    Gosh, it's been quiet here...
Well I'm no.longer waiting to TTC, I got my BFP yesterday :j:j:j
We have not tried and not prevented since Christmas as we wanted to be in our own home before 'trying properly'. We completed on house purchase on Friday and we're moving in tomorrow :D
Great timing! I'll move to less than 12 weeks pregnant thread then. Good luck to all!

Sorry I am a bit late but no one said anything in response to your news so CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D

I'm here! :hello: (Hello my fellow April bride :D)

It's time for me to de-lurk as well, I'm in pretty much the same boat as Daisie!

OH's mum keeps making reference to her sixth grandchild (during her speech at the reception and every time we've seen her since :rotfl: ), as you say it's expected now we've got the wedding out the way.

We were planning to live up to that expectation and were going to start to TTC immediately after. However we've decided we have to wait a little as we want to move to our own place first (living in shared accomodation at the moment) and that is dependant on OH getting a better paid job. We also spent a bit more than we should have in Vegas so need to replenish the savings pot!

I don't know if I'm scared but it recently hit me how much of a change it'll be to have a child. We made a loose plan to return to Vegas in summer 2014 and then I realised that wouldn't happen if we had a little one, and probably wouldn't happen for another decade at least

Daisie, I think if it were me, and I was going to decorate the spare room as a nursery when I was expecting, I'd just do the bare minimum now, maybe just paint over the red? No point doing it up all nicely if you're going to change it in six months or so!

Congratulations to those who've graduated this thread in one way or another, hope it'll be me before too long!

Yay skoobs! We were April bride buddies now we can be waiting to TTC buddies :D

I know what you mean about Vegas...it is one of the reasons we are not trying this year! :rotfl: I want just ONE more California/Vegas holiday while we are child free. We are booked this August and I can't wait. But I know that after that holiday...I will want another one! Our big USA summer holidays are a huge thing for us and I think it will be really hard to give those up.

That said, the first time my parents took us to the USA on a summer holiday my youngest sibling was only 3. We had AMAZING summer holidays in the USA when I was growing up (including Vegas when my brother was 9!) so it CAN be done with kids. Obviously it won't be the same though and my silly husband refuses to fly economy long haul, so we'd have to be doing pretty well to afford to take a couple of kids in business or first :(

Boooo it is depressing. I keep thinking we should just wait another few years :rotfl: But we have more of a time constraint because although I am only 25, my husband is 40 and we don't want him to be an incredibly old dad :( (which he already will be!) also I have suspected endometriosis (symptoms not bad enough to investigate) and have been told one of the best things to do for it is start having babies early!
  • Sk00bie rest assured that feeling scared doesn't go away. I started this thread around two years ago and not once has the broodiness left me. Now I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant (after TTC for 11 months) and I'm more and more scared every day!

    Congratulations from me too!

Haha It's not just Vegas, that's just the thing that made me realise all of the changes we'll have to live with :D

I know we'll be able to have holidays with kids, money permitting of course. We too had some amazing trips when I was younger. I've just become aware of the lifestyle change required, now that the time is almost here. Like not being able to get trollied on a whim, not being able to splash out on random stuff etc etc.

That sounds really shallow I know :o I know I definitely, 100% want kids and know I'd regret it if we didn't, it's just a surprise that it's suddenly hit me!!

Following the other April brides, I'm here too! We were originally talking about trying straight after the wedding...but now I'm scared! There's so many variables to consider and I just wish someone could tell me how long it'll take! I'm scared it'll take us ages to fall pregnant but I'm also scared it might happen quickly and we won't really be prepared.

So at the moment we're working out a vague plan. I've stopped taking my pill, and having been on it for 10 years now I'm not quite sure what will happen next. We're thinking about one more 'nice' holiday in September (seems to be a popular choice with the April ladies!) and then going for it. I kind of feel that I'll never be ready 100% so we should just get on with it!

Hi laura :D we can all be scared and confused and having holiday-lust together :rotfl:

If you don't mind me asking a personal question how is it going being off the pill? I am petrified of it, having been on it for most of my period-having life! At the moment I run three packs of the pill together (at a doctor's advice, it is fine) and I love being able to choose/control exactly when I have my period...I am scared of it just coming willy nilly and never knowing exactly what is going on! Am also worried because I have heard horror stories of it taking years to get back to normal fertility after being on the pill :( I just hope those are exceptional cases!

Daisie don't worry, I'm sure they are exeptional cases and that you'll be fine!

I stopped taking the pill myself just after OH proposed, I wanted to lose weight and had a feeling it was making me gain. (I lost 28lbs after stopping so I think I was partly right ;) )

I was on it for 4 years and stopped at the end of a pack to try and not confuse my body too much. My first period came 3 days later as normal, the next two were about 6-7 weeks apart and now I'm really regular, every 5 weeks. I was pretty regular before hand though, so maybe that helped. I've definitely got better at spotting the signs it's about to start as well so I rarely get a 'surprise'

Now my turn for a question if I may...

Did your sister say how far ahead you should start taking folic acid? Your comment made me I'm wonder if I should taking it now or wait until like 3 months before, or when we start trying properly?

  • You should definitely take folic acid for three months before, but there is no harm in taking it for longer. If anything it helps you keep the discipline of taking a pill every day.

There is no standard length of time it takes for your cycles to return to normal. I was on implanon and that came out of my system really quickly - first cycle was 39 days, subsequent ones 28/29 ish.
