So I weighed my self this morning and am now a bit confused. according to the scales I have lost the grand total of 1lb, but I also seem to have lost an inch off my bum, an inch off my hips and an inch off both my thighs. Is that even possible  ??

Could it be that whilst I've upped the exercise massively (58km on my cross trainer!) I've not been that great with my eating/drinking :o so whilst I haven't shifted any lard I've toned a bit?
Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you've upped the exercise then yes, it's possible that you now have more muscle than before - which weighs more - but that you've slimmed down visually. (Especially if the food intake hasn't dropped at the same time) More/bigger muscle also means that they individually burn more calories when you exercise too, so it's a good thing ;) Well done on 3" gone! :)

Feeling a bit weird reading all the cycles and stuff. I'm obviously a bit carp at these things.

I don't understand the setting your cycle, choosing specific dates to try and conceive. I didn't do the whole iron, vitamins folic acid thing with DD1 as she was unplanned and pregnancy wasn't diagnosed til 29 weeks and she's fine.

Both my girls were conceived with very little effort, no temp charts, cycle checking, irregular sex etc. I do believe that sometimes less worry, less obsession with doing things right is easier.

I have watched friends become obsessed with TTC and have strangely often conceived on holiday when these checks have gone out the window:rotfl:

Each to their own though, I'm fortunately in the position where I have never really 'tried' for a baby DD1 unplanned, DD2 conceived first month - so not had to think about optimum times etc.
    OPs so far £42,139
Original end date Nov 2037 (53) Current end date June 2024 (40) Aiming for 5 years to be Mf
    DD1 Oct 2008:), DD2 Jul 2010:), DD3 Aug 2013:)

  • Just popping in to say hello. Haven't been around much this weekend as I did the moonwalk last night so I've either been sleeping or walking.... Good for weightloss though!

    Morning all!

Huge congrats on the moonwalk COMP x

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend - I spent mine cooking all sorts of yummy food to feed OH up after he was very poorly a couple of weeks ago (we watched the Royal Wedding in hospital). It was also six years this weekend that we got together so in true MSE spirit instead of going out for an expensive meal I cooked for a fraction of the cost and we now have lots of leftovers. Although the treacle tart is disappearing quick!

I (and by that I mean IT geek OH of course) found a cool trick on Amazon - if you use firefox as your browser and go into your wishlist it lets you install an add on which means you can add things from all over the internet - handy for building up ideas of costs (and noticing when things go on sale), things you like etc. At the moment I am using it to save all the things I need/want for when we come back and buy a house, but I hope that one day it will get used for baby stuff!

I think I have decided that rather than keep incomprehensible notes in my work diary I am going to start trying to keep track properly of what my body does when. Does Fertility Friend let you track stuff without temping or do you have to temp?

Well done on the moonwalk COMP!

I had a lovely weekend, OH was home on leave (he's on detachment at the mo) from Fri morning. We didn't do a lot, just a lot of QT at home, plenty of snuggles and good food! Was a brill few days and feeling a bit gutted now he's gone again. Have to admit to a bit of a cry after he left last night! It's silly really as before we moved in together last year it was perfectly normal for us not to see each other for 4/5 days at a time. But now I'm so used to him being there when I come home, overnight etc.

To compensate I've got some night shift overtime this week to make the week go a bit quicker. Plus the money is good! Lol.

It works on any browser afaik - but definitely on Chrome cos that's what I use :p

You can have more than one wishlist too, and name them different things, and with different privacy settings, so you can call one "baby wishlist"or whatever too ;)

Yes, yes it does :) And it's free too. You can see mine here: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/340920 I only started temping this cycle. The previous cycles were just logged by AF dates etc.

Those of you who are already mummies-can you give us a ball park figure of how much we could expect to spend before the babes is born on car seats/baby grows/things I've probably never even heard of.. :rotfl:
My spreadsheets on pc at home, will have to let you know for definite tomorrow but we spent roughly £1500 on baby things, ranging from lovely big cotbed down to the tiniest pairs of booties(waste of time btw!) but we did get a little help from parents so probs nearer £2k BUT lots of what we got was pointless(didn't know that at the time:o) especially the nice big £200 travel system, if you drive I really wouldn't bother with one, get a 0+ carseat and a seperate lightweight buggy, saves having to buy a seperate buggy 6months later:o:)

Weighed myself this am and I've got a starting weight of 10stone 2lbs:eek::eek::eek: actually its not too bad as its my pre-preg weight:cool: only probs is I'm only 5'2.5" so I currently look a bit dumpy round the middle:o and a pic from the weekend comfirms it! lol
    1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:
    [STRIKE]Car Loan = £0[/STRIKE] CCCS Total = £30,246.88 Total Debt Paid off - 32.78%
DFD [STRIKE]Nov[/STRIKE][STRIKE]Sept[/STRIKE]Aug 2018:o Only 75 payments to go:)

I got all excited when I read this and marched off to tell hubby, thrilled that for once I knew something he didn't! He then deflated my gleeful bubble by explaining that when he had said that it would only work at home he didn't mean only on Firefox, just that it won't work on IE at work as our work security doesn't allow us to download toolbars etc.

How stupid did I feel! Luckily it's something I am quite used to :rotfl:

So I am trying to be as MSE as possible with the weight loss. Instead of joining a gym (which costs about £1600 per year for a basic membership here - no classes etc!) I bought a crosstrainer (I can't road run as I nearly ruptured my achilles tendon running last year as apparently I have wonky feet :D) for about £350 and have been trying to find cheap classes.

Last night I went to a pilates class (good for that pelvic floor!) at a nearby international school. I was dead chuffed for finding it as it only costs about £2.80 per session. The class itself was great - slower than I am used to but I really felt it after. It was VERY Kenyan though - by that I mean it started 35 mins after it was supposed to, when we came to leave the askaris (guards) had locked us in so we had to stand and yell for them to come and unlock the gates, then the drive home (which should have taken 15 mins tops) ended up taking 90 mins due to even worse than normal Nairobi traffic and several incidences of car vs bus. I finally got in (after have set off at 1630) at 2010 and had to do with beans on toast for tea!

I had a bit of good news today - I get to go down to South Africa on a work trip week after next - I CAN BUY CHEESE!!!!

On the subject of food - are any of you altering what you eat/drink in prep for TTC?

Plans tonight are to battle what will no doubt be stupid traffic to get to the shops (they are resurfacing the main road through the city - the equivilent of taking the M1 down to 1 lane at rush hour but with no signage, lane control, speed control etc), throw a dinner together, work out, eat dinner, study, collapse, then wake up with a start at 0550 when the alarm goes off tomorrow!

I'm seriously considering getting a Kinect. The only problem with that is OH is usually on the xbox which lives in one of the bedrooms so he'd need 'persuading' to let the xbox downstairs!

I'm also using some of the dance games on the Wii but haven't found them to be very responsive - perhaps the kinect ones would be better?
