    Afternoon all :)

has anyone else come off the pill in preparation for TTC yet?

    Afternoon :hello:

I must say I'm dreading that! I'm not on the pill, I'm on the implant and have been for the last two and a half years. Prior to that I was on the pill for two years. Before that I had a four month break from fake hormones and *from memory* my cycles / skin were fine. But as I wasn't TTC, I don't remember 100%. :o

  • another one here dreading coming off the pill! I've been on it for the past 8 years, since I was 19, and mainly went on it for controlling my very painful and irregular periods. I was on the injection for about 18 months but came off that this summer and went back to the pill.

Had no periods while on the injection and on the pill they are regular as clock work and not painful at all. Before the pill, I was regularly taking days of school/uni as for the first 2 days of every period all I wanted to do was lie in bed and eat chocolate! Can't recall having problems with my skin though before the pill, I was a very lucky teenager in that respect lol!
  • I know what you mean - I have been off the pill for a little while now and seem to get a 'beard' of spots around my jawline when AF is due. They are quite red and sore and I get them every month without fail.

I suppose it's just how nice mother nature wants to be!

    Hi Ladies,

Well, the discussion with OH didn't really happen in the end. He came home in a foul mood, as he still hadn't go any answers from work, and they couldn't give him a timescale (or so they say) of when they'd have answers etc. I just thought that a) it was not a good time to discuss it when he's already in a foul mood and b) not much point arguing over something if there may not be anything to argue over IYSWIM (if they give him the contract he wants, then this is all a non issue), so I just decided to leave it for now.

We both then came down with some kind of stomach bug, and I think I had a migraine with mine too. So, I'm sure his work thought he was just staying off work in protest, as he was then contacted to say they would have his contract offer ready for him today. Which means they went from, 'we can't give you a date' to 'it'll be ready in 2 days'! lol. We'll see. I won't hold my breath on that one.

As for coming off the pill. Yeah, I switched to non hormonal IUD in March as was getting frequent migraines on the pill. And yeah, spots galore since then. Although, I have noticed that it has started to settle down in the last couple of months. I also started to get them on my back! But they aren't too bad now, so hopefully, yous will level out and calm down too.

Have asked to see the psychologist again so I have somewhere to offload and can learn to cope better with the drama that is OH's brother, and his work stuff. Also managed to get appt for wrist surgery sorted this morning. I'll be going in on Fri 6th Jan, so I'll be quiet for at least a week after that. But, I'm glad it's not far away and will soon be over and done with.

And after some more discussions with OH about my debts, he has loaned me the money to clear my UK CC, which I will pay back to him interest free at €200 pm (so 11 months). He sent me the money yesterday afternoon and I transferred it to UK account already, but it hasn't yet arrived. When it does, I will clear the balance on that card. Aim is clear that card, wait a couple of months, ask for 0% transfer, when they say no, ask to cancel card, get offered 0% transfer, transfer overdraft to CC at 0%, and pay back quicker. In meantime, continue €200pm payments to OH. At end of May, when paid, use €600 of holiday allowance to pay OH and another €600 to UK to clear overdraft money. Remaining €600 to savings account for holiday. So, money to OH will be repaid by July. And theoretically, overdraft will be cleared by October. IF there is an October bonus, it will be set aside in savings until I have enough to clear the balance of the loan (which is now under 4k by the way!!!). And loan should then be cleared by end of 2012 (depending on how large bonus is), as the balance by October payroll will only be 1500.17!!!!

OMG! I think I might cry. There is light at the end of the tunnel! I'm almost there ladies!

    xxx

You are (of course) very welcome.

In other non-TTC news, I was wearing a jumper dress with tights and heels to work today. BUT the dress became soooo static that it was skin-tight on me. Obviously by the time it started clinging, I was already at work  So I nipped to Dorothy Perkins about an hour ago and bought two dresses. Automatically picked up size 14, tried them on, and they were too big :j I'm now the (very) proud owner of two size 12 dresses :D

Yay!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j That is one of the best feelings in the world! Enjoy it! :D It's like a mixture of pleasure at being a size smaller, and pride at how hard you've worked to achieve it! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

I checked UK bank account, and the funds had reached UK already! So.....payment was made to CC! Exchange rate meant it was a little lower than required, but only leaves a balance of 20 odd quid, which I will clear after payday. Good news :D

Now just need to wait a few months before asking for another 0% balance transfer in order to tackle the overdraft! God, when that happens, it'll be the first time in YEARS that my UK account will have been in the black for more than a day!!!

yay :j well done COMP :D

I love being able to fit into smaller clothes, I tried on a load of stuff last weekend, and I can get back into most of my size 16 stuff. I've bought a new jumper dress from tesco in a size 16, but it's still a tad tight - hoping to be able to wear it in a few more weeks :)

Euro, glad your OH is helping you save money on interest payments, and fingers crossed his contract finally appears this week.

Re the spots, mine seem to be getting worse each month, and I'm just starting my 4th cycle off the pill. I currently look like I've been stung by something on the left side of my chin as I have a red lumpy cluster of spots :( ick! no improvement in the dry red patches on my cheeks either, despite twice daily moisturising!

It's quite funny really - I had a job interview about two months ago and the suit trousers I wore for it were slightly snug. Fit perfectly now (although the waist gapes a bit).

This losing weigh malarky isn't good for moneysaving! Although DH (bless him) keeps suggesting that as my clothes get looser I should keep them as maternity wear!
