    Thanks Ladies! :)
I am starting modifications i.e. I used to back to back my pill for 3 months at a time but stopped that late last year and soon as you have both mentioned I will come off it completely using other contreception then nothing at all:j.....

I went to my GP today; had various symptoms which pointed to anaemia and she agreed that I could be anaemic but also could have hypothyroidism

I am so glad I went today and that she sent me for bloods (testing for EVERYTHING pretty much, I hardly have any blood left!) but having read the effect of hypothroism on pregnancy and foetal development I am really glad that I will have a chance to correct this if this is the case......hoping it is just a simple case of anaemia though.....at least with such a comprehensive blood test any problems will be flagged up and I have time to sort them

Thanks for your welcomes, take care

  • Hey ladies
I'm not sure if I'm "allowed" to join your group. My OH and I just got married and are hoping to start TTC in the next year or two (ideally we'll start trying in a year or so). I'm off the contraceptive pill (I couldn't take it due to migraines and the oestrogen only didn't suit me) so I'm nearly back to normal and ready to go... but anything else I need to know?!

Of course you are 'allowed' roseability :D Welcome! Everyone is really nice and friendly on this thread from what i've seen so no one needs to feel shy about joining.
  • Evening all :)

I'd like to join you all if thats ok?? Been with hubby for almost 7 years, got married last year and we've recently had the baby talk and decided that once we get a few essential things done round the house thats going to eat up all our disposable income for a while we'll start to TTC :T We're going to look at where we stand at the end of the year and go from there ( I'm hoping that we'll be in a position to start trying at the end of this year )

I'm so excited about it, I've been broody for years but for various reasons it wasn't an option for us ( there was a spell where it looked likely we wouldn't be able to have children at all ). I'm completely clueless about everything though, neither of us are natural with kids so we've got alot to learn. I've no idea if there's anything I should be doing now, even though it's realistically going to be 7+ months before we start trying?? I'm on the combined pill and use to take it back to back for 3 months but now I have stopped doing that. I need to change my diet and lose a little weight, get a bit healthier all round really. Other than that not sure if theres anything I should be doing. I think to begin with we're just going to give it a few months to see if it happens naturally before having to look at monitoring things etc

Look forward to getting to know you all :)

Humph just wrote a nice long reply and managed to delete it by accident

Hi Choc_chick and Roseability, you are newbies like me :j

I have googled a few "top 10,15,20 etc things to do before TTC" lists which are all quite similar and come up with things such as:

    stopping smoking
    stopping/cutting down drinking
    eating healthily
taking vitamin supplements inc folic acid
    having a dental check up
making sure smear test is up to date

etc etc they can be quite long and this is all I can remember off the top of my head :o any addtions/advice for what we need to do would be greatfully received :D

 to the newbies :) I'm actually ttc/12months+ but just wanted to stress the importance of taking folic acid (400mg) as soon as possible, but as a preference at least 3 months before ttc.

You could also use this time to get your body free of (contraceptive) hormone treatments and get to know your cycles better, but that's personal choice.;)

Check out the nhs website info regarding folic acid (or just google) if you need any persuasion about taking it. There are guidelines that say all women of childbearing age should take it (regardless of ttc) so don't worry about taking it "too early" - the sooner the better :)

That's what I have done. I'd been on the pill pretty much consistently since I was 16 and I was worried it might take some time to get back to normal. Happily I only had one long cycle (5 weeks) and it's all good. And even more happily, I havent broken out in pimples or anything else like that. And I lost a little weight and I feel heaps better.

But then my situation is that OH has to have a VR so contraception isnt really an issue for us.

I'm feeling down today. Woke up on Saturday feeling really upset. OH spoke, and I started having a go at him for no reason and then kept crying continuously for no reason! Joy! Then I went to the bathroom, and my period had started up again! !!!!!!?! I was on CD 9, and had been spotting the last few days so I was sure it was almost over for this month. This then sparked OH to wonder if perhaps I was pregnant (due to the high emotional level amongst other things), and it was ectopic or something. Anyway, I got a cheap test and peed on that to rule it out (it was negative).

We did some Googling, and seems it can point (most likely) towards a hormone imbalance. In itself, as a one off, it's prob nothing to be worried about. If it continues for more than 2 months, then I should get it checked out. This is the 2nd month (last month was similar but without the emotional stuff). So, if it happens again, I will pop to the doctor and ask her to figure it out.

Also, I just don't want to be in this job anymore. Dreamt last night of various ways of avoiding it, and then woke up and realised I had to go in anyway. :( Sucky, sucky, sucky start to the day.

Welcome to our newbies Roseability and Chocoholic_chick! You're very welcome here. :D

Sharrison - any date on the cards for your OH's VR?

Oh, and my friend's fiance did give birth on Friday 13th! They welcomed a little girl name Chloe to their family :D

Yes. It's sh*t. I don't think my hormones are helping matters. Already been crying this morning, before I left the house. And been fighting them back ever since. Not doing much for my motivation at work!

Has anyone else had a similar pattern/thing the period thing?
