Hi everyone
I read this thread quite a bit and thought it was time I joined in. Noticed lots of other newbies/activities atm too
Planning to be around for while - 6 months min but more realistically a year plus.
Not in a great financial situation atm so currently trying to pull that round. Also am working but in a part time casual job - need to get a full time career type job, which will help the money situation and also give me something I can go back into.
Also OH & I could both do with losing weight/getting fitter first so we have a while to do that.
OH does not like to talk about it much b/c he would rather plan the day before or something
Had implant for last 6 years but planning on changing soon when its due out b/c this one has been a pain for making me bleed all the time!
I am 21 but OH is in his 40s which is also a slight (but not major) concern.PAID OFF FEB 2014 - £62.00

Thank you.
Did not know whether to join in at first b/c seemed such a long time and also b/c of my age (that sounds daft now I have typed it).
At least we will not be alone then as people move off
Hope the time flies for you, I am sure it willxxx

Thanks to all for the good luck on the job front. About to head off on a 2 hour drive for an interview!!
It varies widely from person to person.
I was on the pill from 13 to 28, and my cycles went straight into a pretty settled pattern straight away (between 26 and 34 days). So, length of hormonal contraception isn't really the deciding factor. It's our bodies.
And, oddly enough, the reason I started in the first place was because of very heavy/painful, and very irregular periods (8 days on, 7 days off). But it hasn't been like that since I came off the pill about 19/20 months ago. Heavy and painful at times? Sure. But that long and irregular? Nope.
But, others experiences are very different. Unfortunately, it is one of those things where you just won't know until you do it.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Knowing my mum, I probably won't have to buy anything: I can see what is going to happen even now. The baby will showered with some much that he/she won't be able to use them all :rotfl:
Same here! Our Son/Daughter will be the first baby in the family for years. Both Parents first Grandchild, and Grandparents Great Grandchild. It's going to be completely spoilt. My Mum has already told us she'll be buying us the pram! Which sempt overly generous until she chipped in "I've seen all those lovely green ones you can get.." (She has a thing with green.. every time I go over there's a new green something in the house)
And thanks, EllieI know he didn't mean what he said, he was a lot better last night. Positive for a start!
I think I'm with the masses on what I'm okay with being second hand, and what I'd want new. Pram, mattress and car seat I'd want new. 100%. And possibly swings/bouncers. OH is the problem, I mentioned getting second hand things and he wasn't impressed. Argued the point on a moses basket, but I have a feeling we'll be getting mostly new nursery furniture.
Welcome Staple and Ruby :hello: I'm kind of new here too. And I'm 21 also, RubySo we're in the same boat!

Welcome Staple and Ruby!
Cinny - I'm glad to hear that your OH is more positive and back on the same page now. I think with such a big thing it's inevitable that we (and our partners) will all have little wobbles now and again. I love travel myself and I do have moments where I think I'd really like to see/do x, y and z and you can't do that with a baby (I know that you can take babies/kids on holiday but not really the sort of holidays we go on because we like adventurous non-touristy things and I can't imagine taking the same risks with a child). But then I remember my age and that people are fitter a lot longer now so there are a lot of things we'll be able to do when any future baby is old enough to come along/stay home but that for me the clock is seriously ticking fertility wise.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -

*unlurks*
The standard answer is 6-12 months off the pill for cycles to return to 'normal'. But of course its different for everyone, I finished the pill in Apr/May and was pregnant by end of June, but I count myself very lucky and am grateful for that.0 -

Thank you findingmyownway.
I use the evra patch, does anyone have experience coming of of the patch? They haven't been around that long so I don't know if I should expect things to go the same way as people who are on the pill or not. At my age even 6-12 months seems like a long time so I really need to think about stopping it and using other methods sooner rather than later!
Also does anyone else ever get EWCM while on hormonal contraceptive? I'd never heard of it or what it means before joining this thread (and lurking a little on the TTC thread) so I was surprised to read that it is an indicator of ov. Does anyone know of any other reason for EWCM? I shouldn't be ov because of the patch (and I don't think I have ov because before going on hormonal contraception I had nasty cramps whenever I did and that hasn't happened) but I do sometimes get EWCM and I don't understand why!
Sorry if that's a bit tmi!!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
