That it does and if he hadn't got speeding tickets in the past or failed to produce his documents in time I might have some sympathy with him over latest offence as he really was totally unaware he was not insured to drive third party in my car. Speeding however can never be condoned.

He has speeding fines AND fails to produce..

And suddenly, when he may (hopefully) lose his license because he can't stop pressing the go pedal he is concerned about his kids and is looking for excuses to keep his license and probably will still speed..

I suppose he never observed the speed limits while his kids were in the car.

Sounds to me like the sooner he's off the road the better for everyone else.

(And yes I have had a few points over my 35 years of driving and deserved everyone of them - but clean for the last 20 as I realised how stupid/selfish/dangerous it was ie I grew up))

i hope he gets banned and gets a large fine. He obviously is a naff driver having all those points on his license already. Any person with half of a brain in that situation would make sure theyre always within the law. If he is stupid enough to hand over hundreds of pounds for a insurance policy without knowing what he is covered for then he only has himself to blame.
I am just glad he didnt hit a young child or was involved in an accident otherwise your boyfriends stupid behaviour would of had conseqences for other people.
When he is banned and gets his license back.....eventually i hope he is priced out of buying insurance as our country doesnt need people like him on our roads

No it's 6 months. Get a solicitor. Forum people will tell you he deserves it. Sounds like a genuine mistake to me and it's quite easy to rack up 7 points over 3 years that may just be a speeding ticket or two. Tell me no-one on this forum ever speeds. Well no-one here never seems to be caught anyway.

I don't want to have a go at you, or at the OP about her bf's driving, but I do have to take issue with the statement in red above.

I'm far from a perfect driver and I've never had a speeding ticket in 22 years of driving. At the very least the idea that its 'easy' to rack up that amount of points suggests poor driving observational skills to blast through speed cameras or past the police without apparently noticing or learning from previous mistakes.

Sorry but that's not "easy", that's "careless". We all make mistakes and only a fool would have a problem with that. The problem is people who don't learn from their mistakes.

It's "easy" if you are "careless".

  • He still hasn't received anything since taking his documents into the police station. Does anyone know how long it should take for something to come through?

Silence is not necessarily golden. Given the circumstances it's likely that the next contact will be a summons and that could still be several months away although a standard time would be more like 4-8 weeks from the time of the interview.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
