After a lot of faff with blood tests to track hormone levels, as well as food and activity diaries the Dr decided my Migraines were falling within the peak of my cycle but triggered by certain drink stuffs mainly caffeine, and drinks from concentrates :( so by avoiding as many triggers as possible I went down to only having between 10-15 migraines a year which just carried on whilst taking cerazette. With DD I fell pregnant on Cerazette (being over weight makes it less effective so I found out 10 years after starting it lol) but since being pregnant with DD my hormone levels have balanced out to the point that I rarely have migraines and AF is far more regular. I was just a bit of a mystery to my GP as my hormones were following a cycle but AF wasnt :( But he decided that was why I was having the migraines in the first place.

So basically to sum up my waffle I dont really know what I would have been like off the cerazette before DD as I took it all the way up till I found out I was pregnant. Since DD I have been loads better, then since DS even better. They seem to have re-balanced my hormone levels :D

I hope you ladies dont mind but thought I might share a few things I wish I had during and prior to having my little ones:
Lose weight (I havent had much time to since mine arrived)
Pelvic floor excercises and Yoga!! I did these occasionally before but wish I had done them more.
Not fixated myself so much on a birth plan and BFing. babies have the final say on how they arrive (both of mine were awkward breech so I didnt get the "natural" birth I was hoping for but they arrived safely by Csection :D).

Will stop waffling now and go to bed, hoping that littlies dont want to get up at 4am again

Glad to hear you've got to the bottom of your migraines and they're a lot better now :A They're evil things! My neurologist can't seem to get to the bottom of mine and dismisses food as a factor but i know there are certain things that definitely trigger one. Just wish it was just food though.

    Night everyone xx

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :D

Chocoholic, no wonder you're stressed if you're working 10 - 12 hour days and then studying in the evenings. You must be a machine! How much longer will you be studying? Hope the exam went well today :)

All this talk of migraines....I'm a sufferer but I'm still on the pill...not sure how that has worked, lax doctors? I love being on the pill and would hate to be told I couldn't be on it. I also don't like the idea of a coil at all...

And now be honest girls, after reading ticklepenny's post how many of you immediately started doing pelvic floor squeezes whilst sitting at the computer? I know I did! :)

I've done pelvic floor exercises for as long as I can remember! When I was quite young my nan had some issues which horrified me and I have been determined never to end up with the same problems so I've done them ever since. I also like yoga and practice as much as I can so it seems I'm off to a good start!

My internal debate about TTC has got even more confused today - I'm not very happy at my current job due to a serious personality conflict with my line manager (he's a control freak and I'm very much used to being trusted to do a good job and having the freedom to manage my own workload etc) and disquiet with the way a lot of things are done. I saw an equivalent job advertised today which is more money, closer to my partner's family and would mean we could live somewhere nice that would be a reasonable commute for us both (our jobs are three hours away from one another at the moment, so we live in the middle and each have a long-ish commute). The downside is that starting somewhere new would mean a delay before being eligible for maternity benefits (I work in the public sector so I'm eligible for additional maternity pay/leave etc but there's a qualifying period every time you change employer). I don't know what the qualifying period is at the new place and don't think it's a wise question to ask pre-employment (or during any probationary period for that matter).

    Ho humm.

Me too, but only when I remember...which isn't often! I always say to myself I must get into a routine of remembering to do it more often, but I always seem to forget. Seeing it mentioned on here though did make me start doing them again! lol!

Oh that is a difficult one. I hope you manage to come to a decision. I don't know if you want advice (from a stranger at that) but remember that happy mum means more chance of happy baby. It sounds like a really good opportunity so it's worth at least looking into. Good luck!
  • Thank you confused and daisiegg. I think I'll apply for the job and worry about whether to take it or not when/if I get an offer. I may also have a nose around their website etc and see if I can find their maternity policy or any information about what the qualifying period is for the additional benefits....I suppose I could even get a copy via FOI. If the qualifying period is six months then that would be fine, but if it's a year that would make for a really difficult decision.

I think being happy at work is pretty important for a lot of reasons and now is probably the time to try and get it sorted - the longer I wait the more difficult the decision will be!

bit of a poor nights sleep last night due to DS waking up, his 4th molar is coming through and so when the calpol wears off he wakes up bless him. Each time I wonder why I want to do this again DD seems to be psychic, comes over to me gives me a kiss, a cuddle and says I love you mummy, you're my best friend. And all of a sudden I am broody again lol. The magic of children :D

Sorry to hear you had a tough night ticklepenny...i hope the rest of the day wasn't too difficult!

After some really difficult experience of caring for my nephew as a baby (he had a number of medical problems and needed a lot of special care, partly due to his mother being a drug user, and was never a good sleeper) I swore for years that I would never have any of my own. I loved my nephew to bits and was glad that I was able to look after him etc, but it was incredibly hard and I really didn't want to go through all the sleepless nights, nappies, hospital visits, sick in my hair etc etc again.

Since then I've lived with a couple of friends who had babies and had some really positive experiences with their little ones and really treasure the time I get to spend with them. I've come to realise that my experience with my nephew wasn't typical and that there are an awful lot of up sides to more than counter all the downs that I went through before. There's nothing quite like a good cuddle or seeing a little one's face light up when you walk into the room!

    Hello everyone, welcome daisiegg!
Bazzi - that is a difficult one - I also work in the public sector and a little while ago was a bit dispirited with my job and started having a look round, luckily the job has taken a turn for the better and I'm staying where I am for now but I totallly understand where you are coming from about the maternity policy thing; that put me off looking seriously.....but as you have said being happy is the most imprtant think and where I work (rather a large public sector concern!) you only need to have been working there for 6 months for the maternity policy to apply......Good idea to have a look on their website though or even others in the same field perhaps to give you an idea?

Not much to tell in my little world although OH found out today he has been awarded a pay rise which is good and might speed up the wait to TTC!!
Paying off our debt is most important to OH before we TTC...about a month-6 weeks ago he said we should be debt free by Sept, then last week he said August so now could be even sooner!! Hope so eeeeeep!!

Sorry for rambling, off to stop the cat chasing a lettuce leaf around the kitchen now and to open a sneaky bag of Haribo nom nom nom.......

Have a good evening all :)
First baby due October 2013 :j

Wow, that's brilliant new Hopelass! Congrats!

I checked my current employer's maternity policy today and for them the qualifying period for additional maternity benefits is 6 months. As policies from one organisation of this type to another are pretty standard I expect the other place will be the same or very similar :):

Looking forward to filling out the application now and potentially escaping from my vile boss!
