Haha! OH also wants a dog, and every now and then he says (with a smirk on his face) 'we'll get a dog first and see how that goes.'. I just give him 'that' look, he starts laughing and assures me babies first! lol

We got a dog first and she ended up being more trouble than my Nephew that was born around the same time. We got her from a rescue and she was quite ill when we got her then it took her a while to sleep through the night without being a pain or being sick. ugh. Least we've had plenty of practice!

We have recently come to some agreement that we will stop using contraception. We wont be trying to get pregnant but not stopping it from happening either. I told OH that i'd rather we have atleast 6 or 8 months just enjoying ourselves ;) before having to bother with temperature taking and worrying if i'm ovulating or not. Just see what nature does. :) I do roughly know whats going on down there anyway thanks to a bit of a medical scare that made me alot more conscious about what my periods were doing but then I think every woman should be taught to monitor and date periods from a young age just so you know your body. Its really been enlightening for me.

Haha, yeah some dogs can be like that! Well, in fact, all dogs require a lot more attention than most people realise. It can be very good practice for the sacrifices you have to make, and the responsibility. :) Oh, and patience! lol

Very exciting news TooDee! Masses of good luck to you and your OH! I know much more about my body now too! It's enlightening for sure!!!

Oh, just remembered, I need to text my SIL. Her eldest daughter started her periods, but she's in the last year of primary school and was regfusing to take any pad's into school out of embarrassment. At the time, they had those pretty little tins being given away free with sanitary towels here so I got her one. I heard it was a success in that she happily put it in her schoolbag (I got my other neice to give it to her, as she's the only person she'll talk to about it at the moment), but not sure how she got on after that. Must check to find out!

Poor girl starting in primary school no wonder shes embarrassed. I don't think I was even aware of periods then. She'll be a pro when she gets to high school and can give all her friends advice. :)

Thanks for the good luck wishes i think we're going to need them! Either that or we'll get a positive after the first month lol.

Must be a male thing to joking equate pets and babies! My OH is adamently against pets. Early on in our relationship he was telling me there's no way we are getting a cat or a dog so I said 'well that means I get a baby' and he agreed. :j

I have to admit, having a puppy has enlightened me to a bit of what having a baby would be like. My 'little darlng' barked constantly at night for the first 3 weeks we had him and every time we left the house!! Also refused to go outside to the toilet if it was raining lol! (Cue us carrying him and standing outside getting rained on at midnight while he whinged and barked at the door) It is very rewarding though as he is now very well behaved and doesn't bark much at all :)

I'm sure having a baby is much more of a challenge though.

I think it will be more of a challenge, but I think it will also be more rewarding (though I'm not sure I'll feel that way when I'm up at 4am, with a screaming baby, for the 6th night in a row! lol).

    It's almost weekend ladies! I can't !!!!!!! wait!

    Hello All

I wonder if could join you very friendly sounding ladies? I have been lurking a while but as time goes on I thought well, I'm still waiting so why not!

Bit of background: I'm 30 and OH is 33, been together 2 years, bought a house together last year (not married). We decided we would rather get on with TTC (once debt free) before getting married as neither of us are getting any younger I'm sure you all know how it goes.... and neither of us is particularly religious or feel it is paramount to be married first.

So, we reckon we will be debt free by September and this is when OH has given me the go ahead to come off the pill!!:T It is very important to him mainly that we are debt free as he worries a loy about it. Currently we are paying about £700pcm into debt so by the autumn this should be gone and the money can go towards saving for a little one :D.

So quite excited at the moment but also very impatient, god knows what I'll be like when we are actually TTC :o My mum told me today though that it took her about 1-2 months after coming off the pill before she fell with me. Obvs I know everyone is different so we'll see....

Anyway I'll stop rambling for now ;) won't normally be on at this time as I work full time but I will pop in as much as poss and try and start to learn all the terms used on the TTC thread (have you seen them? it's like another language!)

Bye for now, hope everyone has a lovely Friday night and weekend

Bit of a family history/pattern there. I started in primary school too, at the same as her actually. Though she is my brother's eldest daughter. If anything, I expected my sister's eldest daughter to follow family patterns.

It was embarrassing, but not too bad. What was weird though, was tampons being stolen from my bag!! :rotfl:

Oh yes, and the reproductive 'talk' coming about 6 months too late. I have to say though, the school were very accomodating and understanding. I'm sure neice's school would be too, but she has banned her mother from talking to them about it too!

    Hello and welcome Hopelass!

    Very exciting isn't it?

Everyone's experiences are different. Some people come off the pill and fall pregnant before their next period!! And others can take over a year (or longer), so it can vary a lot.

You could always come off the pill now, and allow your body to regulate itself back into it's natural pattern (and use a different form of contraception in the meantime).

Yes, there are lots of terms, but you'll pick them up quickly enough.

Have a nice Friday night and weekend too!

As for me, one of my male friend's fiance went into labour yesterday afternoon. Now, it's Friday 13th and keep thinking 'Oh man, it would be really funny if the baby arrived today, it was a boy......and they called it Damien!' hehehehehehe. It probably won't arrive until tomorrow, and will be a girl! lol

    Welcome HopeLass!

I came off the pill a few years ago as it seems hormonal contraception really doesn't agree with me, so we've been using condoms since. It's really nice to know that we are 'ready to go' so to speak and it did take things a while to get back to what they were before the pill.
I typically have 33-35 day cycles, so does this mean I would ovulate 14 days-ish before the end of a cycle? I need to start watching things more lol.
