Rather than directing anger at each other, why not direct your anger at companies that deserve it? (There are many many candidates for this).
Can I just remind everyone what it says at the top of the forums...........
Please be nice to all MoneySavers. There’s no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

LOL, for what it's worth, I think it's good to have a place here where one can get on a soap box and declare the War Of The Words on any institution, corporation or whatever.
All of us get incensed when we feel hard done by, and we rant on and one vowing never to shop at a certain place, then the next day we see things in a cooler light.
As for being "told" to boycott this and that, of course nobody is forcing anyone into it. It's just a "ranting" suggestion. Take it or leave it...Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
russimp wrote:I'm sorry, vic, but this is just the kind of bullsh!t that these firms rely on. Woolies, as with all stores, is their to make money out of us consumers, not to make 'perfect dreams'.
To the detriment of their staff. Some branches treat their staff disgustingly. I worked for woolies and the later years were appalling. I was three months pregnant and they expected me to pull and push the huge roll cages filled up with drinks cans, and lift them off, and get up ladders putting out stock, and when i was about 6 months pregnant, a customer came to the till when i was behind it, and so was the deputy manager and another member of staff, customer asked where a certain item was, and woolworths policy is to take the customer to the item, so who was expected to walk 100 yards to the back of the store to take the customer and back 100 yards to the till, thats right you guessed right, me! The customer had a right go at the deputy manager and asked why he didnt take her there instead. And I was refused a chair to sit on (when heavily pregnant) behind the till because of health and safety, despite giving a doctors note, to which i replied what about my health and safety and then had to wait a further two weeks for a chair, saying they had to order one, when in fact the chair was a manky old one that had been in an old stockroom for years.
The manager put a sign up on the staff fridge saying " keep your f***ing hands off my stuff in here"
Then the rule that you had to be on the sales floor ten minutes before the store opened (unpaid) and if you went over your hours say by ten or more minutes, the clocking in clock was manually adjusted by the office staff on the computer to say you clocked out on time.
So glad i don't work there, but my best friend does and shes being victimised by her boss and he keeps giving sarcastic remarks like " well woolies employ their staff to help care in the community".
Seems alot of the managers spend their time in the office having coffee instead of down on the sales floor. And yes the lady in the avatar is me

This is dumb from Woolies, but not really worth a boycott, even from the OP, I don't think.
And I wouldn't worry about not having the £180 for release day - !!!!!! all chance of getting one anywhere I reckon.0 -

At last, PASSION.
Thanks to all involved in our little discourse - I feel much better now!
AFAIK this is what the Vent board is about, getting stuff off one's chest.
Of course I want you all to boycott Woolies - but then I want to eradicate child poverty in the UK and also figure out a way to get onto the property ladder - and I can't see those happening in a hurry either.
For those who have been game enough to get involved -
For those who missed the point completely -0 -
Oh and i forgot, when i gave my manager the letter from my doctor asking for a chair to be provided, I heard her say " f***ing lazy b*tch" directed towards me. I was so unhappy but didn't want to leave and miss out on my maternity entitlements so i stuck it out till my maternity leave and never went back.
So when you are next in Woolies and the staff are not as quick on the tills as you would like them to be, remember they are under alot of pressure from the management and alot are bullied too, with the attitude of "well if you don't like the way we treat you, theres the door".And yes the lady in the avatar is me

But was that just a really cr*p manager, or are all woolworths managers like that?0
