  • Hopelass - Congratulations to your OH on the payrise :T Here's hoping you can clear your debts sooner than you anticipated and get to TTC!

browneyedbazzi - Good luck with the job hunting x

jovie - In all honesty if I managed to find another job I'd have to take a pay cut based on my current salary, and once I pass my exams I'll be getting a £4k pay increase so I just can't really justify the drop in income really, especially as I earn more than hubby. I do actually enjoy the job, just when we're busy it's a nightmare, the company is just doing incredibly well at the moment so we're all under alot of pressure.

Been living off takeaways and junk this week as by the time I've been finishing work I just couldn't face going food shopping. Actually got out of work on time today so managed to get a few bits and pieces in so could actually cook something for tea! Probably going to have to work late tomorrow night though :(

On the plus side I passed my exam yesterday and I got a distinction on my latest assignment too, one more exam to go then I've finished this level of the course I'm doing! No idea how I'm managing if I'm honest, I'm so tired at the moment, really worried I'm going to burn myself out. Counting down the days to my holiday so I can have 2 weeks of complete relaxation and indulgence!!

Hello and happy friday to everyone!:j

chocholic_chick - well done on the exam and assignment! :T How long until your well earned two weeks off?

I'm home alone tonight (my partner is working away) so I'm going to have a lazy evening sat in front of the tv with a pizza and then I will sleep in tomorrow morning . It looks like our plans for a day out on sunday may be a wash-out so hopefully I can think of something else to do that could provide and opportunity to talk about timescales and future stuff.:o

Yey well done chocholic_chick! Sounds as though you're having a tough time now but will be worth it in the end. Just focus on those two weeks away and make sure you relax! :)

I've done pelvic floor exercises for as long as I can remember! When I was quite young my nan had some issues which horrified me and I have been determined never to end up with the same problems so I've done them ever since. I also like yoga and practice as much as I can so it seems I'm off to a good start!

My internal debate about TTC has got even more confused today - I'm not very happy at my current job due to a serious personality conflict with my line manager (he's a control freak and I'm very much used to being trusted to do a good job and having the freedom to manage my own workload etc) and disquiet with the way a lot of things are done. I saw an equivalent job advertised today which is more money, closer to my partner's family and would mean we could live somewhere nice that would be a reasonable commute for us both (our jobs are three hours away from one another at the moment, so we live in the middle and each have a long-ish commute). The downside is that starting somewhere new would mean a delay before being eligible for maternity benefits (I work in the public sector so I'm eligible for additional maternity pay/leave etc but there's a qualifying period every time you change employer). I don't know what the qualifying period is at the new place and don't think it's a wise question to ask pre-employment (or during any probationary period for that matter).

    Ho humm.

i was in a similar situation i was looking for work but also trying for a baby. i would definately apply for the job and see how it goes you can always pull out.

i had been trying for a baby for a couple of months when applying for a job, the interview finally came around (nhs) and i was offered the job which i took. 2 weeks later i found out i was pregnant, i still had the opportunity to pull out of the job as final contracts were signed but i really wanted a new job as my other job was very stressful and i was unhappy. luckily the job was in the same nhs trust so it meant no change to my maternity benefits. i didnt want to stop trying for a baby while looking for a job as i am 30 and had already put it off a few times.

maybe find out HRs number of the company you are applying for and ask about their maternity policy, you dont have to give your name.

so by the time i started my new job i was about 11 weeks pregnant, i told my manager at 9 weeks pregnant and told the rest of the colleagues after my first scan. everyone took it well but i did struggle with a sense of guilt but i am over it now. 27 weeks pregnant now.

just go for the job, see how it goes, sounds like it would be a good idea to get out if you are unhappy and your commute would improve as well.

Thanks Laura, I've resolved to apply for the job and I think I have a really good chance at it. Things have changed again for me because I had a message from my parents this morning saying that my dad has something called PKD which is genetic. I need to get tested to see if I have the gene - if I do then I'll need to seriously think about whether or not to have kids of my own and risk passing it to them.

I'm a bit upset about it all but in a way it reinforces that I need to sort the job issue out. Work will always be part of life but it seems that kids may not be on the cards for me. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that browneyedbazzi, fingers crossed for you that you don't have the gene, or that the chances of passing it on are slim!

I saw the doctor today and they have given me a prescription for Norgeston, another mini pill. Does anyone have any experiences of this one? Basically they really don't want me going on the combined pill and I've ruled out the other options for my own reasons so it's just a case of finding the right mini pill

Thank you jovie. I was really reeling over the weekend after the news. I've had a bit more time to read up and think about it etc now. It seems that although I have a 50% chance of having the disease (it's a dominant gene so if you have the gene you have the disease), the version that my dad has isn't the worst one and I even if I have it I may have decades before developing symptoms, if I ever do. I need to go to the doctor and chat to her about it before making a final decision but I don't think I'll get tested. Everything I've read says there is no real benefit to having the test because there's no prevention/treatment/cure for PKD and a positive test could cause problems with mortgages and insurance even if I never develop symptoms.

It still leaves the question of whether to risk having a baby and passing the gene on and I'm not sure yet what I think about that.

Thank you! I've been to the doctor today and am booked in for blood tests on Friday. She also recommended that I get a scan so has done a referral for that..not sure I want to do it but I expect the waiting list will be ages so there's plenty of time to come to a final decision.

Perhaps it's a popular time of year for people to be thinking of TTC? There's usually a spike in births in September (9 months on from the holiday season) so now-ish is when all those people would be getting to the point where they're making announcements...maybe being surrounded by other pg women plus all the optimism that comes with spring that's got us all thinking about TTC at the same time!

  • Morning ladies

On holiday next week :j couldn't come sooner if I'm honest. This week I've had my visit from AF and I'm starting to get concerned about how ill they make me. For the past few times I've had migraines, sickness and diarrhea, been exhausted ( I've went to bed 8pm Tuesday night, 9pm last night ), horrendous stabbing pains in my back passage ( sorry there's no nice way of putting that! ) and awful cramps. I done a quick google search and the symptoms seem to point to endometriosis which is worrying. I think I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor when I get back from my holidays about it, though from what I've read if it is endometriosis there's nothing they can do about it.
