Loving the birth stories thanks ladies! I'm not particularly afraid of childbirth, I'm much more afraid of the after-effects on my body. I have visions of being a stretch-marked saggy incontinent mess! Not that I'm an oil painting now but I value my bladder... I've been watching too much embarrassing bodies!euronorris - I'm in Kenya. Today I really know I am in Kenya as the power failed at work at 10am and then the generators failed and then the computers failed... Twas great fun especially as when we have no power none of the doors work and none of the bathrooms have windows or emergency lighting.
Whereabouts are you Kalama? I lived and worked in Kenya in '05/'06. In Kitengela and then in Nakuru. Had a brilliant time! I was only meant to be there 3 months but wound up staying over a year.
You sound like a globetrotter - NZ pic looks amazing!! Will you keep that up once you start TTC/having kids or do you plan to settle somewhere? My parents took me all over the place as a child and it definitely gave me the travelling bug! Sadly my job and debt-free mission have meant I haven't done anything adventurous since I went to Japan in 2008. Itchy feet!Super duper tired here - did a 12 hour night shift last night and another tonight.
Right, off to get ready for work. Have a good evening all!

confuzzled - it's our jobs (we work for the government). That and we really like to travel! For my current job I cover about 12 countries so I get to go on a fair few business trips - to lovely places like the Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. If you want to be more nosy (:p) and know more pm me!
as to weight loss - I am doing my first weigh in on Saturday so will post here....I really hope I have a loss!
T - sorry to hear you are so tired. If you don't mind me asking what degree are you doing? Congrats on the weight loss xx"No society can surely be flourishing and happy of which by far the greater part of the numbers are poor and miserable"Adam Smith6/300 -

I'm in Nairobi (traffic ). We are very very lucky to have been able to travel lots - it's pretty much the only thing we spend money on! We will (if things happen how I hope) have a bubba out here then prob go back to the UK for a bit at least. We are hoping that we can continue the travel but it very much depends on how everything goes money wise over the next few years.
I went to Japan in 2008 too - amazing place. Was devastated about the earthquake"No society can surely be flourishing and happy of which by far the greater part of the numbers are poor and miserable"Adam Smith6/300 -

The colleague I've been working with this week is nearly 5 mths pregnant and she looks ready to drop by midnight bless her. She's keeping the nights up until her 25th week to keep her pay up (unsocial hours allowance drops if you quit nights while pregnant) for her maternity pay assessment and then dropping them like a hot potato!
Right, off to get ready for work. Have a good evening all!

Wow Dreamer, four nights is hard going! I used to do this job a few years ago and go back to do the odd shift here and there, been very helpful to a poor student! But its so hard getting back into night shifts, they mess up my sleeping patterns for a few days. Have a good nightT - sorry to hear you are so tired. Triangle - wow. Will you be working in that area? I have enormous respect for anyone who does - my job involves me working with Social Services in the UK reasonably often and the situations they have to deal with leave me speechless.
Jen - your job sounds amazing too - business trips to India!!
Right ladies - anyone know where I can find out good info on when I need to start taking vitamins etc in prep for TTC? I'm probably dashing back to the UK at the end of August which is likely to be my only chance to stock up.
It's chuffing freezing this morning - huge heavy black rain clouds as well. Oh well - I have a weekend of nothing but cooking, film watching and exercise to look forward to!"No society can surely be flourishing and happy of which by far the greater part of the numbers are poor and miserable"Adam Smith6/300 -
Hello ladies
Thought I'd pop a quick post on here to say hello. I'm an old timer from the ttc, then pregnancy and now parent thread.
I had my beautiful son in january this year. He is simply glorious, and I am already feeling broody for no 2!
We are going to wait until next year, but I can't afford to hang about too long as I am 38 now, so time ticking on!
Fuzz - great to see you on here! You never know, we may end up on the ttc board together again! :rotfl:Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hi MV! I have to admit - I remember you from your posts on the TTC thread. Yes - I've been lurking there for quite a while! Congrats on the birth of your son xx
*tries not to look too creepy*

I want to sign up to fertility friend - I feel like I'm missing out!
Would be a bit pointless at the moment though!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
This is TTC and MSE related, get me all on-topic! I've just switched to first direct for my banking and OH had the lovely idea of marking the next chapter in our lives (the debt free baby making chapter) by opening a saving account and putting the £100 welcome bonus in as the start of our baby fund. We want 3k in it ideally before I'm pregnant so that we can just enjoy it without worrying about whether we can afford things.
Also looking at going to Egypt in November but not sure as if pregnant I would not fly there.DEBT FREE 3rd Sept 2011
