Those who are waiting to TTC

Hello,
Hope everyone is ok and not getting too broody.
I have finally got my job changed so only work 4 days a week, yay!! So now have a day to clean the house, food shop etc....very exciting haha!!
We have also booked a holiday for October to Greece will be first holiday abroad in 9 years so really looking forward to that.
Can't believe it is nearly 6 months till we get married so very busy with preparation work.0 -
Great news about your job. Youll love greece im sure, everytime we go abroad thats where we go, a different island each time, never been to the mainland though. I love the history, and the people are so friendly and make it a lovely time.
Haha we're both so broody that we decided to not wait till Swptember but start ttc in just over a week (once I'm off the pill). We've both started taking supplements to get us ready. We figured financial wise it won't make much difference the difference of a few weeks, so am very excited at the thought I could be pregnant by the time we go abroad. Dh has been warned that if that's the case, we will have to take it easy on holiday - usually we rush round trying to see everything - and he has promised no early mornings and no long days if I'm pregnant. Would be good if I am as it would be 2 weeks away from work (I work in a lab, nothing too dangerous though), and it would be nice to have the time off during those early weeks to help make sure everything is as good as it can be. Mind you, saying that, could take years to conceive. I so hope not though I can't wait to be a mummysorry the long rambling post just do excited
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
That's great news Lozza1985
I agree there is never a right time financially.0 -
Hello everyone
Well I'm still waiting - had an operation to drain an abcess on my episiotomy scar (yes, 17 months after the birth) which was less scary than expected, I've been off work for the past 3 weeks to recover and had thought it had worked but have noticed a small lump forming again behind the scar and it's tender again...boo. However am getting sick of waiting now and might just start TTC again and deal with the pain as I don't want to wait too much longer.
Has anyone else had this problem before?My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -
Hi all - yay for the holiday blondy, and woo for the TTC fast forward lozza!
I got my first real period in far too any years on what I estimate to be cd37, so I may well be a 36 day cycler, unless things settle down.
DH and I were both surprisingly upset that I wasn't pregnant (I got excited cd29 onwards!)
We're still thinking of actively TTC from the new year but any earlier "accidentally" would be more than awesome.
I will be cervical mucus monitoring & attempting to temp from the end of this period to have a greater awareness of my cycles, but my skin has settled down even though headaches have remained almost constant post-pill.

Yey! How exciting that there are people on this thread who are actively starting to consider trying / dates, etc :j
Sorry to hear you're suffering a bit, andthethreebears, hopefully things will settle a little in the next few months post-pill (or with a surprise bump)
I got the job! So excited to start although it means I will be around babies 24/7 lol. Poor hubby's going to get sooooo annoyed about hearing how cute they all are and which name's I'd have chosen for them all :rotfl:
I'd like to be in my new job for a minimum of 6 months before starting to actively try, and would like to go on a Snowboarding holiday in April if I'm debt free by then, so thinking of maybe starting to TTC on holiday (which will also be our second wedding anniversary) and beginning with a relaxing holiday free from the stress of debts and finally in a position to save! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally :j0 -
andthethreebears - very exciting times for you! hope the pain settles down as your body gets back into it's own normal cycle. If not perhaps your GP can help with something for the pain?
amyloofoo - congrats on the job! six months will absolutely fly by and you'll be off on your hols and ttc before you know it
As for me, I was out with friends last night who spent half the evening moaning about people they know who have babies and how all they ever talk about is the babies etc and that they (the friends) don't want to hear about it. I found it all a bit depressing because I felt bad for the ladies that were being talked about and I don't like the idea of that sort of thing being said about me in future.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -

Just had to post and say I've signed up to FF and bought a fertility thermometer and diary.... I'm so excited lol! I know April's a while away but I can't wait *patience is NOT my virtue lol*
Bazzi, it makes me upset too when people talk about others behind their backs, especially when it's something as catty as complaining that they love and want to talk about their kids  They're probably just upset that they're not in the same position for whatever reason and are feeling frustrated, the need for gossip can take over the best of us! I'm sure they wouldn't do the same about you because (presumably) they know how long you've been waiting and how much you've wanted it.0 -

Thank you amyloofoo - I can understand how people get annoyed with friends who suddenly stop being interested in the things that you had in common/used to talk about and only want to talk about their baby...to people who don't have or plan to have kids it could be really dull, but the whole tone of the conversation was just very anti-children and I suppose that depressed me as much as anything else. I don't plan to give up everything that I am to be a parent so will hopefully still be able to have conversations about other things and not hopelessly bore people who aren't interested in babies. These weren't close friends of mine and I haven't known them that long so they don't really know my plans for the future etc. I think they probably see me as a very career driven person and may think I think like they do (although i didn't join in on their venting/gossip). I know that one of them has been told she probably won't be able to have kids so you may be right about the cattyness stemming from jealousy.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Hello Ladies
Thought I'd bump up our thread a bit as we were falling into the abyss
Not a lot to report here really, this waiting to TTC is like being in limbo isn't it?
Congrats Amy on the new job!! I'm sure you'll love being surrounded by babies despite it making you super broody
Well done Lozza on the fast forward!! I have been feeling lke doing that recently and I think my OH would agree however there are a few things which make it sensible to wait a little longer:
We have quite a few (probable boozy) social events coming up which is good as in my mind I can get the "but I want to go out and enjoy myself" niggle out the way.
I am on a fixed term temporary contract at work which has just been renewed to the end of the year (am very annoyed about this as in February (!!) I was assured it would be made permanent then, however I have been doubly assured that it will be made permanent at the end of the year) ideally I'd like to be on a permanaent contract before telling them about any pregnancy for security really.
Also we have booked a holiday in Turkey for end Sept/beg Oct. I said to OH that we could start trying on hol as long as the walls aren't too thin!!!
So that's where we are up to really, a little bit of a setback but only by a month so not too worried and it's better for the reasons above.
Also my OH's sister in law has just announced she is pg with her second; she is the most controlling opinionated and selfish woman I have ever met and her "great idea" at Christmas was that we should get pg together and have babies at the same time  Thank god that's not going to happen now, she is already going to be a nightmare if/when we are lucky enough to be pg because she will be telling me what/what not to do/buy all the time!! Arrgghh! Now she will be too self absorbed to be interested in me and OH hopefully.......Sorry this makes me sound awful but please believe me she is a nightmare!
Andthethreebears - sounds exciting but boo for the headacheslet's hope you have an "accidental" suprise
Good Luck!
Lillian - sorry to hear about your op, sounds awful and very frustrating, I hope you are feeling much better soon and that they are able to sort it out for you
Blondy - congrats on your 4 day week :j. I have a day off today and used to only work four days with a Weds off and loved it!!! Unfortunately I'm now back to full time (Boohiss)!
Bazzi and Amy - my worry is that people will roll their eyes and make snidey comments if/when we get pg as we will be the first in our group of friends to make this particular leap however my thoughts are they will soon follow (hopefully) and it'll be all the nicer for us ALL to talk babies but I know there will always be those who are jealous/just horrible which I suppose wil have to be dealt with as and when......
Phew that was a massive post sorry
Hugs to all esp those feeling uber broody and frustrated and sorry if I have missed anyone - off to be lazy on my day off (well do the washing, ironing, hoovering....oh bu**er)!!xxFirst baby due October 2013 :j0
