Your lucky not to get done for [STRIKE]permiting no insurance[/STRIKE] using without insurance. Ignerance is no defense. You should of checked his policy before you let him drive your motor. The cop's have been gentle on you cos your a lady.

    Corrected that for you.

As the op was in her car at the time she is classed as using it.

No public transport available at all and taxi would be totally out of his reach financially. I only mentioned the children as I wondered if the fact that he had to do this might give him a slim chance of keeping hold of his licence, especially as 5 points are due to come off in August.

Even if they were off now 11 minus 5 is 6 plus the 6 for no insurance = 6 month totter ban. Buy him a bike.;)

    Quoting post for reference.

Seems it isn't the first time this has been an issue ...

(The OP has deleted her posts, but the story is pretty obvious.)

Yes thats right - I posted for advice last time he got a court summons for speeding and we thought he was going to lose his licence. ive deleted lots of my old posts as there was too much identifying information in there for anyone sad enough and with enough time on their hands to go over old posts and piece info together.

He managed to keep his licence last time.

No it's 6 months. Get a solicitor. Forum people will tell you he deserves it. Sounds like a genuine mistake to me and it's quite easy to rack up 7 points over 3 years that may just be a speeding ticket or two. Tell me no-one on this forum ever speeds. Well no-one here never seems to be caught anyway.

Yes, but the points system gives drivers a 2nd, 3rd even 4th chance to mend their ways. Someone who gets to 12 points has clearly been given several chances yet continues to drive the way they did before.

Yeah thats what I thought so the fact he had 11 at time of the offence isn't looking promising! Don't think id even trust him on a bike to be honest after this!

Are you serious? I could have been done as well?

Yes my hubby got 6 points for letting someone drive his car along with a hefty fine over 20 years ago. Igorance to them having no insurance is not something they let you off for. Made him so he never lent his car to anyone since.

I wanted to know if the fact that 5 of his points come off in August would give him slim chance of keeping his licence and the fact that without his car he cannot see his kids and wondered if this would be taken into consideration. Not looking for loopholes as im pretty sure he is going to lose his licence just want it to be for the least possible time if possible so that he can see his kids and continue to work (he is self employed and car is essential to what he does). Believe me not looking for sympathy as at the moment im bloody fuming at him.

That it does and if he hadn't got speeding tickets in the past or failed to produce his documents in time I might have some sympathy with him over latest offence as he really was totally unaware he was not insured to drive third party in my car. Speeding however can never be condoned.
