I love shopping in Woolworths but one thing does puzzle me; why is an item showing as sold out online (and has done for weeks) when they are having deliveries of the exact same product weekly instore? Could it be because that they want you to go instore to see if it is in stock in the hope you will buy something else???? Or am I just too cynical!!0

Thanks to all involved in our little discourse - I feel much better now!
AFAIK this is what the Vent board is about, getting stuff off one's chest.
Of course I want you all to boycott Woolies - but then I want to eradicate child poverty in the UK and also figure out a way to get onto the property ladder - and I can't see those happening in a hurry either.
For those who have been game enough to get involved -
For those who missed the point completely -
Well done!
I had found Woolies a boring dump until now.0 -
I am going to join the boycott.
2 weeks ago my daughter decided that she wanted to get her brother the Raven interactive DVD for Christmas. She saw it on woolworths site and said we may as well order it.
So I did it on my card.
Today I got 2 emails from them
The first emailDear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for your recent order.
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel your order as we have incorrect address details. Please log back in to your Woolworths account and update your address details. Once you are sure that your details are correct you may place a new order.
Please note if this item is required for Christmas you will need to check our website for a new delivery date.
I hope you will accept my apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.
Regards

Re: Raven on order **********
Our suppliers have informed us that despite their best intentions they are unable to supply us with all or part of your order.
We have tried to source the product(s) for you however we have not been able to on this occasion. Therefore to allow you to look elsewhere in time for Christmas all or part of your order has now been cancelled and your card credited. Please allow 5-7 working days for this to show in your account.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience that we have caused.

So to start with they tell 2 completely different stories and now we have 4 days in which to get either this DVD or something else for her to give her brother.
I am not happy but both emails say I cannot reply.
I did have a look around at the time to compare the price and Woolworths was the cheapest too ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I actually handed my notice in yesterday because of those reasons. I've been at Woolies for less than three months after spending many years working in retail for reputable companies and cannot believe how staff are treated. We are spoken to like dirt, expected to work 14 hour shifts to get the jobs done we can't as we are doing customer service, we have had no funds from the company for a xmas party yet the managers in the area had a £1000 slap up do. Don't even get me started on the "woolworths don`t recognise New Years Day as a holiday so it`s single time for you"
I'm disgusted by it and am glad to be leaving now before I become bitter and twisted like some of the others that have no choice but to carry on working0 -
