    Evening taxi! :)

Congrats on losing half a stone already! :T

Just wanted to mention that my Mum suffered with sciatica for a long time too and she was in a vicious circle...overweight which probably brought on the sciatica...then couldn't exercise *because* of the sciatica, so she went on for almost 2 years not getting anywhere. The NHS, I am sorry to say, were C R A P in her part of the country and the stories I could tell you about her 'treatment' would make your toes curl.

Anyway, in the end, after much prompting from me, she forked out for some private treatment and had an acupuncture session at a private physio. It set her back £40 or so which wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. She walked out after just one session a new woman. She went back from one more session after that - then didn't need any more.

She still gets the odd twinge but the difference it has made to her life is unbelievable - she now goes to the gym, swims and can walk a lot further. She was in a right old state before that - couldn't walk without having something to hold on to.

Now her weight is coming off (she also uses the Slimming World plan).

She said that swimming was brilliant when she had sciatica though - when she *could* get there as (as Minnie said) it takes the weight off your joints and for that small amount of time she was in the pool, she felt fantastic not being in pain.

I guess all I am saying in a round about way is - don't let the sciatica drag on. Hopefully it won't - maybe my Mum was just unlucky in that it hung around for so long - but if you feel you aren't getting anywhere, I would recommend some private physio treatment to get you back on the road.

It's a shame when we have the NHS and pay NI, that we have to go private, but your health is so important and frankly life's too short to wait - sometimes feeling like it's indefinitely.

    Anyway - take care hon!

    L A xx

Thanks LA...I've had this problem on and off for years...it just felt different this time...and now I've got my life back having had the op...I want to sort everything else out so I can have a life...I do have a private physio £30 per time and hes great ...I'm caught between the devil and the deep blue sea....I don't think I can afford the diet and the physio at the moment...so am cracking on with the weight loss and going to do a bit of swimming...if it hasn't improved in a few weeks or gets worse I'll go to the physio...as I want it right for work...I always end up paying private as the NHS take forever!!!
thanks for that anyway....glad your mum is better as well as it's very painful at times

Evening all....well my books still aren't done nor my house cleaned...I really do have to come up with schemes to tackle these. From monday I will start doing the books ....I will do them completely up to date...then update them every day then this time next year will not have these problems again as i do every year.....This may take me up to the weekend...then I will start some system of doing the housework....I want to do from top to bottom but this will take a week or two as I'm still not too strong...it really depresses me to see the state of the place.

Good attitude taxi - to do a bit every day so it's not the same old situation again in a year....that's how I was with money till I found this site! Always thinking I'd be OK next year...but was always the same - or worse!

Glad to see you do go to physio and yes, can't blame you for wanting all the niggly things sorted now that the main big op is out of the way.

Please don't let the house get you down....you still can't go mad pushing yourself. Give it just a bit more time and you can blitz it.

And that sounds like me too! It is so comforting to know that other people have the same problems!
