We're the same as you Dreamdreamer-we're trying to get a savings account together for the hopeful future with babies. I'm waiting to hear if we've got bonuses at work this year, then intend to a)get rid of the last of my debt (approx £2k) and put the rest into an ISA. We're also going to try to start a savings account to put money into. Ideally we'd like at lease £6k saved, I would like to take a year off and am thinking (probably naively) if we have £6k saved, that can add £500/month to the maternity pay.
Those of you who are already mummies-can you give us a ball park figure of how much we could expect to spend before the babes is born on car seats/baby grows/things I've probably never even heard of.. :rotfl:0 -
Hey! feel free to pick away!
Glad to help if I can

Hi everyone, I like most have been a longterm lurker! I have stopped taking the pill and am still waiting for AF to show......currently on CD40!
I was on the pill for 12 years so guess this is going to take some time. We do not intend to start trying until August.
Is anyone else waiting for the pill to leave their system and if so how long does it take??
thanks0 -
Hi littleme82
I think it varies from person to person to be honest. I still have the implant and prior to that I was on the pill since 2000, so I'll have a lot of hormones to get out of my system! Not looking forward to it at all!

Hi ladies,
Welcome to WTTC MV and welcome to MSE littleme82
:hello::hello:
Must say, this thread is giving me very itchy feet as well as making me broody!!!
India, Africa, Japan! You are a well travelled bunch!
Well I have had a productive couple of days- I joined weight watchers online last night as this weeks MSE email has a topcashback code for money off and cashback on top making it free for 3 months with cashback too! I've downloaded the app so it's been really easy to track me day today. I'm sure i'll have to call on willpower later though when the wine is calling me!
Last weekend I had ordered a "planning for a healthy pregnancy" book from Tommys which arrived yesterday. It's a completely free resource. Very MSE!!! It's a 67 page book with sections on coming off different types of contraception, nutrition, genetics, conception and being pregnant. Can't recommend it highly enough ladies! Acutally can't recommend it at all as I've not posted enough to post a link. Booooooooo! Basically go to tommys site and it's under pregnancy publications info, then pregnancy publications.
I had ordered some opk's from amazon which arrived a few weeks ago. Used one a couple of days ago and no smiley face, used one last night and got a smiley face. It was a bit wierd as this is the first month I'm properly tracking ovulation. I also saw about 10 babies yesterday, they were everywhere!!! Came home very broody only to find it was an optimum day for ttc. DH was like "come on then, lets just go for it" so I'm having to be the sensible one!
Anyway, off to get the tea on.

Thought I'd pop a quick post on here to say hello. I'm an old timer from the ttc, then pregnancy and now parent thread.
I had my beautiful son in january this year. He is simply glorious, and I am already feeling broody for no 2!clearing_out_my_pockets wrote: »I want to sign up to fertility friend - I feel like I'm missing out!
Would be a bit pointless at the moment though!mintedby30? wrote: »Last weekend I had ordered a "planning for a healthy pregnancy" book from Tommys which arrived yesterday. I might tell the ladies on the TTC thread tooTa MB30

Thanks for the link minted and bigzippy! Uh - slightly odd question but what sort of packaging does the book arrive in?
So I weighed my self this morning and am now a bit confused. according to the scales I have lost the grand total of 1lb, but I also seem to have lost an inch off my bum, an inch off my hips and an inch off both my thighs. Is that even possible  ??
Could it be that whilst I've upped the exercise massively (58km on my cross trainer!) I've not been that great with my eating/drinkingso whilst I haven't shifted any lard I've toned a bit?

Wow, well done on being so MSE! :money:Thanks for the info on the book - will definately look into that :TSo I weighed my self this morning and am now a bit confused. according to the scales I have lost the grand total of 1lb, but I also seem to have lost an inch off my bum, an inch off my hips and an inch off both my thighs. Hi Kalama :hello: That inch loss is great, well done! Since starting to lose weight, I frequently take measurements, particularly if the scales aren't showing a great loss. I always think that inch loss is the best thing - hardly anyone will know your weight in figures but inch loss is something very noticeable :T And yes, I will be working in the area I've done my degree - I can't believe how lucky I am to have secured a job in today's climate! Thanks for kind words - I must say your job sounds pretty amazing too! Will you be coming back to England when TTC/pregnant or is that something you will consider at the time?
Hi to MV too - well done on beautiful little boy
Lovely start to weekend here, doing uni work this morning and out tonight for a few drinkies
Hope all are well

Thanks for the encouragment - I think I will defo be measuring often so I don't get too obsessed by what the scales say!
My job is pretty cool - but then like all jobs it has moments where it completely sucks! It is tough though and there have been days this week where I have felt the need to punch something.....
We are going to start TTC out here and if all goes well have a sprog out here too. I will have the option of coming back to the UK if I want but that means (with flying restrictions etc) that I would be back for quite a long time and hubby would have to stay here as he works too. We are lucky to have really good ML and PL packages so we would be able to come back for a nice long visit after without it mucking up finances etc. Hark at me getting ahead of myself!
Glad you are having a lovely weekend - I have worked out and cleaned myself and the kitchen up (totally unrelated - my workout does not include making a mess!) and am now off to have a cup of tea and curl up on the sofa with my study books and a nice big blanket.
