Those who are waiting to TTC

Hi everyone!
Have been lurking but not had much to post!!
How is everyone? Still broody? :rotfl:Silly question eh?
Hello and welcome to the newbies!
Fab news Browneyedbazzi! So pleased for you
Lozza welcome! Look like we'll be TTC around the same time - September! Having said that my OH changes his mind every time he has a pint or sees a baby and it's getting earlier and earlier!!
For some reason having had a pint makes him more broody :undecided....so when we were sat out in the sun having a drink and waiting for some friends to arrive a week and a half ago we started talking about TTC - he said how he had spoken to one of his friends who told him to chill out about being financially ready; if he kept doing that we'd never be ready, just get on with it and we'll manage! I have to say I agree
So after this he suggested we start trying in July/August!! Now much as I a want to, I also wanted to book a holiday in September (my sneaky plan if mother nature would oblige would be to have a holiday baby!) so if and it's big IF we tried in Aug and fell straight away, I might be feeling sick for our last hol together for a while - seems a bit silly now having written it down that I am basing this on a lot of ifs......:o oh well what happens happens eh? I think I'd be so delighted at falling quickly that I wouldn't really care......we never know, it might take months and months....I find that really hard to think about because that makes me want to start trying now! Oh so flipping confused. Grrr.
Anyway sorry for the long and contradictive post! Hope everyone is well and the weather where you are is better than here - it hasn't stopped raining ALL day!
xxFirst baby due October 2013 :j0 -
Ah - was just thinking that you could use temps to rule out pregnancy but I suppose with an infection, that may be harder to do.
I'm finding it less stressful with testing than I probably would without. DH asked me on Tuesday if I was going to be testing this month - I pulled up my chart on my phone and explained there wasn't really much point in wasting a test as my temp had dropped. Sure enough, next day I was proved right!
My brother got married almost two weeks ago now - one aunt in particular is currently on my 'avoid' list. She kept stroking my stomach and asking me if I'm pregnant yet. Now to me this is extremely rude for a number of reasons. 1) She's assuming I want kids. 2) By stroking my stomach she's implying that there is a bump. My dress was too big so there was no hint of a bump. 3) YOU DO NOT STROKE ANOTHER PERSON'S FLAT STOMACH!!! She also kept sniffing my drinks to see if I was drinking alcohol. Families eh???
Hope you're wellDon't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Yeah, and I'm feeling really warm again now this afternoon. Haven't a clue what's going on! lol It could be other germs as I'm sharing a room with someone who has a cold/flu, and the train this morning was full of people coughing and sneezing and sniffling! EUGH!
I'm glad the temping is working well for you. I think it was just that for me, cos we aren't trying yet, I was getting obssessed and symptom spotting like crazy in the vain hope that I would be accidentally preggers! So silly. I don't do that now that I'm not temping.
Still, I've had a little play around with FF and put in some information that I can remember from what I *think* was OV time, and put the line in for the day I *think* was OV day. I wanted to see how many DPO it would make me. 17! Mmmmmm.
OMG @ your aunt! That is unbelievably rude, for all the reasons you've said! Some people have got such a nerve, haven't they?! I don't know how you managed to bite your tongue with that one. Well done you! And big congratulations to your brother!
I'm good thanks. No progress here really, other than OH keeping his word about housework and doing more things togetherFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
You really should test... if not tomorrow then today. If you're 17DPO you would probably be testing positive in the evening.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

Well, I only have the one test at home. I'm not certain that I am 17DPO, it could be less, so I don't want to risk 'wasting' the test before the morning in case my pee is too diluted.
I was going to say I can't buy another one tonight as out with friends, but I could. I just need to get it from the shop at Sloterdijk, rather than Haarlem. Then I can POAS twice! lolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Hi all,
Now 3 weeks and a day off the pill (didn't take my last pack).
I've been reading a lot about temping (after reading 'taking charge of your fertility') and bought a thermometer but so far have completely failed to temp any morning - I just can't get into the habit, even with digi thermometer right next to the alarm clock! I think I might be ooze watching (there's no nice way to talk about mucus is there?!) instead :oD
Its great to see what you're all up to, I'm so nosey!0 -
AF decided to show up on my way to the Haarlem Shopping Night (as I thought it bl00dy would!). Still only spotting, but she's on her way.
I am so sleepy today! Didn't get to bed until 1.30am!!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Definitely agree that if you wait till you're financially ready it'll never happen, but definitely good to try and do your best
we go abroad in September so need to save the rest of our spending money which is why we aren't starting before and just making sure we set aside a small sum each month from now to help. Mil laughed at husband when he said were waiting till we're sorted, but then again this is the woman who doesn't pay her bills till they're red, and owes us £50 from out wedding present, (don't ask!), so were hardly likely to take financial advice from her lol. Making sure we Save all our tesco vouchers too and they'll get doubled up for baby clothes when the time comes, every little helps and all that!

Hello everyone! so happy I have found this thread as I'm currently in that phase of "waiting/planning" TTC and it feels really scary as there are so many things to consider!
I'll be 31 in a few months, I have been with my bf for 4 years and we have been speaking of having a family "one day" but it's recently downed on me that this "one day" is approaching fast and the clock is ticking!I feel a lit bit stressed by it all and it's so useful to see that I'm not the only one with such worries!
I guess what scares me the most is that I will have to bear most of the stress/pressure of starting a family, at least financially. My bf is doing a PhD, we both agreed that he should do it as in his field having one means access to highly paid jobs and it will benefit us all in the long term; however it also means ridicolously low salary for the next 3-4 years. I'm lucky enough to have a very well paid job, savings on the side with which to buy a property in the next 6 months and hopefully I'll be able to put aside some more savings to fund a few more months of maternity leave on top of the statutory one. But this also means that after a max 6 months after giving birth I'll have to go back to work, no matter what, not only to afford childcare but also to support the whole family. When I think of it it feels such a big load on my shoulders together with a pregnancy and all the phisical changes I'll go through that I fear I'll be very stressed out and potentially to the detriment of the health and happyness of my future child...
But at the same time I can't really postpone it to when my partner will be in a position to support me and look after a family...0 -
Haha it makes me laugh how nobody speaks for days, then somebody takes the plunge and everyone comes out from lurking :rotfl:For some reason having had a pint makes him more broody :undecided....so when we were sat out in the sun having a drink and waiting for some friends to arrive a week and a half ago we started talking about TTC - he said how he had spoken to one of his friends who told him to chill out about being financially ready; if he kept doing that we'd never be ready, just get on with it and we'll manage! Hopelass, don't worry my OH gets more broody when he's had a pint too! Or perhaps just more amorous
It's difficult to know when to start trying. We ideally want to have moved house and settled before having a baby so we can't start trying yet incase we're lucky! BUT if we wait until we find the right house, move in, get settled and then start trying, it could be that we find it difficult to get pregnant!
I think we will still wait a while longer though, I don't fancy moving house whilst heavily pregnant!!clearing_out_my_pockets wrote: »My brother got married almost two weeks ago now - one aunt in particular is currently on my 'avoid' list. I actually can't believe this! I think i'd lose the plot if somebody did that to me!andthethreebears wrote: »Hi all,

Reading euro and COMPs posts it all sounds very confusing this fertility business! I've always just thought we'll do the BD and see what happens but I guess I might have to read up
Hope everyone is doing well!
