Those who are waiting to TTC

apologies too for my long absence - I got back last week from 3 weeks in Cambodia and Laos. We had an amazing time - it made us realise how shattered we both were. We spent out time wandering around sights, chilling out in fab bars and eating ourselves stupid.
One of my best friends had a little boy while we were away - which of course meant that we ended up talking in depth (for the first time in a while) about The Great Pooping Machine Strategy. OH got me to admit to a thought I'd been harbouring for some time - that if and when we do sprog I'd really like to be able to take a few years off before carrying on with my career plans......He's all for it !
So....I now have to decide whether I want to start TTC next May - once I've had one more health check up or wait till May 2013. Waiting till May 2013 means if we are successful I'd move back to the UK preggers, work for a bit, then go on maternity leave. Starting next year raises the possibility that I'd be preggers out here, have the baby here (gulp) and go on maternity here. That means that I would probably have to go back to work before moving home. Lots to think about.....
Otherwise I'm spending all my time with my head in books - it will all be worth it in the end! I get the result of my first module next week - and it's a compulsory one for my degree. Think I may wear out the F5 key refreshing the results page.
Having made a half hearted attempt at weightloss before the holiday I am now going for it - OH has set up spreadsheets with percentage goals for us both. Lost 3lbs last week which was nice! Think I will use COMP's example for inspiration.....
Euro - sorry to hear about your BIL. It sounds like you are doing everything you can xx Hope your wrist gets sorted as quickly and painlessly as possible!

morning all, hope everyone is well.
Had fab weekend, went to visit SIL2B and her family, so got lots of time with OH's nieces (aged 8 months and 5), which made me really broody again :-( even OH was feeling it, which is unusual for him to admit.
Normally he says he just misses his family (he used to stay really close to them, but moved away to be with me), but this time he was more involved with the kids (we all went shopping together, we took the kids while SIL2B and her partner bought the kids Xmas stuff), and said although it felt weird at first, it was a good kind of weird!
Then I came down with the cold and horrid toothache on Monday, so been feeling rubbish since we've been home. Been really emotional too, was carrying a big basket of washing last night (in front of my tummy) and OH jokingly said 'Looks like your pregnant there', well I just broke down in tears and started blubbing that I wished I was and it's breaking my heart that we can't start trying yet. OH bless him, just gave me a big hug and was so nice to me, normally he can't handle me being upset and sort of doesn't say too much.
So was feeling better, until I logged on to Stupidbook 1st thing this morning, and 4 (yes FOUR) of my friends on there have given birth, or their sister/best friend etc have, in the past 24 hours. So now I'm all upset again and OH is at work so can't give me any more hugs :-(
Just need to pull myself together and remember WHY we can't start trying yet. Even if we did have our own house and no debts, we're getting married in 5.5 months and I don't think my dress could be altered to accommodate a bump!!
Sorry for rambling, just needed to let it all out lol! xx0 -
morning ladies
CD1 for me again, so last two cycles were 31 and 30 days and things seem to be settling down ok after the pill :j.
DH and I had a lovely weekend with all my family for 2 birthday celebrations, lovely playing with nieces 1&2 and nephew no1, plus sister no2 is due in 7 weeks, so got to feel bump moving about :smileyhea
We've been discussing again when to start TTC, I think early March for several reasons: 1) to avoid an October baby if possible, we already have 8 family birthdays in October! 2) to avoid my 30th party in January , and 3) to give me a bit more time to lose weight, want to get BMI <30, 12lb to go!
DH is concerned that if we fall pg straight away in March I won't have reached 12 weeks before 2 really close friends weddings in April and May so we'll have to tell people earlier than we'd like (as it would be obv I wasn't drinking, we're all staying together in hotels, and DH is best man at one). I think if we wait til May, then there will be other occasions coming up, and we'll never start to TTC. Also it's unlikely we'll fall so quickly (like all men I think he's convinced he has super sperm :rotfl:), and based on cycle length of around 30 days, i'll be waiting for OV not in the 2ww at both the weddings, so not a problem with drinking
In other news I've bought a small PC desk to replace the large desk in our bedroom, so we'll be able to move bookcase from 3rd bedroom (future nursery!) into our room and make space to have a crib/moses basket in with us for a few months as well. We're going to rearrange the furniture at the weekendLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Hello ladies
I loiter a lot around here, but rarely post as at home I only have an ipad and touchpad and find typing a real chore. But am at work at the minute and taking the time out to type a few lines.
My OH and I are desperate to start. We have a planned date now of 15 Jan to start trying (although I am worried because I have michael mcintyre tickets booked for 15 Oct, and if i was to conceive straight away I might have to miss it :rotfl:). So thats the plan. Not long to wait!!
We aim to have saved £6k to top up my abismal maternity pay and by the end of next month we'll be at £2,300, so have most of next year to save the rest. I am so so broody, its awful. I'm determined not to stress myself out over it or I know it won't happen, so we're going to have a very laid backapproach to baby making. I won't be taking temperates, or planning fertile periods or anything like that. So excited that the time is getting nearer.
Good luck ladies0 -
Hi all,
Hope you are all well
I know how you all feel, it's like there are pregnant women everywhere!!!
I think that we will move our TTC date forward . . . . again . . . . as very unexpectedly, my OH's dad gave him a cheque to buy a new car (for his 30th) - I nearly keeled over! We just seem to be talking about it more and more, but even if we did move it forward, I know it won't happen straight away.
Bit disappointing really, when you see other people not caring when they have kids - even thought some of them can't even look after themselves. Why is it that the good, sensible people have to wait?2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -

Controversial maybe .... but I'll ask anyway. Do any of you worry about losing yourself and your OH as a couple, once you become parents?0

I don't at all, but that's not to say that our relationship won't change in some way - we will adjust and we have supporting parents who would babysit if we needed some time together.
We know it will be a big adjustment, especially at the start when there are sleepless nights, but I think like most people you take it one step at a time, because there is now something in the world bigger than you and you would do anything for it.
p.s. its not controversial at all x2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a while trying to read as many posts as possible!
My OH and I have been together just over a year and living together a while now. We both REALLY want to start TTC but we're both pretty unhappy in our work (i've been trying to get a new job for about 4 months with no luck!). We're currently renting and slowly saving for a deposit on a house. I'm also an old fashioned kind of a girl and would prefer to be married before we start a family. We're not engaged yet but we've discussed it and now its just a case of waiting for him to ask
Anyway the upshot of all this is that we've decided to be sensible and wait until we're more financially secure and happier in our work. It's already driving me crazy though, I know its the best thing to do but the desire to start TTC is so strong I thought I'd vent on here as a lot of you seem to be in a similar boat!
Looking forward to talking to you all some more!

Evening all
Welcome to any newbies
DH and I have spent the day sorting out our small spare room(future nursery!) and rearranging our room with a new small pc desk etc to make more room for when we have a baby. Very exciting, we still haven't picked a final date to start ttc, but will probably be between March and June next year. We're going to sit down in the new year and do a budget, including a list of baby stuff we'll need to get etc.:D
not long to wait now, this time last year I felt like we'd never have a baby. DH is really excited too, so I think the right time has almost come. :jLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160
