  • Euronorris, you do seem to be having a rough time at the moment, hopefully things will improve soon.

I can't comment on the reappearing AF I'm afraid, I'm still waiting for my first one post pill.
  • Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome :D

I've read about folic acid so will probably start taking that after my holidays next month. Also thinking about coming off my pill after my hols too, will I have to explain to my doctor why I don't want a repeat prescription for it anymore though??

It's so nice to have people to talk about this to, so far we aren't telling anyone we're hoping to start trying at the end of the year and when we ( hopefully ) get pregnant are going to wait until the first scan before telling anyone just incase. I'm already itching to start looking at prams and cots etc :rotfl:

euronorris sorry to hear your having a difficult time with things lately x

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi all,

I'd like to join this thread too...I don't have a set timescale for TTC yet but it's something that I've been thinking about a lot recently and as I've been told a few times recently I'm not 'getting any younger.' (I'll be 33 on my next birthday so the clock is ticking).

Part of me is really broody and doesn't want to wait, but another part (perhaps the bit not affected by hormones?) thinks there are still things to do before really settling down to family life (see some more of the world, buy a house, pay off debts etc).

How do people decide when the time is right to start trying (or stop trying not to)?

    Hello,

Browneyedbazzi - I am a similar situ we are getting married next Jan, and were originally going to try next Spring however my practical head states wait until we have saved up a deposit for a house (another two years) so that we can afford for me not to work for 6mths/1 year. But I am getting really broody and the other day I thought why should we wait. I am turning 30 next year and had enough of my job and just want to have a baby. Hard to decide what is right to do....

Thank you Blondy, it's good to know I'm not the only one having a similar internal debate.

I am a bit fed up with work at the moment too - I used to have a really satisfying job and couldn't ever see myself giving up work. I had to relocate about six months ago and don't find my new job satisfying at all so now it doesn't seem like giving up work will be such a terrible thing!

Hello all, this is my first post in the MSE forums :j
Lovely to read through other people's journies too - are you all able to give me a bit of advice?
I was married on March 24th and I am 25. I have known my husband since 2001 and we are definately ready for a baby.
First steps, start taking folic acid and come off the pill? Any other things I need to look at or do? I really have little idea of what I am doing - this being our first time TTC and all.

    Hugs :)
  • Hi Laura721! If you don't mind, I won't add you to the front page - I think you should go straight over to the TTC thread...

Other than what you've already mentioned (coming off BC and starting Folic Acid) there's nothing that you have to do. I personally use Fertility Friend (there's a link in the opening post) which helps to pin point ovulation. But you might prefer to take a more relaxed approach than that...

Congratulations on your recent wedding, by the way x

  • Hi newbies, and everyone else!

It's interesting to hear peoples views on taking folic acid - my old GP suggested it a year or so ago (I was / am on the pill) so i have a tub, and take it when I remember (sometimes two if it's been a while!)

I have 3 packs of pills left, as I 'back to back' for 3 packs at a time thats only 9 weeks. I feel a bit of a fraud because the Dr wanted me to have the implant last time I went in for OCPs, I said no because I didn't want to be on anything too long term - a year later I guess I'll be going back for another years worth!

Everything I've read says that there's no harm in taking folic acid if you're TTC or not...if your GP suggested it then why not?

I'm terrible at remembering to take pills (had to swap to the evra patch years ago because missing pills or taking them at the wrong times stressed me out!) and think I'll have to set an alarm or something to remind me to take the vitamins :s

    :hello: please can I join?

Me and my OH just got married (:j) and we want to start to TTC in about a year's time, give or take. The only reason we aren't starting now is because I don't have a permanent job, and we want to be a bit more stable financially before we do anything. So, hopefully I'll have a job by then!

It's so nice to read a thread where people are thinking the same.... :o
