivation. Sometimes I search for Tony Robbins videos there. Or TED talks, although they are becoming less inspiring to me than I have found them to be previously.

BTW In one of his talks Tony Robbins said something along the lines of getting motivation through movement, which can be be as basic as quickly shaking both hands in the air by your side, if that makes sense.

It really does work finally finished decorating our front room and sorting the house out - clean from head to toe (apart from my Son's bedroom and the spare room) and I feel so much better and none of this "I'll do it after I've sorted the house out"

I was hoping to spend Wed whilst the kids wern't here doing some work on my "ideas" but that went out the window as I realised that OH is off for half of today and tomorrow ...there is always next week I guess. I'm also going out with my business Mummy friend today with our youngest sons whilst eldest are at school.

My only thing for motivation I always do struggle - but one I find de motivating is eating the wrong food so you end up feeling sluggish. Stick to the good stuff if your feeling a bit down in the dumps as a "I need a takeaway night" turns into feeling crappy the next morning.

Up and onwards...feel like we are finally getting somewhere.
