I think in some parts of the world - something makes me want to say Canada? - the advice is for all women of childbearing age to take folic acid daily, whether they are planning a pregnancy or not. I keep meaning to get around to buying a pre-pregnancy vitamin that includes folic acid and will probably start taking one more than 3 months before TTC. It can't do any harm!

Sk00bie rest assured that feeling scared doesn't go away. I started this thread around two years ago and not once has the broodiness left me. Now I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant (after TTC for 11 months) and I'm more and more scared every day!

Congratulations!!!! That's fantastic news, I hope your pregnancy is going to plan and you're enjoying it :)

You're right, the advice in Canada is for women to take folic acid daily - partially to make sure you're covered in the event of an unplanned pregnancy and partially because there's some evidence that taking folic acid regularly for up to a year before conceiving lowers the risk of miscarriage. I tried to follow their advice but I'm terrible at remembering to take tablets so it is good to get into practice as well!

It's really good to see this thread back - it had gone extremely quiet and I think I sort of drifted away because I was trying my best not to think about how broody I was/am and reading/posting here was a bit of a reminder.

I had really hoped to be at the ntnp stage by now but we're no further forward. I'm settled into my new job and doing really well there and we've settled into the new area we moved to as well. We're going on holiday in a couple of weeks' time and when we get back we plan to start looking for a house to buy....it should really be all systems go for us, but my partner seems to pull faces or make negative comments every time babies come up in conversation. We need to sit down and have a proper talk about future plans and time scales because I worry quite a bit about my age and not having forever and don't think he gets that or understands just how broody I feel. Hopefully we'll be able to have some good talks on our holiday...these things are so much easier away from 'real' life!

    Wedding Day Wonder
    Hello!

For those that haven't heard of me, I have come over from the April 2013 brides thread, daisiegg suggested I join in!

Reading this last page very briefly, its made me think about when I have the implant removed and what will happen!

For most of my period having life, I have been on contraception. For 5 years I had the depo-provera injection, which then I was told I could no longer have as the risk of osteoporosis is high after 5 years continual use. So the 12 weekly injection stopped, and I had Implanon inserted into my arm for 3 years. When 3 years was up, I had it removed and replaced with Nexplanon. I currently still have the Nexplanon in.

I had to wait for a period between the injections and the implant which took around 10 months. As soon as the first day hit, I was in touch with the Dr's and had the implant fitted. So in roughly 11/12 years I have only had 1 period!!!

Has anyone any experience of having the implant removed and how long it took before you experienced any kind of period, or even how long it took to conceive?

I got my first period just after five weeks after having the implant removed. I conceived within five months but sadly that pregnancy wasn't to be... This pregnancy occurred 11 months post implant

Hi all, not quite an April bride but getting married in July, and planning to start TTC after the wedding.
I was thankful for this quote:

Well I have been off my pill since end of January and already had two periods! Quite surprised since I was on the pill for 12 years!
    - have only been on the pill for a year and a bit, but still worry about how long it'll take to get back to normal!

We have financial concerns, I'm overweight, and have a dodgy back, but with both of us being 38, it could be getting into the now-or-never field. (Only met hubby2be in September 2011.) We know we'll always be able to make sure potential baby is warm and fed, but we're still hoping for a lottery win!

The TTC thread seems a bit heavy, I guess because at the moment I'm just focusing on the wedding, one thing at a time iykwim. It doesn't help that close family keep going on about how will I cope with being preggers with my back - erm, I don't know! To the point where I've had to tell them to stop talking about babies and let me concentrate on the wedding. Feeling an awful lot of pressure! We both want kids, but I haven't a clue how we're going to do it. It's very scary.

I completely agree with you! I mean, good on all those ladies for being so focused and I can see that the support they offer each other is fantastic. They are all obviously so knowledgeable and it's great. But I don't know if I would ever get the hang of all the acronyms and I would probably be banished immediately as I really don't like this whole 'dance' thing that is used instead of saying sex. I don't think dancing is going to produce many babies ;)

Maybe when the time comes I need a 'we're a bit rubbish TTC' thread...for those who are trying but just aren't going to get the hang of all the phrases and so on! :rotfl:

Ladies the ttc thread is honestly not that scary!!
There's a list of acronyms on the first page and everyone over there is really friendly. It's really handy to have such great support :) especially when you're trying to get to grips with it. You'll get the hang of all the chat in no time :) x
