Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 9th May.This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Can't sleep, oh the joy of hot flushes & a neighbour who seems to resent the fact that he has to get up earlier than everyone else. Anyway I haven't wasted my time I have printed off my Order of Service for the handfasting. We are still negotiating with social services about our wedding photo's, they want either a 'No Cameras' rule or for all the foster childrens face to be blurred, I think this will make my wedding look like an episode of Road Wars. The photo's are going on a website that will be passworded & the foster childrens mother will be given paper copies of photo's with her children in.
No idea what the weather will be like today, it's still too dark to see anything.
Packups are made, I shall make a cuppa for hubby soon & take it up to him.
LO roast chicken & HG new pots for tea.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning Hester and all to follow
Hope you don't flag today Hester after the early start!
Monday again
I really need to get my bum into gear this week. Have been procrastinating a lot recently & it needs to stop. Have got a work party here at the weekend and a lot needs to be done before so I have no choice but to be super organised.
Today will be setting my timer for half hour's in my office and it that time really putting my head done.
This afternoon will be cleaning the spare room as we have a guest staying in there. I also still have a mountain of ironing to do
OH is at work and both kids at school so no excuses. Am also aiming to make carrot cake cupcakes but I need to make room in the freezer so I can freeze them for the party.
Nice and easy spag bol for dinner. OS wise - lots of white vinegar, stardrops and elbow grease will be used today
Have a good one.x0 -
Good morning Hester, EssexGirl and everyone,
My what an early start you've made HH up even before the larks. You sound like you've done loads of work already this morning. Social services sound like they are trying to be spanners in the works again. I would have thought it would be best for the foster children to be welcomed into the heart of a warm, loving extended family and to be treated like full members while they are with you. I think it is lovely to include the little girl in such a special role. All power to your elbow, sounds like you are taking every care.
Good idea about the timer EG thanks. I think I shall copy that idea. I also have lots to get done this week.
Bright and sunny here so WM shall go on and I shall strip beds and get bedding on the line. No more overnight rain, but the garden certainly relished the two nights persisting and the water butts are full.
Dinner tonight will be freezer forage for the two of us. Not quite sure yet.
Will sort out marinading sticky chicken wings for tomorrow. DD1 will sort out ribs.
I am going to fill the recycling bins with as much old file contents as they can take. What can I do with old ring and lever arch files though? Do they recycle?
Anyhow, happy Monday folks.
Hugs to those who need or want, cheers Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Have a great day everyone what ever you are doing and <<hugs>> to those who are feeling a bit down in the dumps and Monday morningish
Cheers JackieO xx
P.S. I hope all those with grumpy OHs are at peace once more with them.I would love to be able to have an arguement with my late OH but he would never argue, just sit and laugh which made me even more cross, bless him he was right, life is far too short to argue over daft things0 -
Good morning everyone
Jackieo what a lovely day you have planned! I can't way till i'm up to date with everything again:rotfl:
Uolypool in case you check in - Good luck to your DD on her first day I wish her all the happiness she deserves.
Loads to do today for me, school run obviously, having carpets fitted at new house first thing this morning so need to be down there - also need to post 3 e-bay parcels first thing.
Am going to concentrate on cleaning the upstairs of the new house today and re-commence the decorating tomorrow. OH was down there all day yesterday and reckons it needs a good scrub throughout.
Also need to make sure I do the paperwork for my maternity allowance this evening and i'm going to list some more bits on e bay to generate some more cash
Obviously also need to make sure this place is tidy cos there's a viewing by the landlord this afternoon. Not enough hours in the day again!
Have a Great Day All

Morning everyone
Sunny, bright and warm here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Been away at the weekend, gorgeous day Saturday although DH had meeting for most of it, was able to sit outside in the sunshine, glass in hand. It rained quite heavily on Saturday night, but nowhere near enough rain to do that much good, it's settled the dust but not much else - so plants still need watering.
Most of the washing from the weekend done and on the line. DH and DS1 & 2 cut the grass when we got back yesterday - looks so much better.
Dinner tonight is smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche but the menfolk all have haircuts so I can get that organised whilst they are having haircuts.
DS2 has SATS this week, he's already very stressed, so am trying to be very low key and laid back about it all, Good luck to all those taking exams.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning folks!
Been MIA for a while but trying to read most days. Today I am off again down south for work until Thursday. New job is going really well and the time away from home is well worth it (so far!).
Weddings, handfastings, babies, domestic troubles, new jobs, old jobs, resignations, cake making, ebaying and getting rubbish off one's chest - I've read them all and send sympathy, congratulations and jealousy all round.
Can I deny that I have a super-injunction and have never even met the dishy well known celebrity that my name has been linked with - though I do live in hope and expectation with a tinge of lust!
Gosh, it didn't half rain yesterday! Stair rods for about 10 minutes and then just off and on drizzle, just weird. We were out all day and got caught in two really heavy outbursts. Last night was so warm though!
Breakfasted and showered. Now need to finish off packing, load DW and then have a Skpye call before heading off.
'Til I'm back again...happy Monday.

Uolypool - good luck to DD.
Miech - take it easy - with lots of breaks.
Thank goodness its Monday - can take the boys to school and then relax!!!! Really I'll spend the time cleaning and washing and tidying up after the weekend. Boys currently outside on the trampoline - hopefully bouncing the energy out of them!! Ate far too much yesterday so back on liquids today - will help me stay focussed. I can then put the money I save into a charity pot. Avon coming tonight - so must get some cash for the lady - have bought some christmas presents which were on offer.
Need to pop into shop to get some Marmite - world has stopped according to youngest son as I have none left!!!! Have good day xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0
