I was thinking that - I'm very apple shaped and carry a lot of weight in my tummy, so all my dresses etc from last summer/autumn might be perfect for early maternity wear next yearLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

ick! no improvement in the dry red patches on my cheeks either, despite twice daily moisturising!
What kind of moisturiser are you using? Does it have perfume in it? Anything that does, may be making the dry patches worse. So, for those areas of skin, I would recommend using E45 cream, but ONLY on the dry patches. If you are anything like me, you'll also have areas which aren't dry, and will then get very oily very quickly.
I have tried all sorts of different cleansers, toners and moisturiser over the years and can safely say that everyone has different experiences with the same product! All about trial and error to find ones that suit your skin.
My skin is quite typically T-zone. ie, oily and spotty in the t-zone and dry in the other areas. I now use a cleanser scrub from Neutorogena (I think!) every 3 days or so, and use No7 Balanced Results Day Cream each day. That moisturiser was not cheap (but I did have a 5 quid off voucher), but I do find that it really does keep the dry parts moisturised, whilst mattifying the oily parts. Plus, you don't need very much of it all, so it's proving to last a long time.
You could always go up to the beauty counters in boots (or elsewhere) and ask from some free samples to try out at home to find the best fit?
Oh, oh, oh! I totally forgot! I found a BOOTS in Utrecht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Happy, happy, joy, joy!

I'm currently using Simple kind to skin day cream. I've always just used Olay beauty fluid, (as my mum used to use it and the smell reminds me of her) and my skin has never needed much moisturising, it didn't used to absorb heavier creams at all, they just sat on the surface and made me feel like I needed a wash!
Now it feels dry/tight across my cheeks and forehead, but my chin is all spotty! it's like a reverse T. I'll try some E45 though, and maybe use some christmas money to try out a more fancy moisturiser - time for a trip to a department store methinksLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

E45 should work well on your dry patches. For the oily/spotty patches an oil-free moisturiser might work best as it won't clog up your pores so much. I am currently using the Neutorogena one which is nice.
I tend to use witch stick and/or sudocrem on my spots and that helps clear them up.
If you like to wear makeup, Witch do a primer which protects any spots from getting more clogged while helping your makeup stay put.

I use simple oil balancing moisturiser (But I don't really have any dry bits . . .so that's not much of a help!), for the spots, I use freederm rapid response cream - not been out long, but boy does it make a difference!
And COMP - well done on the size 12!!!

I'm not a big makeup wearer, I work in a lab so there's not much point in the daytime! If I do wear it on a night out, I only use a powder foundation, and I've never had a problem with it.
I've found the end of a bottle of clean and clear cleanser so will try that on my chin for a few days. I've been only been using the moisturiser on cheeks and forehead anyway, as my chin area is already oily enough!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Ah yes, but be careful about not moisturising oily areas. If you don't moisturise them after cleansing, when they are quite dry (most skin is after a clean), then they can over produce oil to make up for the lack of moisture.
So, a non oil based moisturiser (as Emsbet suggested) might be best for those areas.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

so weird to suddenly have to learn all this skin stuff at very-nearly-30.

has anyone else come off the pill in preparation for TTC yet? My skin has gone revolting, not sure if it's the change in hormones or something else. I've always had really good skin, no issues with spots as a teenager, just the odd one here and there. The last 2 months I've had really dry/red/patchy skin on my forehead (hidden by fringe, thank goodness( and on my cheeks, either side of my nose. I've also started getting loads of spots on my chin in the run up to AFmeh! I've started moisturising every day, instead of every 2-3 days (never really needed much before) but last night DH asked what was wrong with my face?! as it looked so sore and red. I was not pleased!
I went off the pill earlier this year and my skin went absolutely crazy!
My partner has had a vasectomy so a reversal is obviously on the cards before we can start trying. So I thought I'd come off the pill because I've heard it can take a really long time for your body to adjust and that way, maybe his and my timelines would be more aligned.
But as I said, skin went crazy. I had breakouts that I just could not control. For someone who has always had quite nice skin and no real problem with teenage acne, it was an awful shock. So I went back on it because I had a few big events on this year but I dreading having to go off it again at some point in the future.
The only tip I can give is vitamin c, in the powdered form, mixed in with whatever moisturiser you use at night. Its fantastic for healing skin.0
