Help!!!LONDON MINT COMPANY SCAM
consuma
I bought a coin on special offer at £30 from them in February. They then sent me another coin on approval. I returned it in the same packaging, asking them to send no more coins. I obtained a proof of posting from the post office. I yesterday got a solicitors letter for nearly £100, claiming I had not contacted them and owe them interest and late fees. Help!

Have you told them you have proof of postage and returned the coin?0

can't post the link0

yes I have done that within the requisite timeblue_monkey wrote: »Have you told them you have proof of postage and returned the coin?0 -
Although usually proof of posting is enough for something valued at less than 100 times 1stclass stamp. I think I'd have sent this back Special Delivery as Royal Mail doesn't pay compensation for missing money unless sent by SD. I suppose it depends whether the coin is classed as "money" or not (e.g legal tender, etc). For the sake of around £5 (minimum used to be £4.XX but haven't used since prices went up), you've left yourself with no proof of delivery and likely no claim against Royal Mail to offset against what the London Mint are trying to get off you.0

I forgot about that. Did you tell the solicitors you have the Proof of Delivery?
Send them a letter by recorded delivery, enclose a COPY of the proof of delivery and see how far that get's you and go from there.
Always, always, always use Special or Recorded Delivery for anything important.0 -

I would say always use special, forget about recorded. All recorded delivery does is provide proof of receipt (in theory), it doesn't provide any additional protection or insurance compared to standard first class, nor is it handled in a separate mail stream (SD is)0 -
Don't think OP has proof of delivery - it was proof of posting which was mentioned.blue_monkey wrote: »I forgot about that. Did you tell the solicitors you have the Proof of Delivery?

London Mint company is really a big scam. They got my debit card details and it looks as if they have been using them to help themselves from my account, to pay off what they say I owe them0

to pay off what they say I owe them
But if they didn't receive the coin back, (and you have no proof that they did), then you do owe them the money.
It's not your fault that it wasn't delivered, but neither is it the fault of the London Mint.0 -
I am surprised at your answer. The London Mint office obtained my card details under false pretenses. Their form clearly stated that my details would be used for ONE transaction only, that of the coin I originally purchased. I did not at any time agree to purchase another coin. It was their decision to send the coin0
