Best of luck with your interview, Amus
Try not to feel to bad about the spending, Optimistic-Mum! I know it would have looked a lot nicer coming off the debt, but I know it's a weight off my mind when I'm on a tight budget but have gifts sorted. And anyways, you might see some of the gifts "in person" and decide you don't like them/they're not quite right. Don't let it get you down, it sounds like you have a great plan. And £400 off your debt a month is amazing!
Feeling a bit deflated today, I guess. Had my Sister over last night (who know's we're saving to try) and she was overall just so negative. I know one of the big factors is that in her eyes we're putting saving for a baby before going to her wedding, which isn't true. So 90% of it is her just sulking. But I was speaking to OH after she left about what she said, one thing being "wouldn't you rather spend 3 years travelling and having fun" my obvious answer is "No, I've never been interested in that. I've always wanted a family and to be a Mum" but OH's answer was "Well, it would be nice" so now I'm just confused. I asked him to tell me what he wanted, because I thought we were on the same page but if he wants to travel I don't want to "tie him down" (although you can still travel with a baby, it's just a bit different!) and all I got was "Well, you want a family"He was tired from being at an Expo all day, and grumpy from the travelling so I'm trying not to take it to heart and will speak to him after work tonight.

This is like me hun.... pill from 14 years old because of the very heavy and painful periods that had no pattern to them and were just making my life difficult when I was so young… took this until 18 yo and then injection until 21 yo and then 6 months of the pill and then I came off to clear out my body because a nurse scared me that after 7 years of non-stop contraceptives you have to prepare for the fact that it could take just as long for your body to go back to 'normal' and I knew I wanted to start trying before 28yo so just on condoms from 21 onwards.....bit risky but was in a happy relationship and wouldn't have been ideal at the time but would have worked out ok if i fell by accident!
However...i digress.... the point I initially meant to make was that when my periods did return to 'normal' (about 6 months after my last pill) they were nowhere near as bad as when I was younger and they were very regular so I think it helped top sort them out so you might be lucky and they might not be as bad now J
Talking of Bible, I love the name Eva but apparently, it's not fashionable in England!
That was one of my top girls names too – a less fashionable name will be better! If you are French there is no reason you can’t use Noelle… I love it but I’m having a boy!:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
good luck to everyone with interviews/debt busting/saving
it all takes you 1 step closer to your TTC goal!
Awww Cinny, that's not very fair of your OH! Sounds like a mega-confusing comment! Especially as you guys had talked and made a joint decision, maybe he's just having a small moment of doubt, and hopefully he'll get back on track soon.0 -
What book do you mean? The Bible? :rotfl: Talking of Bible, I love the name Eva but apparently, it's not fashionable in England!
And regarding the job. a) good luckand b) that is what I tell myself. If I don't get a job for January then we go straight to TTC. We just took this decision actually.
Haha no I mean the 50 Shades book (Anastasia)! I still like the name but I dont want people thinking Ive named my child after a character in a sex book!
I also like Eva/Eve that was my second choice after Anastasia!!
Cant see myself with a girl though, pretty sure if I have another it will be a boy!
Good luck with finding a job and/or TTC!! I know which one will be more fun :rotfl:.0 -

I also love the name Eva, and Eve is a nice one as. Actually, Eva is one of the names on my list
I have quite an unusual name, and kind of think my kids should have unusual names too. But I can't think of any that I don't think sounds a bit too outrageous!
I tend to get inspired by characters in books, lol, but deffo wouldn't choose Anastasia just for that reason! (I've not read, and won't be reading the books in question...)Shame, cos it's a lovely name!0 -

It's what I'm hoping for too. It's even worse that he told me Sunday night to start looking at "deals" on things, just so we can get a feel for costs, as he's expecting to hear back from a client that would secure his job and mean we could move onto TTC sooner than expected :undecided I did tell him though to tell me if travelling is what he wanted, as I don't mind waiting longer as long as I'm told so don't get my hopes up any more.
I forgot to say, Eva is a lovely nameI love Anastasia too, but was put off it because of the singer
I will admit, most of our names are taken from WWE wrestlers. Either their ring or birth names *ahem*

the only thing i have is his first baby grow in with his baby book. i dont have 1 single peice of baby equipment but DP and MIL
Knowing my mum, I probably won't have to buy anything: I can see what is going to happen even now. The baby will showered with some much that he/she won't be able to use them all :rotfl: (I still can't get around calling a baby "it". In French we use the masculine by default as it's also "neutral". I'll have to get used to it :rotfl:
So I wouldn't worry about "things". Like you, I don't mind second hand, but not the car seat. It's the only thing (with shoes when they start walking), that I won't scrimp on. No way. And obviously a new mattressAnd just think all you'll be able to do and save with £400/month
Gosh Cinny, I would have slapped your sister! Throwing something like that in the conversation just to spoil your joy... Don't worry about what your partner said, we all say things we regret when we're tired. And also this notion of traveling is maybe just a symbol of his freedom. Once you become a parent, your heart belongs to someone else, you're not free anymore. It can be quite scary. So maybe the traveling in itself is not the problem at all! Plus you can travel when your kids are older, late teens and onwoard. Think about it: you'll probably be financially better, etc so not minging hostels for youHaha no I mean the 50 Shades book (Anastasia)! I still like the name but I dont want people thinking Ive named my child after a character in a sex book!
:rotfl: so not the Bible at all!!!! That really made me laugh. I love the name Anastasia, it's so romantic!
And I am starting to think my husband just lied to me because he just didn't like "Eva"...That was one of my top girls names too – a less fashionable name will be better! If you are French there is no reason you can’t use Noelle…
My husband doesn't like NoëlleCant see myself with a girl though, pretty sure if I have another it will be a boy!
And I am almost certain we'll have a girlHow much do you want to bet that (hopefully!) in a year's time, I learn I'm expecting a boy :rotfl:

Agh, I really hope it doesn't take as many years for my cycles to return to normal - I'm almost 28, started on the Pill at 19!
Thanks to all for the good luck on the job front. About to head off on a 2 hour drive for an interview!!0 -
Hi everyone!!
Just stumbled across this thread and i love it. I guess because i've never paid any attention to the pregnancy threads before now and skipped over them.
My and my boyfriend have started talking more seriously recently about TTC soon. We have a little bit on a credit card we want to pay off first and put some more saving away.
What is bothering me at the moment though is like the posts just above about being on the pill for a long time but i have been on the depo provera injection for around 10 years now and i have never had a period on it. Has nayone been in a similar situation? I am looking to come off it and go on the pill for now but i just hope i can get a regular cycle back!!
Thanks for reading0
