I've enjoyed reading through this thread (not all of it!) and would like to join you all. (Yes, I've recently read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and am part way through Think Yourself Rich, lol).

I'm a lot older than many of you, (46), so starting this very late. But better late than never. :)

I have a few ideas buzzing round in my head, but nothing concrete ATM, and none that will get me there on its own.

I only have around £8K in liquid assets, a very small portfolio of index trackers and a small pension pot I no longer contribute to. So, I have a long way to go and not a huge time frame!

Hopefully, committing my intentions to writing, here as well as elsewhere, will keep me motivated.

Welcome! I mainly lurk these days although I contribute more to the "make £10 a day" thread. I'll be 46 this year :j

Thanks for the heads up about the 4 hour work week - there are some great ideas in it. I've been listening to the free audio via youtube.

    Happy moneymaking everyone :)

A bit of a mix, a nice cross section.

I think I might be the eldest though. :D

Horrible day here. Builder coming later to discuss a few bits and bobs that need finishing off. Think I'll do a bit more sorting and decluttering.

    Have fun.....

No there are two tiers of membership. Trade and personal.

The only significant difference really is personal membership means fewer shopping hours. Trade members can shop before noon.

Given that they don't open till 10.00 that's no real hardship, except you don't get a free cup of coffee.:rotfl:

When My husband died I just switched from trade to personal. No biggie.

Good luck with the job interviews.

Ahhh I understand, that's good then, maybe I'll look into a personal licence!

Thanks for the well wishes, I have made it through to the final stage, so fingers crossed that I am made an offer .. :)

There is a 'dream house' I have saved on rightmove...575k price tag but ts an old school house with land 5 bedrooms, 5 receptions which I would love to have as a B&B...we only need 3 beds and a family room as we are always in the kitchen so the scope is good. just need to find the $$$ haha dream big!

Sounds lovely. A B&B (if successful, obviously!) would provide good future-proof, continuous income, too.

I complained about a product that had been delivered this week, where I'd paid for prompt delivery (£7) but Royal Mail had annihilated the package. They provided a full refund, which I was quite over the moon about!

This weekend will be a bit more expensive than usual, as it is my wife's birthday today, but we've recently reigned in our spending and I love it!

Off to see a client soon - just finished a "Booking information" sheet to go along with my contract :)

Don't know if I mentioned but back to my problem with the 4 weekends in a row - this person I am meeting today is for £250 but I had a solid enquiry for the same date for £400...so whilst I am doing by best to book my £250 client (As I had already booked in a meeting with her) I am potentially losing £150...but that word potentially as the other booking might not of happened and I can't go back on my word and cancel one meeting for another ...not a great way to do business but at least someone wanted to book me for £400? It's a start.

I said to someone else if I could book 12 weddings at £400 I would be happy for 2017.

    Up and over.

  • Kayalana, is this the £250 who is messing you about with the deposit? I'd tell her she has a week to come up with it or the £400 booking gets the date!

I have missed out on a great opportunity due to the delays with the crofts purchase - a very senior employee at Mr Minx's work is looking for a house to rent for the duration of his contract and the HR department rang Mr Minx to ask us if the house would be available for him to rent. He had to tell them we hadn't even managed to finish buying it yet, let alone make it habitable! REALLY annoying.

Kaya. I agree with Caz. She pays you the deposit within 7 days - no more messing.

    You have been very accommodating.

Caz. What a shame, so annoying for you.

My solicitor has warned me not to hold my breath with the flat. She told me buying a leasehold property takes longer than freehold so I'll just gave to be patient........patience isn't my strong point.:rotfl:

No it's the 3rd weekend out of the 4 that is messing me around (but 2 enquires for the 4th weekend)

4th weekend now booked so sent the £400 enquiry to my friend - I won't book the 3rd weekend now to anyone but the one who was messing me around purely because I don't want to do 4 in a row but I will if I have to.

Looking forward to this year got a wedding enquiry for end of Feb for just 3 hours so slipping her in..keep saying I won't take any more but sometimes the dates do actually work out OK.

Planned two weeks off my eBay in August/Sept time to help with editing to can always take more off if needed.

Also considering buying my apple laptop on finance...the thing is I have enough in my business account now to buy any extras I need but I don't want to spend it all on the laptop but I figured it would cost about £50-100? over two years...considering it really am as how much time I would save if my computer wasn't so bloody slow....it's a lot but would be a god sent to.

    Good Miorning People.

Well yesterday was good, spent much of Saturday Decluttering.

Yesterday took it all to the chazzers only to be told they can't accept some of it - "elf and safety". Said they would put it in the rcycling for me. I said you will not it's far too good for that.......this was after they had accepted two bags of nice books and two boxes of As new saucepans and various bits of kitchenalia........damn cheek!

i won't be taking stuff there again.....I know it wasn't the volunteers fault - In fact he was most apologetic and very embarrassed. No it was just edicts from head office.

And then they wonder why donations have dropped off.......

The other stuff I will drop off at the YMCA. They are far more appreciatice.

    Anyway rant over........

Last weeks money making........ebay £35, £25 premium bond, and £43 interest, so £103.- not great but I guess not too bad considering it's all passive income. Plus of course my savings on bulk buying last week - I did work it out but can't remember exactly now, around 25per cent, coming in at about £30 - so,again I think worth doing.

Not sure what this week will bring, need to go food shopping today and then visit dad to sort him out tomorrow.

    Dreadful weather here.
